A-1 Deli

We were in town for a few days and stopped by for s sandwich based on reviews. We were impressed the first time with the quality and quantity of their sandwiches. Roast beef was tender and the roll was nice and soft. The ham and cheese sub was large and very good. A couple of days later we went for dinner and had roast beef dinner. Again the roast beef was very tender, large servings of beef, potatoes, corn and Italian bread. Unbelievable servings for the money, very friendly staff! Wish we could take them back to Florida.

It's been a year and we were back trying them again. Just as good as last year! Scallops were amazing. Large and sweet. We can't get them like this in FL. Chocolate pie was awesome. Excellent!

Food is nice home town cooking . It's an old diner with cafeteria style service . Clean

We had an excellent roast beef dinner this evening. The kids ordered a generous portion of chicken tenders. Extremely great service by everyone in the establishment. I will be back the next time I'm in Haverhill.

Good to Great!! Always many wonderful home cooked entree's. Homey service too! Ask for anything and the owners will accommodate you! Best and healthiest place to eat on Merrimack Street in Downtown Haverhill!! Wear your best and use plenty of napkins to clean up after the meal! Prices and quality will amaze!

This is truly one of the last breakfast diners left. So good and greasy in the best way!! French toast is out of this world and everyone working there seems like family.

I just ordered breakfast! Eggs with steak and home fries, and chocolate chip pancakes. Even my dog didn't eat the steak! I threw up in m mouth TWICE! Back in the day, this was the place to go! Not sure what happened, but I should be calling a doctor and the health inspector as opposed to reviewing what they call food! It was just disgusting! The steak smelled....idk!! Horrendous! The hf, were literally to die for! I just threw up in mouth again! Don't waste your money! Not sure how they are still operating! Worst food experience I've ever had in my life and I eat out a lot!! I'm just trying to help!

Like mother used to make, but better and a lot more!!!!! Plates are so heavy it sometimes takes two to carry to table. You NEVER leave feeling hungry!!!!

This was my first time eating here & it was such a reminder of what dining used to be as a kid in the 70's & 80's. Good old fashioned comfort food, with cafeteria trays and all! Will definitely be going back

Fantastic! Homade food! What a gem! This is how real food used to be everywhere but since corporations had taken over the food industry places like have disappeared. I remember eating at famous cafeterias in Chicago growing up. Those places are all gone. Haverhill your very lucky to have a place like this. I sure wish I had a place like this in Arizona! When the last of these places are gone nobody will know what real food is all about. Support your local family businesses or loose them forever. Thanks A1 for bringing me back and providing great service a great meal and a great experience!

Perfect for what it is. Service is good, food is okay but it's a warm and friendly ambiance. Perfect for families.

Quite frankly, if you don't like this deli, then I don't like you. I'm not trying to sound over dramatic here. I have been accused of that, sometimes it was true, sometimes people were full of it. But if you don't like this deli you don't even know what a deli is. Trust me on this folks, I've been to the best of the best. I've been to Katz's in Manhattan. In my opinion, overrated and overpriced. And what's the deal with "you keep the ticket" or we reserve the right to apprehend you? GTFOH with that.

If you want a great Reuben on Rye, then go no further than A-1. The murals on the wall will either astound you, or prove you don't have a beating heart. I would give this deli 6 stars if I could. A true old school institution. Or you can go to G's down the street and get a fake Ribeye and be charged $28 dollars for it. The choice is yours.
