Beer is quite good. Better food than RRBC, Pizza's are mediocre. Wish they would kill half the TVs to make it more a brewpub less a sports bar.

Great, unique place in a odd part of Santa Rosa. Went for lunch, will go back for dinner. The ceviches are amazing, as is the chicken stew. Highly recommend. Get a certificate on http://restaurant.com and go check it out.

A great stop, and a gorgeous place to stay. We contacted Stefano  - they were closed the day before Thanksgiving, but he was nice enough to host us to tour and taste his property and wines.
The property and guest room is stunning, and Stefano is a gracious host.
He tasted us through many of the wines (which we left with some) and then took us throughout the property.

A recommended stop when in the area, and a place to stay.

Hanford House Bed & Breakfast

The Hanford House earns all of its praise. Rooms range from $99 to mid 200s, and are worth it, especially when you factor in location and breakfast.
Their hospitality is 2nd to none, from checkin to checkout.

The rooms are comfortable, private (I usually shun B&Bs), and the breakfast is worth writing home about.

Will be back.

If you can find the new updated Residence Inns, which they are slowly doing, they are great. These old apt style ones are pretty tired.
Service is good, bed decent, but I'd take a renovated Hampton over this.

Walking distance to a few things - if you don't mind a 15-20 minute walk.

Free wifi - not super fast 800k. speed.

I knew i should have vetoed when my sales rep picked a restaurant in the hotel, but didn't have time to research and went with the flow. In a town with many great places (like Tannin 1.5 miles away) what a waste of a night out.

The food is  ok, thats about it. The pizzas are pretty bad, if you like traditional, wood fired pizza oven pizzas.

I could see maybe grabbing a quick lunch. Unless your an Applebee's kinda person, move on.

Tannin Wine Bar and Kitchen

As a Sonoma County resident, wine geek/writer going on the road can mean paying high prices for bad wine. I got several recommendations on Twitter for Tannin and was really glad I went.

The place is well designed, warm, comfortable with both inside and outside seating. Fortunately the large screen TVs play old movies, not ESPN.

The wine list by the glass, and bottle is great. I was surprised to see some very small Vintners, brand new releases (Shane 2010 Rose') on the list. Markup is higher for someone in wine country, but standard anywhere else, and very high quality.
They also serve all wine by the glass by a taste, a 2-3 oz pour, most for 3-4$ so you can try all kinds of things, which I highly encourage.

Barry, the GM whom I had been communicating with on Twitter (@tanninkc) was nice enough to come say hi, and we ended up wine geeking as much as he could for a busy night.

Oh, score, this place serves food til ~11 pm and stays open until 130. The neighborhood is also very cute, I won't be staying in Overland Park anymore, its worth the 20 min drive when visiting clients.

Dinner earlier elsewhere was meh, so I had the beef carpaccio, which had an egg poached in bacon fat on top....freaking amazing.

A score, I spent hours hanging out here, and will again.

I visited Hook and Ladder again for the Follow the Olivet Road event last weekend, and had a great time, and found some  great wines. Service once again was great - kudos to them during a busy event, they never missed a beat, I never had to wait, and there was a friendly response every pour.

H&L makes a variety  of wines. My personal two favorites: Their RRV Sauvignon Blanc, crisp, aromatic, and their Cab Franc is a gem of a find.
Recommend.

This is for delivery only.
Pastas - 1 star. Delivered lukewarm in containers not designed for heat retention, and mediocre pasta at best, considering the moderate price.

Pizza - decent value for money, but nothing overwhelming so far, may try again. 3 stars.
