Can I bring them last year's moose meat ? Do they accept and process game meat into their secret recipes?
A:
Hi! I'm pretty sure he can... call (860) 522-1588 and ask for Joe, he's the butcher!

Sad
Going to miss all the nice food and sausageHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 4, 2011Previous reviewI have been going to Adolf's meats for a long time.
The meats , sausages, coldcuts, ect. are excellent.
Most are made & smoked at the shop. It usually is very crazy busy during
the holidays, so expect a wait. The native language in the shop is Polish, , but everyone speaks english, so no worries.
It feels like 'home' to me... I can't tell you if I have any favorites, as they are all great ! Items at the holidays are traditional smoked eels
(I know, I know, Just try it..the meat is very sweet & tasty)
Kielbasa of all types, and the fresh Bratwursht are killer.
This shop is NOT closed ! They had a fire a few years back and were closed for repairs.
! Open for business !
As a tradition for this pilgrimage, I usually get some coldcuts, and some of the rye bread, and make &eat a sandwich in the parking lot ! - Mar 5, 2017
Oh my...the aroma when you walk through the their heavily urbanized and unsuspecting front door of smoked meats, sausages, and cheese. I immediately start my "hunger engine" and never ponder the final tab.
We've been patrons of Adolf's since my German mother-in-law introduced us back in the '80's. Back then owned by a German immigrant family and somewhere in the 90's was sold to another family, but of Polish disent. However the high quality never faltered from owner to owner.
A trip in on a Saturday morning is like stepping across the border, I only wish I knew more of their language to interact. Not to be concerned, even with the broken english (not MINE!) you can easily place your order. You might need an interrupter when browsing the small and quaint grocery shelves and freezer section. I usually go by visuals and instinct.
On my most recent visit, I was stocking up for a "MarchToBierFeast" we have planned with friends. Brat's, Worst, jarred Red Cabbage, & fresh Sauerkraut were the key target. However, the fresh breads and slew of other meats and cheeses always get the "engine" running un-throttled! Fresh thin slices Pastrami, Cheeses (names lost), and smoked steak hanging in the open on the wall drove me to the brink. The smoked (aged) steak unbelievable & at $9.99/lb a treat to savor.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - PF L.Avon, CT061Nov 22, 2020
Hartford has lost a true gem with their closing. Thanks to the entire team there for all the years of great food and wonderful service.

Truly one of my most beloved businesses in the area. If there's one thing I can't skimp on, it's goooooood keilbasa - and no, that's not Hillshire Farms or anything you're going to find in a large chain supermarket. I grew up on authentic products from Polish delis thanks to my Polish mother, so I'm spoiled when it comes to quality smoked meats.
Adolf's has a truly incredible selection of German and eastern European-style meats from keilbasa, wurst and veal loaf to blood sausage and cold cuts. Plus peirogi and other Polish specialties! It's nice to have this spot in Hartford so i don't have to trek to New Britain's Little Poland neighborhood every time I'm craving something authentic. The fact that they smoke their own meats makes all the difference, and I feel so lucky to have them in the city.Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Peter B.Manhattan, NY05Jul 21, 2018
This place is the best, if a little strange. I love it.
European ham that will BLOW YOUR MIND! Give up on Boars Head. This stuff is exponentially better.
Great meat, time old time butchers.
Don't be put off by the strangeness, this place is fantastic.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lisa P.Southbridge, MA138875Apr 3, 2015
Authentic, quick & helpful owners. They smoked, there own meats. Big selection of cooking and grocery needs. All the meat, sausage, cheese and cold cuts all in one place.
My favorite is the fresh bratwursts. You can even pick up paper towels if you need them.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nadine S.West Hartford, CT3010May 23, 2019
It's a small place with German a.o. delights. Doesn't look like anything special from the outside, but when you walk in, it's like a little treasure. The owner and people working there are always friendly and spoil you with that extra sausage you didn't ask for. The meat is very fresh and everything is prepared in the back of the store. They smoke their own meet too, and it already smells amazing when you walk in. I don't go there as often, but walk out there with a smile every time.

Decent selection of smoked meats. As well as polish and European goods. But the neighborhood was scary! I haven't seen that many police cars in one part of town in a long time... would I make the trip back? Probably not

This is the best German / Polish butcher and sausage maker in Connecticut. The product is authentic and tastes just like it does in Germany and Poland (I grew up in Germany and have spent time in Poland). When I purchase, I always visit from out of town, I always buy lots of sausage to freeze.

I stopped by here after searching for something different on yelp. This place is amazing. Not only did they explain all there products to me but they also let me taste a bunch of different items. She even made me a small sandwich to try with there house made liver wurst which was one of the best things I have ever tasted in my life. I normally do not like liver wurst but from Adolf's. I also purchased half and half's and kielbasa. Can't wait to go back.
