They get the 4th star because their service is fantastic.
Food was pretty good but didn't blow me away. I thought their sushi rolls what too much crab salad and in general too many rolls with lots of filler on their menu. I had the 808 and the rainbow roll and both were good rolls and featured on the happy hour menu but I might not order them again.
We tried the crunchy rice and these are massive. Delicious but heavy and too big to eat in one mouthful which leads to that awkward "sushi nibble" that never goes well.
For non sushi fans the Kobe Sliders were pretty delicious as well.
It's not a place I would go to for the most authentic sushi in San Diego and the price tag seems to think they are in the running for that category. But this place has a great well rounded menu - sushi that will please the sushi eaters and a great apps menu for those friends that like to eat at sushi restaurants but not eat fish (we all know one of those people....) - Will T.South Park, San Diego, CA2562261/9/2021
Just stood there for 35 minutes while no one came to the front door to help anyone, 8 people in all outside waiting. Actively avoiding the group, proven by the name taking and further disappearance for 20 minutes without updates.
The whole time my order was on the table just inside the door. We want to use you during this time but you need to do better. It's a 3 star only because I don't want to be mean but please read this and get it together. Customer service still matters. - Christa C.San Francisco, CA2026811/21/2022
I love Aburi's food very much, but the service is regularly lacking. I often call for takeout and no one ever picks up. After multiple attempts, I can get through to place an order. More than once the person taking the order has seem super confused about items I'm ordering, like they aren't on the menu. That's no big deal, we all get confused and maybe they are just super busy and distracted, I think to myself. But then whenever I go to pick up the food, there are tons of workers just sitting around talking to each other and not really doing anything. Idk, hate to put this out there during covid when times are tough for everyone. But I just want to keep loving this place and for it to reliably give me love back!! Service is making that hard.

Came I for their happy hour and was NOT disappointed. Their hours for Happy Hour are great (4-7pm), for us.
We got our Sake and Sapporo to start and then got the crispy rice, 808 roll, rainbow roll, caterpillar roll, crunch roll, and chicken gyoza to wash it all down.
EVERYTHING tasted delicious! I was most surprised by their crispy rice. Has some heat, so watch out.
Service was fast, friendly, and top notch. Only "negative" thing I could say is that parking  can be a littLe difficult, but I can't blame them for that. If anything, looking for parking will build your appetite and make the food taste better. - Havilah Vashti U.San Diego, CA2281113456/7/2021

Ordered a few things for take out. It was ready early, packaged up neatly and had a seal on the bag to ensure nothing and no one touched it after it was packaged.
Everything was beautiful, even a little flower on the sushi roll. Service was quick and friendly. They have a table at the door to pick up, enough distance to space out while waiting. Food was soooo good. I recommend the shishito peppers, no one does them better! - 275164312/11/2020
We finally tried them for take-out. Â I was impressed by the way they managed the order. Â Their estimate was accurate and our tempura came out a few minutes after we arrived. Â I think they had our crunchy roll and condiments ready, and then put down the tempura as we checked in. Â We only live a couple of blocks away, so it was still hot and crunchy when we got home. Â The veggies were generous, but two small shrimp was not worth the additional $4. Â I would go for just the veggie tempura next time. Â I'd like to try some other dishes.

Don't even try to put in a delivery order from this place because YOU WILL NOT GET IT!!! They need training on how to make and receive orders which should not be that hard since it's a job that requires very little skills.

Aburi Sushi is first rate. Â I phoned in at happy hour couple weeks back during Covid time. Â It was take-out and everything that was ordered was included just as specified and was ready for pickup when they said it would be. Â All starters and entrees were fresh and very tasty. Â The price was reasonable and we got the happy hour discount on top of that. Â Don't use a food delivery service as they add on so much extra cost. Go get it yourself.
I'm local so I'm definitely going back.
