My favorite bar in Hoboken by a long shot sports a good selection of beers and a casual atmosphere. Most importantly, they play good music (sometimes live acoustic-type stuff). Northern Soul is one of the few bars in town that doesn't feel compelled to blast dancey, clubish music at an unbearable volume.
I've only heard great things about the pizza at Queen Margherita and have been a little anxious to give it a shot. When we arrived on a Saturday night without a reservation, however, we were told it'd be 9:30 before we could get a table. I was too hungry to wait a few hours, so we ordered a couple of pies to-go and used the hood of our car for a table.
I'm glad we did.
Both the Marghertia and Bianca Nieve were delicious. The crust is flavorful and chewy and the toppings are good quality and flavorful. I can't wait to go back and sit at a real table.

The Mudtruck

I really wanted to love the Mud Truck because of it's bright orange exterior and nicely designed packaging. Sadly, they serve a mediocre cup of coffee in a city filled with really good coffee options. Next time I feel the truck's cheery visage beckoning me, I'll just find the strength to keep on walking.
Mike M. said it exactly right - this is the kind of place you want to root for because the owners seem so passionate about food. Ingredients are carefully selected and they're not willing to put out an inferior product just to make a buck (on our second visit there were no salads because 'the market didn't have anything good').

I can't take it anymore - how can Pulino's have a 3.5 star rating while L'asso (completely mediocre) maintains a 4 star rating? Has Yelp's ratings counter broken -- or have Yelpers completely lost their mind?

We stumbled into The Sweet Life after visiting the Hester Street Fair. They've got a super fun & delicious collection of sweet items and I wanted to eat everything in sight. If I wasn't so full from breakfast, I probably would have done some serious damage.

We didn't experience any of the nasty staff/owner stuff many others have seemed to experience. The closest we came was when the server seemed to look down on me for ordering "just plain pancakes." I can live with that, though - there are 800 kinds of pancakes to choose from and I was being boring!
Pancakes were great, by the way. So was the bacon, sausage and OJ. There wasn't anything ground breaking about my meal. Just tasty food at a reasonable price - I'd go back.

It's an absolute zoo inside, but they are super nice and will get your package shipped in no time. They've looked addresses and phone numbers up for me and have gone out of their way to make sure my packages were sealed up right and sent using the optimal (cost vs. delivery time) method.
