First off I'm happy to see any bookstore. Was concerned for sometime they'd all disappear. On a plus note this isn't Barnes and Noble, which is one of my least favorite companies. I'm not sure if this one went out and came back, but they used to have more of them. Having a bookstore in Dulles Town Center is a positive, although I wish they'd make it have the lounge feeling to it. I understand that's probably costly, but us book reading folks are quirky creatures of comfort.
Price wise they are competitive. This isn't a huge store. On the second floor of the mall, it's close to the Macys. It's fairly busy but not an insane asylum. They have a decent selection. There are also some kids toys. I like the friendly employees. Time will tell if they can pull the more laid back atmosphere off, but as a book reader, I always stop by if I'm in the mall.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Rekha K.Reston, VA2153Aug 4, 2018
A great little bookstore nestled on the second floor of Dulles Town Center that supports local authors like my mother, Judith Mudd-Krijgelmans, the author of "Flowers for Brother Mudd: One Woman's Path from Jim Crow to Career Diplomat".
Assitant manager Jeff Bagtas was so helpful helping us organize for the book signing. When we arrived we were given great support and had a great turnout.
The staff was super friendly and the layout of the store fantastic. The storefront was well stocked and welcoming. The store looks smaller than it is, it is deep and has a variety of sections and would be a great place for kids and elders alike.
Many thanks to Jeff and Manager Guy Christman for supporting local authors like my mother!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ryan S.Herndon, VA626606Oct 8, 2018
I'll tell ya, I don't like this place. They're expensive compared to other bookstores. Case in point, I bought "The President is Missing" by Bill Clinton and James Patterson today. It's marked $18.00 on Barnes and Noble and other bookstores. But, at Books A Million, of course it's $27.00.
I asked, "Do you honor the 15% off Friends and Family discount from your website today?"
I was met with snark.
Bookseller, "Do you have the membership? No? Well, then you don't get the discount, do you?"
Then they're selling coffee for veterans at the point of sale which is very strange to me. Additionally, they try to push "free" magazine subscriptions at the point of sale, too.
I'm going to stick with Scrawl in Reston. I don't mind paying more there because they're an indie store.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vince M.Reston, VA610Jan 20, 2020
Not a good sized square footage bookstore. The store is located in the mall so it will do. Average store gets average rating.

I enjoy shopping there. My only issue is with how small it is. I enjoy space between isles. But over all, it's a nice store and is very clean. The employees are very friendly as well.

I actually really love this store, but this rating is for the experience I had last night, not an overall rating.
There was a kid, lying on the floor, reading directly in the aisle I wanted to be in. I was floored (haha?) that everyone was just pretending he didn't exist. No one seemed to care! He was there the whole time I was shopping around (although the only aisle Im interested in was the graphic novels, and he was laying in front of them).
Im just still confused that I even experienced that.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Alex P.Leesburg, VA02Jan 16, 2018
I really wanted to love this store but I can't. I've only made three purchases last year and every time I would hear their sales pitch upon making a purchase. Sometimes the employees would try to pitch me into a charity.
All of these factors combined (and the terrible return policy) has lead me to dropping the store and head to Amazon instead.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Samantha A.Chantilly, VA01Mar 9, 2017

Why can't they just give their customers a decent price without forcing us to buy a discount card? Every time I make a purchase I have to listen to the "if you buy a discount card" speech. Then they hit you up for a so called free magazine subscription. Finally, to add insult to injury, they always hit me up for one of their charities, I give time and money to the charities of my choice, I don't need/deserve a guilt trip from Books A Million. The anxiety build up prior to checking out just isn't worth it, I guess I'll stick with Amazon.
