I am not a fan of Sentry. Not this Sentry, and not other Sentrys. This grocery store is close to my house, but I will (almost) always drive farther for a better shopping experience. They never seem to have the items I want or need. I will say that my needs go beyond the basics. I tend to favor specific brands, as well as natural & organic products. If all you need are the "basics" and don't care specific products, Sentry will do fine, but for my own needs, it's sorely lacking.

This place has a good vibe, it has atmosphere, it has some of that Bay View hip-ness that scares the people from the suburbs... and those are all good things. They've also got some pretty tasty food. I opted for a cheeseburger but went with the "healthy" option by leaving off the fried egg and gravy, and it was indeed, a great burger. The fries were also top notch. Service was a bit slow, considering the place was about 60% empty, but we were in no rush, so it was all good. There's vegetarian and vegan options as well, so bring your weido friends who never want to go out to eat with you.

They tore down the old McDonalds and built a new one! I don't think the quality of the food has improved, and I've only used the drive-thru, and not been inside yet. I'll focus on the drive through... There are many lanes! This is the most advanced/complex/confusing drive through I've been in. It goes into multiple lanes and ordering stations, and then they all funnel together into one lane for pickup. I'm assuming that this speeds things up for ordering and food preparation during rush times, but I tend to only go here late at night when nothing else is open. So if you want to use the drive through, late at night, when there are no other options... I recommend it!

Kurt's Steak House

Good food, strong drinks, nice atmosphere. This place is old-timey, but in a good way. You sort of feel like you've stepped back in time, but, you know, in a good way. I don't know that I saw anyone under 30 years old in this place last time I was there, so if you don't like those damn hipster kids all around when you're trying to enjoy your steak and old fashioned, well, Kurt's is the place.(This place does get busy, so it's worth calling ahead for reservations.)

Qdoba Mexican Grill

Nice people, good food... and it's right next to Noodles so if you're out with someone who prefers pasta to a taco, you can meet in the middle. I'm still disappointed that Qdoba got rid of the Chicken Mole Burrito, but there are still plenty of great menu options I love.

Water Street Brewery Lake Country

I previously didn't post a review because I was doing business with Water Street Brewery, but now that I'm not, I can let it fly and tell you what I really think!

I think it's pretty good.I lived and/or worked near this location for the last 4 years, and have had many meals here. It's not the greatest meal I've ever had, but it's consistently good, and there's something to be said for that.

The staff is accommodating enough, and I've never had any bad experiences that I can remember.

I've also visited the location in Downtown Milwaukee, and had similar experiences. I'd rate it a solid "good" and feel confident in saying so.

Just a note: This store is no longer associated with the Ceriello company, so its changed quite a bit. That's what people tell me... I haven't bee there recently to check it out though...

I guess it's nice to have a small grocery-type store downtown, but it just doesn't carry the things I need. Gaglianos used to be in this location and they did carry many items I liked (I'm a picky shopper.) They do serve grilled food (burgers) in the summer out in the parking lot, and I hear they are pretty good...

Stone Creek Coffee

Update - 7/5/2011

Just a brief update because I mentioned the free wifi in my last review. If you use Windows, you may want to avoid the wifi, I've seen at least one case of a Windows XP PC that appears to have been infected after using the network. I use Mac OS X and iOS, so no problems personally.

I actually don't drink coffee, but I've been know to hang out here, and my wife who does love coffee loves this place. They've got a few non-coffee drinks on the menu for people like me (hot chocolate!) and just a handful of food items like cookies, cupcakes, and the typical bakery you'd find at a coffee shop. (If you need something more substantial, there's a Jimmy John's a few doors down.) Oh, there's also free wifi, and if you sit in the right place, you can use an electrical outlet. It's never too crowded, and the staff is pretty friendly. Also, there's free water.

I thought I should update my review since they tore down the old building and built a new one. First, I've not been in the new building, and have only used the drive-through, which now has multiple lanes! As for the food, it's still terrible, and after I eat it, I feel ashamed and slightly sick. Ugh...

Five Guys

Great burgers and fries when all you want is burgers and fries. If you're in that "to hell with eating healthy!" mood and just want a delicious burger, and amazing fries, this is the place. There's a McDonalds nearby, as well as a Burger King, but if you just want a burger and you go there instead of Five Guys, then you my friend, are a fool. A damned fool.
