This place opened around Christmas, and it shows... they still haven't worked out all the kinks. The front of the house is A MESS. We stood at the hostess stand for 5 minutes before one of the 4 (YES 4) people on the floor noticed us. They sat us down-- without menus. After about 5 minutes I started looking around for some help, and the waiter came over, pointed at me, and said "I'll be right with you," clearly not noticing we didn't have menus, because he came over pen and pad in hand and asked us what we wanted. I just stared at him and then he realized we didn't have menus. My husband was ready to walk out at about minute 8, and by this time we were at minute 11, but the menu is extensive so it kept his interest. This place calls itself Asian Bistro-- and they have Thai, Japanese, and Chinese food. I was a little scared of the sushi since I'd never been there, so we ordered crab corn soup, pad thai and beef with assorted vegetables. The corn soup was really good, especially considering it was only 4.95, which was enough to feed 2 people, and it had REAL crab in it! The the shrimp in the pad thai were perfectly cooked-- juicy and plump and there were quite a few of them for 8.95. The beef was also very tender and the vegetables were crisp and fresh. In my opinion they should fire the busboy who was totally clueless (he sat us without menus, and refilled my iced tea by taking it back to the station and then returning-- with no ice cubes in the iced tea... and I just pictured his grubby hands all over the glass). There seemed to be a manager type person there but they were hiding in the back with the servers fidling with the computer system. Our server was pretty nice and appologetic, but he had two tables and only checked on us twice. It seemed like everyone needed more training.
Anyway, the food was GREAT, and hopefully they work out the service kinks. I might try the sushi next time. Bottom line, the food is 4 star for the price, but the service was horrendous so they lost 2 stars.
