One of the better date night restaurants in the city to visit if you can break away from what you call normalcy. Hats off to the executive chef who happens to be my cousin, you have done an amazing job, everything we sampled was delicious, definitely will have to come back and try more.
Here is the list of things we tried and how everything measured up...
small sample of soup - light creamy soup was offered before everything else, didn't see it on the menu but I believe it was a starter to cleanse your palette before trying everything they had to offer. I would probably order a cup if not a bowl of this soup next time, it is that light.
Avocado Toast - dish lives up to its name, fresh avocado sliced and topped with several tidbits, I want to say thin sliced radish, diced bacon, pickled ginger, semi sweet chutney, and the veggie I could not identify but it was light, the dish on a whole was very good, 4 pieces of sourdough bread, with each having a helpful serving of sliced avocado and the other toppings, probably the only time I have had something this fancy served and it tasted as good as it looked
Braised Brussel Sprouts was next on our menu - lets just say I am not a fan of brussel sprouts, from my recollection only two places have these veggies prepped a certain way where I can say i'm a fan, this place is one of them, the other is on Bst in San Mateo.
Har Gow Cavatelli - shrimp with shell shaped noodles, presentation alone was beautiful, didn't want to eat it because of the presentation haha, one of the dishes that hits every part of your mouth, another must try
Octopus - more a less a staple in my diet growing up, their version is different in a good way, flash fried sparingly drizzled yellow sauce with grape tomatoes, the octopus itself was the large tentacle type not diced served almost whole. chewy, seasoned well, must try
Duck Sandwich with sunny side up egg - Sampled this sandwich, the duck patty was different, to describe it let say you had chicken fried steak made with a duck meat, different is how I can describe it, not like anything I have sampled before. If you are a fan of duck this is a must try, tell em to add an sunny side egg haha
Grilled fish - I am not sure what kinda fish (hamachi) it was but what ever it was, it was good, how can I say this, I really don't like fish so if you can make me like it and almost finish the plate you know it was made good. must try
Fries - deep fried in truffle oil thin sliced frites and garnished with furikake need a say more haha
Panna Cotta - warm chocolate cake, raspberry sorbet, so bad for diabetics but so good!!!
Milk Chocolate Ganache - melted marshmallows and ice cream how can you say no to that, just say yes!!!
Chai-Horchata- as if the night could not get any better, this after dinner treat is served in a liquid form, hands down best idea ever, horchata is already a yes for me, chai also a yes for me, and COGNAC!!!!!!!! yeah COGNAC!!!!!!!! and it is not a small shot it is heavy shot in their OH MY GAWD!!!!!! piping hot, once it touches the lips, DONE DEAL!!!!! gonna have to come back and grab the barista that makes this concoction and hire them to make it at home
food ***** must try everything, duck craklins is must try for me next time, and more of that Chai-horchata
price $$
service ***** very attentive staff, very helpful staff
ambiance ***** modern, clean, open, airy, good for dates, or couples
Definite must try if you are in the city, reservations are recommended
Hats again off to the chef and his team, one of the best meals I have had in a long timeHelpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jan 20, 2020
Came by for dinner the other night after reading on Eater that they have a prix fixe $39 dinner! Made a reservation online and the restaurant called a couple of days in advance to reconfirm!
The restaurant itself was quite elegant with super tall ceilings. The staff was very cordial and welcoming! They even offered to hang out coats upon arrival!
Opted for the pasta course add-on as their pasta is made in-house!
The meal started off with the chicken liver mousse amuse bouche which was fragrant.
Started off with the soup puree which looked like a small portion, but for some reason was very very rich that I had trouble finishing it...
The bread course was okay.
The pasta add-on was the highlight of the evening with fresh pasta with lamb ragout. The challenge here was that the lamb was a touch on the saltier/heavier side.
The pork chop looked good and was actually a decent portion, although there was no chop to be found. The chop itself was mediocre as it was on the thinner and leaner side. Nopa has the best pork chop in SF! As I was super stuffed from their super-rich soup, I wasn't able to finish the pork chop dish...
Ended the meal with the semifreddo which was also super-rich. By this time, I was too full to continue!
Their menu changes every couple of months and there is a 5% employee health surcharge!Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Jan 17, 2020
This restaurant just switched its menu to feature an affordable prix fixe ($39) with a pasta add-on ($10) and I'm a big fan. I dropped by for my usual TGIF dinner here and had their prix fixe, featuring "Winter in Tuscany", including the pasta dish and had a good experience.
The menu included the ribollita (soup), papardelle with lamb ragu, pork chop and the coffee semifreddo. They gave a couple of extras - a pate for amuse and their focaccia. All of the items on the menu were good. The pasta dish was the highlight for me but the ribollita was a little on the salty side. A couple of Rose Lemonades were my beverage pairing for the night.
With tax and tip, this was about $80. I think it's good value and I'd recommend them for people who are looking for a nice meal without breaking the bank.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 1 - Jun 1, 2019
Came here for date night and it's a small intimate restaurant in the heart of SF. It's a tapas style restaurant so they recommended around 3 dishes per person and share family style.
We got about 5 to 6 dishes and we ended waiting a really long time for our food. We probably spent about 2.5 hours in the restaurant and our server wasn't very attentive.
