Gil & Bert's Ice Cream

Gil and Bert's is a cute and quaint "order at the window" ice cream shop in Cranbury. The ice cream is home made, rich and creamy; and the flavors rotate throughout the season. They have 3 sizes; kids, regular and large. On this particular visit, I ordered a kid size and it was the most generous serving of a kid sizes I have ever seen.

I ordered the Chocolate Lovers Chocolate this week. It was good; creamy and rich, but I'm a chocolate fanatic! My sister had the Flying Fish Fudge. It was vanilla ice cream with fudge pieces, cookie dough and M&Ms. She loved it. The sugar cones were especially tasty for some reason, real crisp. Perhaps, it was a brand new package they had just opened.

I've been here about several times now. The service is always very polite and super friendly. They let you try the various flavors before committing, so thats always a plus. In the summer time (weekends and evenings) the lines can be long, but they move along.

It must have been the timing because there was no line. Service was great and you can get samples if you're indecisive.

Ice Cream Sunday:
Comes in regular or large only. This option includes your choice of ice cream, two toppings, whipped cream, and a cherry. It's big enough to share but why would you want to.

Kid cones:
For big kids like me too! A generous portion.

Located on Main Street as a walk up shop in the heart of Cranbury, Gil & Bert's Ice Cream is worthy of its high ratings. I love hole in the wall type shops that produce good product and provide friendly service at reasonable prices, and that's exactly what you'll find here.

We went with the Viking Vanilla and Strawberry Fields. Both were rich and creamy, and were a delicious treat. While the Viking Vanilla was more of your typical vanilla ice cream, the Strawberry Fields really stood out as high quality as it contained pieces of actual strawberry inside...probably the best strawberry ice cream in the area. Although it's cash only, the prices are reasonable with generous portions, with a kids or regular size more than ample size to satisfy any sweet tooth craving. I'm happy to support small businesses like Gil & Bert's, and recommend them to others.

Gil & Berts is an ice cream shop on the side of a house. It's very homey and fits the vibes of the surrounding area.

They have lots of different flavors and they are homemade too! :)

I like to change it up from time to time, but I think their strawberry fields is one of my favorite flavors.

It's dog and family friendly. There's chalk for kids to play with & use on the sidewalks. There's pup cones for the cute pups that visit.

Nearby is also a lake & park so u can also take a nice stroll while having your dessert. :)

First time here can't believe I didn't know about this place before. Very cute location and benches out in the front. The prices are very reasonable, and for a small scoop it was a lot for me. Loved the options and very friendly staff. Would recommend this place to anyone who is near the area.
Will definitely try more flavors as well as other options.

Lovely window shop with lots of tasty options and an excellent staff.

Had a scoop or their German Chocolate Cake and another of their Wicked Chocolate. Both were very good.

There are a few benches where you can sit an enjoy your frozen treat. Ample street parking.

Maybe it's early in the season but the 2 times we have gone here they were out of half the flavors.
Also, the lines were so long - 15-20 minutes (maybe lack of help or training new staff - only 2 on one window). Was always a great local ice cream spot and hope it gets back to normal. BTW the fudge ice cream sundae was very good.

Ice cream gets 10 stars - I drive far out of my way to stop here. Counter staff are hard working, payient, friendly and helpful. Owners need to staff more than one person at the window especially on Sunday nights, or sell packed pints/quarts by call ahead only (or early hours). I just waited in line for over 45 minutes and saw 10 groups of customers leave the line without ordering.

I love this place! The icecream here is so creamy and packed with so much flavor. The workers were super sweet and let us try as many flavors as we wanted! Plus the price was wonderful (got all four items for about $14).

I love this place!!! This is one of the best ice cream places I've been to. It's a small family-owned shop but has some of the best flavor varieties and the most creative names. It operates from what used to be their formal living room (which I think is so cool; they have their entire business in a room and a window). You have to wait in a line outside and when I went, the line was beyond their ropes, even when it was raining.

I got the gimme smores, and I loved the crunchy bits. My friend had the Better Batter Cake Batter, and that was also so good. The ice cream has so many cool fun flavors that I wanted to try them all. In fact, you can try them. You can ask them for samples of flavors, which is amazing!.
