We went to Advanced Fertility for the first time 2 years ago after 4 failed IUI's with Kaiser. Dr. Radcliffe was clearly knowledgeable and able to point out several places of error within kaisers method. I appreciated that she was to the point, easy to understand, and seemed to be interested in taking us on only if she believed she could help which I appreciated. Somehow we got pregnant with my daughter while switching to the practice so we did not actually use their services at that time.

Fast forward 2 years, ready for a second child we did not hesitate to return to Dr. Ratcliffe. She again was very professional, honest and had a plan. Going through IUI at Advanced Fertility was a totally different experience. They were monitoring several factors that kaiser never checked on and therefore were able to do a much more educated trigger of the follicles. It's been 9 months and I'm happy to say I'm writing this holding a very healthy, day old, 9lb baby boy.

The whole office staff was exceptional, Bonnie was warm and inviting and reception was always helpful, knew who I was and even would run out to the car for me knowing I had a toddler in tow. I cannot recommend advanced fertility enough. Their expertise is unparalleled.

I had 2 ectopic pregnancies after having my Daughter in 2019. We desperately wanted another baby so we decided IVF would be our option since I had one tube removed and the second ectopic was in the other tube. We did my first round which ended up in a chemical pregnancy but I did a back to back cycle and I am now 9 weeks pregnant!
Everyone in the reviews talks about Dr. Ratcliffs bedside manor. Personally, it didn't bother me. I thought she was fine. She knows what she's doing and she did her job well obviously. I would rather get results and and a straightforward response and actions. Bonnie and Natasha were super caring and definitely helped me all the way through. If you want a caring and smart team to get you pregnant, then you found the place. Thank you so much for making my dream of becoming a mother again come true!

Dr. Ratcliffe was great. She makes the plan that is best for the patient and doesn't just go by the same plan for everyone. Everyone in the office is helpful and responsive. I've experienced another place and had a horrible experience there but coming here to advanced fertility associates was such a better more comforting experience. Definitely recommend for your IVF adventure.

Advanced Fertility receives 5 stars from me because they are efficient and knowledgeable.

First, their efficiency. Coming from a very challenging experience elsewhere I was shocked with how quickly you are seen each appointment. You are not forced to wait. Also, they really work with your cycle. Once I needed blood work on a major holiday and they were there to do it. This was such a breath of fresh air after being at a clinic that won't even seen you on weekends.

Secondly, Dr. Ratcliff is fully based in science and fact. She is straight forward and precise which feels nice especially if you've been in the infertility world for some time and haven't heard clear answers. Her demeanor can be shocking at times if you aren't prepared for it. So do not expect a super gentle energy.

I am currently 10 weeks pregnant after 9 iuis (7 of which done at a different clinic) and 2 rounds of ivf. If you are searching for a clinic who knows their science and will be straightforward with your options, this is the place.

I am so grateful to Dr. Ratcliffe and the team at Advanced Fertility Associates! I went to see her with some concerns about my fertility after many unsuccessful months of trying to conceive. She sat with me for at least an hour and explained everything I should have learned in basic biology, and what might be getting in the way of my ability to conceive. She spent a lot of time with me in that first session, listening and educating, and it was very enlightening. She really knows her stuff and I felt that I was in capable hands.

After running some tests, she recommended we do a medicated round of IUI. BOOM! Twins on the first try!!! What a miracle. A miracle plus the care and skill of Dr. Ratcliffe.

Yes, she's very direct. She tells it like it is, good bad and ugly. She has a dry sense of humor that I really liked. She isn't a therapist, she isn't your best friend. She's here to get you pregnant, and she's really good at her job. And isn't that what matters most?

I loved my time with her, short though it was. I strongly recommend her on your fertility journey.

My husband and I have been on a journey to try to have a second baby. We conceived our first naturally and thought we would have no issues, however after 5 years of trying we met with Dr. Ratcliffe. We successfully completed one round of IVF and have now graduated from Advanced Fertility. We are grateful for the staff and all the support they give during this process.

Dr. Jennifer Ratcliffe MD, PhD is a Miracle Maker together with her Clinical team Nurse Practitioner Ms. Bonnie Day, Natasha, Teresa, Christine, the whole staff are so professional and helpful every step of the way. I'm 54 years old just got married and just had a Successful IVF procedure for the very First Try with Dr Ratcliffe. After 5 years of research, I went back to Dr. Ratcliffe. She performed a Miracle that UCSF cannot do for me. It was a very long journey but it's all God's Blessing for me to be a patient at Advanced Fertility Associate Medical Group. My dream came true! I am now 10 weeks pregnant. Dr. Ratcliffe and her team are God's instruments to make our dream come true to have a child. My husband and I are deeply grateful and thankful to Dr. Ratcliffe and her Clinical Team for being on top of everything and caring professionals every step of the way.

