Great selection of traditional tea set- scones, finger sandwiches and cakes. Got Darjeeling and Chamomile.

Absolutely fabulous. The suite (4201) is huge and beautifully decorated with a terrific view of the Hong Cong harbor light show at 8:00 each night. Service is the best of anywhere in the world, and I've been to most places and can make a fair evaluation and comparison.

The bedroom is large and beautifully appointed with a perfectly lovely Chinese mural behind the king sized bed. There are two desks, one in the living room and one in the bedroom, making it convenient for two people to work. There is a full bath and a powder room.

Snacks are brought to the room with turn-down service and free water in bottles is abundant.

The horizon Club is available for relaxation and champagne and treats. Cars are available to take guests to meetings or dinners. The hotel is located on the island side, not the Kowloon side, and is convenient to the convention center.

Floral displays and beautiful art are found throughout the hotel. It is a real treat to stay here. There is a spa and swimming pool as well as several restaurants . The hotel and services are pricey but worth it.

Our party of 9 came for afternoon tea during the holidays and ordered 5 traditional tea sets and 4 apple tea set specials. The traditional ones were $488 for 2 and $288 for 1, while the apple tea set specials were $538 for 2 and $318 for 1. To be honest, I would have been very glad to just get the traditional ones, but the apple tea set does contain more savoury options, if you're not a huge of 3 plates of sweet desserts. The food was absolutely stunning and delicious. Yes, I have a sweet tooth, but the desserts were exquisite - not overly sweet but also so carefully crafted to create the perfect combinations of texture and flavours. The savoury options included small finger sandwiches and foie gras. I despise eating sandwiches and bread, but these finger sandwiches were pretty good - very fluffy bread and a mixture of different fillings - egg salad, smoked salmon, beef.

I chose to get a tea, and the teapot was adorable - there was a little "mitt" for the handle part and a strainer in case any leaves got into your tea. The cutlery and dishes are also so, so beautiful. The atmosphere was wonderful, with a high ceiling and exceptional live music playing the back. Service was perfect - not too overbearing but always there to refill your tea or collect empty plates. Simply a perfect afternoon tea experience and I would love to come back.

      Easily a 5 star (maybe 6 if I could).

This is hands down the best hotel on Hong Kong Island (maybe even in all of Hong Kong). This is also the flagship hotel for the chain of Shangri-La Hotels.

Great location (close to Hong Kong Park, Admiralty Station, and not too far from Central).

Great designed rooms and the lobby too.

Overall great service. Love the complimentary fruit basket and chocolates.

However being the best hotel, a room here costs range from $5,000 a night to the very top of the range for $40,000 a night. Dolla Dolla bills yo'

Many years since I stayed here. Service is still very good, large rooms, and great harbor view. Very clean. They replaced the marble floor in the small shower stall, very practical and so much better than worn floor.

Main reason for staying here was I wanted their dinner buffet (been ill and did not eat well for several days). The spread is huge, with many choices from different Asian countries, and plenty of seafood. Everyone goes for the split lobsters first! See photo. They took off a claw from each and put all the claws together to make a chili stir fry which is also good. They also have a small prime rib, one of my favorites from these buffets. The seafood was excellent, had two helpings of the lobsters. Tempura selection was good, but the shrimp was going very fast, had to try several times to get it. Then it was nice and fresh. The noodle varieties were good. The dim sum was ok, cannot compare with the many specialty restaurants. Picked a shumai just to taste. Prime rib is a bit of disappointment since it is now probably choice and not prime as years ago. A little tough, good sauce though. There is so much choice it doesn't matter. Just felt bad leaving half. The dessert always look good, but I tend to avoid them except for the fruit slices which you can coat at the chocolate fountain. That is always good and they have a good selection of fruit.

There were many family groups there, and they were very good about taking doggie bags, especially with the kids.

The InterContinental buffet in Kowloon on the harbor is better. But overall, this is still a good buffet, especially for convenience on the Hong Kong side.

My office booked me into this hotel for a week-long stay, so I had no choice and didn't do much research in advance, which is unusual for me. It's located in a high-rise complex attached to a shopping mall, like many in Central.

I arrived using the free shuttle from the metro station where the airport express drops you off, it was the first stop on that particular route.

Lobby is classic "fancy hotel" with a lounge bar in one corner, and checkin at another. Had a slightly amusing experience as the check-in agents seemed to assume that the guy that also got off the shuttle at the hotel was my partner, and I had to explicitly say "I'm checking in, too, I don't actually know that guy" after a few minutes.

I had a room with a view of the peak, and it was old-school luxury, lots of dark wood and gold accents. It's not the way I would choose to decorate my house, but it's pretty even if it feels a bit 1980's.

The main downside of the hotel is the slow elevators/lifts. There are only four for a pretty tall hotel and there were some points where I had to wait nearly 5 minutes to get in one. I allocated extra "lift time" to prevent being late for meetings,

Absolutely lovely outdoor heated pool on the 8th floor, most evenings I would be the only person having a dip, although it does get busier with families during the day.

The breakfast buffet was included in our rate and was good but not amazing (separate review for that at Cafe TOO). Because I was busy with meetings in and around the hotel, I found the food court in the basement (Great Food Court) a helpful resource for food on the go.

Overall, I was impressed with the hotel. While room decor wasn't amazing, the rooms were extremely comfortable, with great bed and bedding, nice towels and robe. Efficient room servicing, and night-time turn down. I was pleased the room had a kettle and full tea
making equipment as well as the ubiquitous nespresso machine.

Probably the most exquisite Japanese restaurant I've ever eaten at. The sashimi was so fresh and beautifully presented. A lovely experience

Gosh, I miss this place. I stayed here several years ago while on assignment. I was blessed. This place was out of this world. The elegance, the room materials, the bathroom - were all EXQUISITE and EXCEPTIONAL. My assignment allowed me to stay in an Executive Suite, so I don't know what the regular rooms are like or even if there are regular rooms. If this place is all Executive Suites, get ready for greatness.

I never understood how extremely successful people can always look so well rested and ready to work. It's because they stay in a hotel of this caliber.

I was extremely busy in Hong Kong, but just taking a rest in this room and its bathtub, gave me enough energy to hit the town again at night, fully recharged.

IT WAS AMAZING! I MISS YOU!

AND I LOVED LOVED LOVED HONG KONG!!!!!!!

The Shangri-la experience is just that. The rooms are HUGE, the service impeccable, it is synonymous to the best of Asian hospitality. The bathroom amenities are lovely, the slippers and bathrobe fresh and not threadbare or over washed and coarse.

The separate shower and tub (deep tub) you can soak in. The TV, coffee/tea amenities. Fresh fruit daily. The ceiling to floor windows. The lounge with outdoor seating upstairs is a great place for meetings. Of course their restaurants are all good except the Japanese restaurant Nadaman (over priced and service is unusually bad for a Shangri-la). They are well known for Petrus.

The lobby lounge is a great meeting place. Cafe TOO: redefines buffet. Also, one of the few places with a decent breakfast service at 6AM. The Lobster Bar with out door seating is also a great hang out.

This is also a conference hotel so, careful when you book as it fills up fast during conference season.

The spa, gym,.. it's a Shangri-la. This is also a go to place for Mainland Chinese so, it caters to their style.

Please don't confuse the Island Shangri-la to the Shangri-la in Kowloon. Different locations.

I was just there for a staycation and boy did I love it.
