Affordable Water Heaters and Plumbing

Worst company to deal with. Totally ripped off my 94 year old mother in law for a water heater installation that cost her $3585. Should be $1200. Took advantage of a 94 year old.

Please believe me when I ask you to look at other options. My tenet contacted them from number on current water heater as I was not able to deal with it at the time. They did respond at my rental house in Santa Barbara but charged $3,200 for maybe 2 hours of work. Absolutely crazy price. My plumber, who I contacted the next day, said the job should have been about $1,600! Please learn from my error!

Great Find. Called my local plumber after I woke up to a house of cold water but was told it would take him at least a day or two as he was away. I couldn't wait that long so I looked up companies around and found this one. I had my hit water back within a day. It was more expensive obviously but I got what i wanted and knew it beforehand too. very quick and efficient service.

I called these guys first thing in the morning for a leaky water heater. They were very responsive and quick to try and resolve my issue. They sent a crew pretty quickly, replaced my heater and provided quality installation. I Recommend them for your plumbing needs. Great work!

Called Affordable WH&P at number shown on water heater because the pilot light would not stay lit. Tech from Hayward arrived on time, looked at heater and stated "Heater too old - no parts available - and called his boss" His boss told me a replacement with installation would be $3850. I refused his offer, which he dropped to $1,000. I called my son and within 20 minutes he cleaned the heating element and installed a "$5.00 part". That was 2 days ago and I have not had any problems since.

Affordable Water Heating & Plumbing is a scam and apparently thinks senior citizens are great targets. I wasted $99 when I should have called a family member for advice, OR reviewed Zelp.

This company is awful. They came out after I made an appointment 3 days in advance. They made me fill out paperwork that said it was an emergency. I say it wasn't, but they wouldn't do the work unless I stated it and signed. All I wanted was hot water. I should have told them to leave. Then I was given the quote! $1020. All parts were covered under warranty and the guy was here 2 hours. I said so you get paid $500 an hour. Total RIP!!!!!

Don't use them, EVER.

Water heater went out so I called the number on the f'in water heater. It was for affordable water heater. How this business doesn't have multiple lawsuits is beyond me. They came out the next day after I called and said it was something like 800 bucks to fix it. I said I could get a brand new one from Home Depot for 700. Told him to get the f out. People do not do business with this company. Looking into why the water heater had these people's phone number on it.

Ridiculous. My 84-year old grandma called these guys out since their number was on her water heater to call in an emergency. They charged her $100 just to come out and take a look and said it would be $2,500. Luckily she called my parents and they said that was an astronomical amount to pay, so she thanked them for their service and dismissed them. They tried to argue with her (probably thinking she would cave, but she's a tough old lady!) and she made them leave. They proceeded to call her later that day and said they could drop the price significantly, but luckily we had already called out a local water heater company by then who did it at a third of the price. Affordable Water Heating? I don't think so.

This company is awful.....unethical, over priced, and horrible customer service!!

Here's our story:

On Tuesday, my husband was getting ready to leave for work and noticed a leak under our water heater. In a rush, he asked me to call the number that was on the tank to have them come out and look at it. The number was for Affordable Water Heaters. I gave them a call and they were out within a couple hours. The Technician looked at the leak and said it was not repairable and it had to be replaced. So, he called the main office to get a quote. He handed his phone to me and the guy on the other line quoted me $2495. I about choked, because that seemed really high, but really didn't have an option at this point. I have four children (two are babies) and I need hot water and I had no way to get ahold of my husband (he's in law enforcement and it's extremely difficult to get ahold of him) so I reluctantly said yes, go ahead and replace it. When I questioned the price, the answer I got was "well water heaters are expensive". When my husband got home, he was appalled! We both lost sleep over it that night knowing that we got ripped off. He took off work the next day and got a quote from Russell's Plumbing and for the same exact job, they said it would be $800-$900. I can understand a slight difference in prices as companies do fluctuate, BUT $1695.00!! That is just wrong. My husband then called Affordable to ask them why it was so expensive. They said it cost extra, because they had to get it up to code. Well, we just bought the house two years ago and it was already up to code. So, again, they lied! When the Technician left, all he left me was a receipt for $2495.00. There was no breakdown of the costs and he didn't leave me the warranty manual for the new heater. My husband asked about this and they did nothing to rectify the situation. So, now we have a heater with a warranty, but no manual and no itemized receipt. If they were honest, don't you think they'd be more than willing to provide a receipt? Bottom line is they took advantage of a woman at home with her four kids knowing her desperate situation. I don't know how they sleep at night, but I will do everything in my power to ensure this company's unethical business practice gets out there to everyone! Do NOT use this company under any circumstances. Call Russell's Plumbing. They replaced my Father in law's water heater for $500 and you quoted us $800-$900 for the same job we paid Affordable $2495 for! I'm just sick thinking about it. They should not be in business.

Watch out for their bait and switch! Quick response but once here they tried to charge for a lot of unnecessary work. My husband sent them away and we wasted the $99 house call charge.
