Chipotle

Best Burrito Ever.

Chipotle does one thing right, and they do it really, really well.  When I first went to Chipotle after last Thanksgiving, I had the best burrito of my life.  Maybe its the fresh, organic ingredients or the fact that your burrito is built to order, but they know exactly what they're doing.

Oh, and you won't leave hungry, trust me.

Soooo good!

Pret is the perfect lunch destination if you want a great tasting sandwich quickly.  Everything is made fresh, and they even serve fresh hot wraps and sandwiches.  They also have a small selection of soups daily, if you want to mix it up.

Walk into Pret any day around lunchtime and the place will always be lively.  People are constantly buzzing in and out, deciding, choosing, and buying sandwiches; the place feels alive.

Anna Maria's Restaurant

If I had to use one word to describe Anna Maria's, it would be delicious.  The food here is absolutely some of the best I've had in Larchmont and the price is dead on.

The place was all but empty Thursday evening, so we missed out on Anna Maria's real atmosphere, but it meant we get speedy service.  It was our waiter's first table, which was funny because he was telling us about the "Pasta Fagy.."(Pasta Fagioli) before the waitress training him, cut him off, haha.

The Caesar Salad I had was great, maybe only La Villetta's was better.  The calamari were great and came with this wonderful marinara sauce.  I had the Fettuccine Alfredo special (the best), but I also sampled the risotto with sausage and broccoli rabe which was so, so good.

So, if you're in Larchmont and looking for a good dinner, go to Anna Maria's, and don't cross the street to Chat 19.

Bangkok Thai Restaurant

Certainly not the most flavorful Thai I've ever had, but still tasty.  The menu offers an average variety, maybe priced a little too high.

The dumplings were okay, but they lacked flavor and the meat was dry.  However, the Pad Thai with chicken was delicious.  The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the seasoning, meat, and everything about the dish was just right!  I tried some curry that was also at the table.  They were alright, nothing exceptional, but they do know how to make food spicy, if you get the right dish.

The wait staff were really friendly and helpful.  I don't think my water ever got below half full because it kept getting refilled. Admittedly, it wasn't that crowded, but the wait staff were still very friendly.

Decor is lacking, heavily, and the neon light by the window might annoy, if you sit close enough, with its crackles and buzzes.

Espana Wine & Tapas Bar

Espana brings the best of wine and tapas to Larchmont.  While Espana does offer food items other than tapas, it's a lot more fun to order a bunch of tapas and share them with your group.  The wine selection is excellent and will not disappoint.

Espana is always very crowded on weekends, so plan accordingly.  If you arrive early (around 5:30pm) you should be fine.  Otherwise, make sure to have a reservation.  Even on weeknights Espana is bustling which demonstrates just how popular this newly opened tapas bar is becoming.

Roseland Ballroom

I went to see my first show at Roseland back in July when I saw Streetlight Manifesto, Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, and one last band which I forget.  Anyway, a quick summary of my experience would be 'one of the most awesome nights.'

Now maybe it was the atmosphere that Ska bands create, but it felt really, really fun to be there.  Music was great, and I could clearly see the stage and performers from anywhere on the floor (I'm six feet) and the moshing wasn't over-the-top.  I didn't buy a drink or food of any kind, but they seemed over priced to me, much like the ticket.

Unfortunately, Roseland doesn't sell tickets directly because it goes through TicketMaster which apparently has a disease that causes it to tack on a multitude of abnormal fees to its tickets.

Roseland was definitely a great venue for the Ska concert I went to.  What I've seemed to notice is that people like the venue better if they are having a good time, which is dependent on good live bands, so make sure you come see a band (or bands) that you like a lot so you have a great time.

Utsav Festive India Restaurant

Neighborhoods: Midtown West, Theater District

I've eaten at a wide variety of Indian restaurants (although haven't been to India) and I say that the food at Utsav is virtually top notch.  When I first ate here back in February 2007 for a business dinner, Utsav gave me the best Indian meal I had had in a long time.

The service is very good.  All of the wait staff do a good job of  making you feel like you are the center of their collective attention until they forget a tiny part of your order (usually Nan or a side-dish) after a longer-than-average wait.  Nonetheless, they are friendly and quickly remedy the situation.

The decor is exquisite.  Everything, from the rugs to the walls, looks luscious and very grand.  I do not recall a part of Utsav that was an eye-soar for me.

In short, Utsav is an excellent choice for Midtown Indian, especially before or after a show.  If you have your heart set on eating here, than make sure you get a reservation because it gets crowded.  Overall, Utsav fell just short of 5 stars because of its pricyness and lateness of its food.

Il Maestro

This is a great little Italian place on Main Street in Hyannis.  Parking is a bit sparse but that shouldn't be a problem because it isn't a huge restaurant.  Il Maestro really does not get too crowded because it mostly year-round folk who come here to eat.  There is a great sense of community and everyone is abundantly friendly.

The food is very good and the portions are just right.  Unfortunately the food is a little pricey, but that fact is overlookable considering the quality of the food and the friendliness of the environment.  I would definitely reccomend the buffalo mozzarella as an appetizer because it is completely delicious and the prosciutto that comes with it is very nice too.

If you're looking for Italian and want a good alternative to Fazio's definitely come here.

The Nautilus Diner

The menu is huge!  There are so many choices and a lot of the food is pretty good.  When ordering, keep in mind that you're at a diner, meaning don't expect a great meal out of the fancier dished they offer.  Simple things are pretty good, like most diners.

The pricing was a tad high, but not extortion by any means and the place could've been cleaner, but hey, its just a diner.

Anyway, stop by here if you want a quick lunch or dinner.

Mamaroneck Diner Pizza Restaurant

A-okay is what this diner is.  Nothing too fancy in terms of food, but I usually keep it simple, gyros, paninis, wraps, or quesidillas.  Pastas, steaks, et all are mediocre so if you are looking for something better, find your way to a steak house or a tavern.

The staff are varied, some are friendly and attentive while others aren't.  Ever since the renovations finished the diner looks very nice on the insides and hasn't really been dirty as far as I can tell in any way (save the bathrooms).

In short, the Mamaroneck Diner is great for a quick and cheap bite with friends or breakfast in the morning.