The food was very mediocre and nothing special. I liked the fish dish and the short rib the most. Their menu is seasonal so ask your server for the dish recommendations.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - May 14, 2019
From a weekend brunch perspective, 1760 is a good option. A gastropub in the true sense of the word, brunch here is solid, with some dishes served straight-up brunch style, including eggs and bacon and a brioche French toast. Other dishes were Korean influenced including the Kimchi fried rice topped with a poached egg served alongside house made fish cakes, or the spicy chicken and waffle croquet, which reads more like a meat donut with a maple glaze.
All dishes are served family-style and you can make a reservation. Its actually a good deal for the level of brunch on offer.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Sep 7, 2019
Intimate and comfortable, fun ambiance with young pac heights crowd. Monday nights are for champagnes, wink wink.
3.7/5, rounded up bc math. Every dish we ordered was good, drinks were...creative:
Crispy chicken: 4/5very impressed with the lightly breaded nuggets and how amazing the salsa verde were;
Charred broccolini: 3/5, always a hit or miss ordering charred veggies as they might be extremely ashy and dry, even the cream won't help much :( ;
Pork belly: one of the best I've ever had! 5/5, my favorite of the evening. Tender, juicy, with perfect pickled onion for a balanced texture, drizzled with balsamic vinegar for a refreshing glaze;
Thai ravioli: amazing! 5/5; coconut creamed with a hint of the heat and highlighted by the basil. Beautiful coursing our for us, so the whole dining experience was balanced and not too heavy.
Braised short rib (beef): tender, fatty, and flavorful.
3.7/5: attentive service, fun environment, great flavors with an asian twist. The drink 1760 though, is like one of the worst I've had.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 21, 2019Updated review
Wow. This place was really amazing. Can't wait to get back here and try to rest of the menu.
Started off with the Burrata. Really luscious and delicious. Also did the tuna crudo which was outstanding. The octopus and the bass were delicious, but the shining star was the uni bucatini. So amazing, and doused in uni butter. Uni butter. Say it again. So good.
Great food, amazing service and a super cool location. Go here often, you won't regret it.
((UPDATE 4/21/2019)) Had Sunday Easter brunch here and while the food was excellent, it seems like they really haven't yet figured out their service model for brunch. Things took a long time, the server was hard to find even though the place wasn't that crowded and overall the staff seemed just a little bit clueless compared to their excellent service at dinner. Go for the food, be prepared to manage the experience a bit.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Aug 27, 2017Previous reviewWow. This place was really amazing. I've only been here for drinks at the bar but had a great experience and will be back in the future for food. Cocktails might be expensive but you get what you pay for: damn good drinks. Bartenders are very creative and knowledgeable about their inventory and what flavors go together and can recommend something to your liking, or customize something for you. My go-to is a Negroni if I'm out getting a cocktail cause sometimes I like to be fancy...their take on a negroni was so refreshing even though it is a spirit forward drink. Pro tip, if you have a late res. for HOPR, come here first for a few cocktails!

Honestly - 2.5/5
Decided to grab a drink around 6 pm and got seated at the bar. The bar area is a little constricted as there is a wall separating it from the dining area. The drinks were okay (got the martini). They did not have Hendricks or Terroir (St George) which is what my friend asked for. So we had to make do with whatever gin they did have. In the one hour that we were there it seemed like they were not prepared for Saturday evening at all. No cocktail onions, no A1 sauce (with the burger), no bitters for another drink my friend asked for. It just seemed really strange that they response was also "oh we are out of that, or oh we don't have that". My friend did like the burger though.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Dec 25, 2017
Prepare for a meal full of [pleasant] surprises.
Seemingly nothing on the menu comes out the way you would expect it, and that is a good thing! Chef Foronda keeps you guessing with a nice balance of savory and sweet flavors, and uses texture to his advantage to make each dish pop.
Kimthi and the rest of the service staff was excellent all night. (Thank you Kimthi for warming the world with your smile!!)
Definitely recommend doing family style and ordering a bunch of the small dishes.
Top recommendations:
- fried olives (w/ linguiça sausage & shrimp)
- Snake River Farms beer tartare
- crispy chicken (w/ berbere spice - almost cinnamon-like)
- crispy, rich brussel sprouts
Try to snag the corner booth and get the added bonus of people-watching the Polk Street passersby!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 18, 2019Updated review
Food: had a few dishes but only enjoyed the little gem salad, burrata starter, and crispy chicken. The shishito peppers were ruined by the sauce on top, the short ribs we not tender, and the burger was average.
Drinks: I enjoyed the hummingbird but my friends said the drinks they ordered were too sweet
Service: our waiter was very nice and attentive but the food and drinks were very slow to come out.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0May 12, 2018Previous reviewFood: little gem salad with wasabi dressing was sooo good, steak tartare wasn't my favorite, pork ribs were good but not amazing, uni bucatini was good (could've had more uni).
Wine: had a glass of Bodegas Olivares (Jumilla) wine which was really good - light like a PinotJan 1, 2015Previous reviewCame here for a second time and was again blown away by the octopus. The Brussel sprouts were not the best I've ever had but the ribs were amazing and will definitely come back for these. To drink, the celery chartreuse drink was my favorite.
Starting to like this place more and more.Oct 4, 2014Previous reviewCrispy Octopus. Enough said.
I live pretty close to this restaurant and decided to try it out one day. Although a bit pricey, the dishes we got were very good. The crispy octopus was one of the best octopus dishes I've ever had - perfectly cooked and coupled with a chorizo paella. We ordered the lobster ceviche based on the yelp reviews and it was good, so would also recommend it. The beef tartare was ok, as were the pork ribs.
All in all a good place, and I will definitely be going back for the octopus.