I'd give 0 stars if possible. My wife and I where treated less than human by Dr Radcliffe. Our consultation was less than 3 minutes. We did even get a chance to fully explain our situation before she completely discredited us and asked to leave. I will not go into details as our situation is private. At least we got a refund. Neither of us have ever been treated this rudely by a doctor before. No compassion at all.

My partner and I went to see Dr. Ratcliffe as one of our preliminary steps in getting pregnant as a same sex couple... the receptionist/staff at the facility were all lovely but our experience with Dr. Ratcliffe was HORRIFYING.

The letter below is what we sent after our appt. No response from her whatsoever.



"Dr. Ratcliffe,

I write this email with the full understanding that you may put it right in the trash or let it have no effect on you, but I genuinely hope I'm wrong.

Leaving my appointment with you the other day was the grossest I have felt leaving a doctor's appointment in years. Which is really saying something.

Your staff was lovely and welcoming and accepting, but from my first interaction with you directly, I felt cold, unimportant, and like another number to check off your list.

The journey to becoming a parent is a deeply personal, anxiety-provoking, and vulnerable experience, particularly when it is necessary to involve medical professionals for fertility assistance or issues. For those of us who are lucky, it is a team effort. And you, as the fertility specialist, should be a part of that team. And should WANT to be a part of that team.

I brought my team with me precisely because of this - my partner, as well as my sister, who is actually a doctor. It was a pretty sad starting point when you didn't even acknowledge her presence - you didn't introduce yourself, make eye contact, or even say "hello".

During the office portion, you blew through your list of questions, interrupted me multiple times, and didn't actually listen to my full answers. By not exhibiting any active curiosity and shutting me down mid-sentence, I experienced your comments as condescending, and walked away feeling disgusted and violated - when that's 1,000% not what this process should be about. All of this led to a major spike in our anxiety and not feeling like we had a safe space to ask you ANYTHING. Nor did you ever once ask if we had any questions. All because you didn't care to listen to the full information or human part of the experience.

We could have avoided a lot of this had you asked me or my partner ANYTHING about our situation, what we had already been through, or why we were even there in the first place. We all felt like you were just trying to get out of there as fast as you could, and that you had no care about being a part of our process. The irony is that if you had started with an open-ended discussion of our goals and questions, and asked what we already knew about the process/medical information, we could have saved you a large amount of time and had a much better and more informed discussion.

Then, we transitioned from that uninformed and unhelpful tirade, directly to an ultrasound that is inherently invasive. Just as in the previous discussion, you did not create a safe space or any connection that would lessen that feeling of invasion. You gave ZERO warning at the moment of you entering my body in that way. So many women have trauma, and I am lucky enough to have been able to do enough work on mine to remain functional through your careless process... But I know many women and female-bodied humans who would have suffered significant emotional trauma by your callousness and lack of awareness (my partner among them). And as a physician, my sister (not to mention my partner and I) was horrified by the lack of concern and awareness this demonstrated. And you - as fertility specialist and a physician, have an opportunity to use your knowledge and intention to create a safe space for your patients, to understand both their goals and their fears, and to be an ally through this process.

I cannot know if you have always interacted with patients and run your practice this way. Or if what we experienced is because you are jaded, but I hope, for the sake of the families who come to see you in the future, that you take this to heart and make changes.

We will not be returning to you or your practice. I would rather drive to San Francisco multiple times than have my partner or myself be subjected to that kind of treatment in such a vulnerable time in our lives, ever again. Especially one that involves creating human life."



Needless to say, we will not be returning but hopefully this helps anyone else who is thinking about seeing her before you have to go through what we did.

It has been almost two years since I went to this clinic for a consultation so you can take my review with a grain of salt. My husband and I went to this clinic for a sperm analysis and we were looking for an IUI.

The receptionist was great, I will say. She answered all of our questions, she was patient with our questions, etc.

But once we met the Dr. (Ratcliffe), we confirmed the reason for infertility and in the same visit were told we couldn't be helped until I lost 70lbs. That we would be damaging our child if we attempted to get pregnant and I was essentially a bad risk. It was super disheartening and the delivery was extremely rude.

I just want to say we found an amazing fertility clinic in SF. They made us feel comfortable and we got pregnant our first round! I was much happier taking my money to a clinic and doctor who (in my opinion) deserved it. I know how daunting and hard it is to be going through these services, I urge others not to waste their time or money on any doctor who doesn't understand this and won't go above and beyond to help and support you!
