Anthropologie
Category: Women's Clothing
Neighborhood: Midtown East
While (hungover/still wasted and) panicking about going to work in the same clothes i left in the day before (... wore out that night ... and woke up with the next morning ...), I see a tourist go into Anthro. I yell at the cab to stop and run out. Luckily Anthropologie in 50 Rock had super special holiday hours that day .... as if they KNEW, or something.
Basically, I beelined frantically down to the sale/clearance room on the bottom floor. I dropped my coat, my bag and said "we have 45 minutes to make this look like a new outfit". I was in a white oxford button up, black leggings and suede boots (took off my grey vest and tie). Like MAGIC, 3 Anthro girls began to fill my hands with different skirts and sweaters. One even asked what time i had to be at work at and said "We can do this", scarily almost like this was very commonplace.
I got there at 9:05a. I left by 9:20a with a sweater and skirt that 100% hid my walk of shame. It was amazing. I even had enough time to grab coffee on the way to work. Those girls were heaven sent - great service.
And i will say that since that fateful (hot mess?) morning where Anthro saved my ass ... I shop there twice a week now on my way to work because I am addicted. I am addicted to the clothes and the feel. Addicted to the AWESOME customer service. Addicted to shopping (but thats another story in its own)

There was a cover - $5 or $10, maybe even $15. When we got inside, there was hardcore porn playing on every TV screen and on the big projector screens. There were male dancers in little breifs on every surface and these dancers get very touchy feely with the patrons.
The music was awesome and alot of fun to dance to on the large dance floor on the main floor. The main floor played alot of dance and techno. Downstairs was more hip hop music. The drinks were almost pure alcohol. It was a great place to really just let loose with some friends and get wasted.
Overall, had a good time. Interesting experience for this vanilla Long island girl. But it was really a good place to just let loose
The bathrooms on the bottom floor were daunting to this Long Island girl. No locks, co-ed bathrooms ... and later on, admittedly i had accidentally walked in on some ... indiscretions.

I will write that the second we sat down, we barely had a moment to even touch the menus before being hankered for an order. When we asked for a few minutes to look it over, it felt like we were asked again and again almost every minute on the minute. Ironically, when we were eating, my water didnt get filled once during the whole meal and when we wanted to get the check, no one was around for a while for us to ask.
Aside from that, over all, this place was pretty average - nothing special, nothing terrible. I wouldnt go out of my way to eat here again.

Interesting atmosphere. Reminds me of the dean's office/law library. leather arm chairs, shaded reading lamps, book cases all around, and James Bond playing everywhere. Even the bathrooms had wallpaper that emulated bookcases. The servers were dressed in black suits (red for the woman). We joked over drinks that if we pulled the right book on the shelf that perhaps a secret door would swing open and reveal a hidden BDSM dungeon and that this is where a naughty secret society for the east side elite would meet.
The drinks were pretty strong. I had a Manhattan - which knocked me off my feet and my friend had a Jack and Coke. The server was super attentive - almost to an annoying point. Ironically, when we wanted to close our tab, we couldnt find her for a bit. I guess thats life for ya.
Definitely not my type of scene, but it was interesting to experience.

McGees Pub & Restaurant

The food was pretty good - typical bar food and prices - large portions. The first time i had gone with a coworker, we saw a guy eating some sort of beef stew that looked and smelled amazing. We've had some great drinks and laughs over cheese fries and nachos and they were nothing to complain about.
The bartenders are friendly and you never have to wait too long for a drink, even when its busy. We have even met some of the regulars there and theyre a pretty cool crowd.
Our only gripe would be that they need a bit more seating and that sometimes the music is a bit too loud! but in spite of that, McGee's is our after work place :-)

The food is pretty good, cheap and filling. We like the Tokyo Fried Chicken, the Chicken Teriyaki and combo plates are great! If you are in the area and want some quick cheap japanese lunch, check them out!

Atomic Wings
Categories: American (Traditional), Chicken Wings
Neighborhoods: Theater District, Hell's Kitchen
However, the last time that we had ordered in at work, we were less than satisfied. The delivery took super long and our food was very cold by the time it came. There were no celery sticks/carrot sticks and blue cheese to come with the wings at all. I also was not very happy with how the onion fries and the BBQ boneless wings had tasted.
Other than that one time, I love atomic wings. love love love them.

We ordered a second time a few days later. Again, the delivery took extremely long - much longer than average for most places in the area. We had ordered chicken fried rice with EXTRA chicken - and were CHARGED for extra chicken. However, when we opened the fried rice, we counted 4 peices of chicken. We called up thinking perhaps they made a mistake or forgot to put the chicken on the order. They dont care about their patrons and were completely unreasonable and difficult on the phone about correcting this mistake. After trying to resolve the issue (over the phone for almost a half hour), they were unprofessional and said "I cant do anything for you" and just left it at that.
Needless to say, we will not be ordering from this establishment again. They were rude and unaccomodating and have 0 customer service. The portions are SMALL for the price and the delivery takes FOREVER. I'm sorry, but for your thai fix, try some place else!!!!

Bobby's Burger Palace
Category: American (New)
I was surprised when we walked in and we had to order, take a number and seat ourselves. We started at the menu for a few minutes. I ordered a Philly Burger 86'd the peppers, Onion Rings, Vanilla Shake and then my friend had a Nappa Burger and french fries. Came out to about $30 bucks.
We sat down at the long squiggly bar table and were mildly confused by the semi-waitress that was semi-serving us. We quietly debated whether we were supposed to tip, buffet tip or not tip her at the end.
The food came quite quickly. My shake was pretty small for $5 - the vanilla tasted lot like straight up mashed cake in a cup - wasnt impressed. My Philly Burger had griddled onions on top of it that felt kinda cold :-/ My friend's Nappa Burger was dripping sauce and goat cheese all over the place. The onion rings were huge and crispy, but the fries were kinda soggy and tasteless. That was okay, since we were experimenting with the chipotle ketchup and the jalapeno sauce. I wasnt a fan of the burger sauce though - very very smokey with a kick but an odd texture and something just not clicking with me.
Overall the food was okay, but i wasnt thoroughly impressed. For $30 i was expecting a bit more.
Date

Service is sometimes hit or miss, depending on the day. Sometimes i get overly attentive staff, other times i cant get my water refilled for the life of me.
Appetizers: the calamari comes out very big and round and looks like literally a plate of burger king onion rings. its a bit rubbery, and ive definitely experienced much better calamari elsewhere. The miso soup is too much seaweed, and tastes like hot water with seaweed - very little taste. The Spring Rolls have a small portion and arent anything terribly special. The sushi is okay, but nothing to rave about.
Entree: Definitely go to the Ishi Yaki Filet Mignon - They bring out a hot flaming stone and marinated cuts of steak for you to cook and munch on over rice. Delish. The duck is pretty good and comes in a large portion so its great for sharing. I have had a few other entrees over the years but they were nothing special.
Basically, the place is trying a touch too hard to be trendy, and the prices are a bit too high for the quality of food. By no means is the food bad, but for what you are paying, you ... well at least I expect better.
