Jane's

Hmmmm.  I wanted to really like Jane's.  It was so cute.  But it kind of went down hill from there.

The menu was a little blah.  It was pretty small and that would be ok if it was small yet full of inspiration.  But it was not.  I ordered a frittata, the special, and it was dry and lacking flavor.  Plus my coffee cup was empty for nearly the entire time we were there.

So while the first impression was that this place would be lovely the rest of the experience was subpar.  There are so many places to go for brunch in the city so one would think that to compete a key component would be serving great food.  This place was a miss in my opinion.

How in the world it took me this long to go here is beyond me.  This place is hands down the best hot dogs and fries.  The atmosphere is pretty much awesome.  How can you go wrong with great food, fun/retro/kitschy decor, and the owner taking your order?

And seriously, the food is good.  The ingredients are of excellent quality (not always true for hot dogs...).  If you have yet to venture out to Hot Doug's- go.  go now.  And make sure you have cash with you.

This place is cute cute cute.  The atmosphere is very stylish, boutique, and friendly.  There is some serious attention to detail in the decor and they carry that attention to detail over to the services.

For the first time ever I decided to have a little faith and be a model for a haircut.  My last cut (at a different salon) had resulted in way too many layers so after many months of growing them out I needed a cut I could live with.  The stylist, Tara (yes same name as me!), did a great job and gave me a hair style that I can actually work with.  I will admit that it was comforting that the owner was consistently checking the cut and making sure that it was at a high standard.

Back to the decor - the warmth of the peach walls, perfectly lined up pretty bottles of product, chandelier, ghost chairs, and framed mirrors all work together to create a beautiful setting.

This salon is just lovely and I will certainly be going back soon.

Our dinner here was sooooo good!  Really, the food is very tasty, atmosphere is nice/comfortable, and the service was good.

The kabobs were seasoned and cooked to perfection... seriously.  The bread and hummus was delish.  Our group left here very full and very content.

The only thing that I found a little off was that the tables were a little too close together.  I am all for being friendly but they are nearly at the point where you say why not just have one big communal table if we are going to sit that close?  This is not that uncommon in the city and it didn't hinder from us being able to have a wonderful evening.

We will definitely go back and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place.

This is a nice place for a yummy little brunch.  It is cute, the food is delicious, and the service is ok.  It is a nice place to go when you are in the mood for a non-rushed, leisurely brunch... and could easily be followed by a little shopping as it is in such a cute area.

I did find the service to be just ok.  Not great but not bad.  Our server was friendly but pretty absent.  We were in the mood to sit and chat so this was ok for us but if I had a busier day planned it might have been a little annoying to have to flag him down to pay.  And I really don't love it when they give you the bill before you are even halfway through your meal...

But I would definitely go back here.  The baked eggs & polenta was just too good to not be satisfied when heading on to the next part of the day.

This was an amazing find for the best sandwiches and bread.  If you haven't stumbled upon this little lunch gem you will want to make it a point to go soon!

The food is beyond good... it is filled with flavor and is very fresh.  We ordered the buckwheat crepe style sandwiches and they make the crepe just for you on this little old-fashioned looking crepe machine- so charming!  They make their bread fresh daily.

The atmosphere is very charming too.  It is small and there are only about 3 tables.  But it was a late lunch for us so we were able to get a table.  Simple decor as one would expect and adds to the "hidden gem" charm.  The ladies that were working there are very sweet and helpful.

We will definitely be back.  Actually, just writing this review has me thinking that I may need to make a stop for a croissant on my way to work tomorrow...

I had heard great reviews for this place from friends and the reviews on here are all quite positive... so maybe my expectations where just too high.  I didn't love it.  It was ok on some accounts but just overall not that great.

We went for a laid-back dinner on a Friday... and it definitely is laid-back which was great.  Since we were planning to eat, we headed to the back room which has a few tables... the music was not coming through back here so it was just loud conversations from the neighboring tables which didn't help the atmosphere.

I ordered a Stella which was very stale tasting so moved on to the 312 which was definitely better.  My chicken sandwich was really more greasy than I go for in bar food.

I might give it a second chance if just for the patio during the summer but I won't be rushing back.

This place is pretty decent.  I would go here again if in the area.  Overall, it is pretty much typical for a tavern & grill.  They have a nice beer selection- my husband was quite pleased with the options.  The food was ok- typical bar good but sometimes you just want a burger and so it works.  It wasn't too packed (which was nice as I am not one to want people standing over my table while I am eating and they are waiting for a seat) and still had a good energy.

Order the mac-n-cheese bites- yum!

What a great place to go for dinner.  It is a fantastic choice for a date night or for a girls night.

The atmosphere is so warm and inviting.  It is a little cozy in there and the tables are fairly close together.  The candle lighting and warm tones of the decor all this to be cozy rather than annoying.  The open kitchen is nicely set up and adds a bit of energy.  The service was excellent- attentive and casual.

The wine is tasty and there is a nice variety to choose from.  The food is a bit on the "fancy" side but there is enough variety in there that someone as picky as me will still be able to find something they will enjoy.

The prices range but lend towards a "nicer" evening out- we were able to enjoy an appetizer, our 2 entrees, and shared a carafe of spicy red all for right at $50- not so bad for a mid-week date night.

We will definitely be going back to Volo!

Brian is an incredibly talented photographer who is also an extremely wonderful person.  We are beyond thrilled with both our wedding photographs and our engagment photos taken by Brian.  He truly captures a moment and seeing the photographs can take you straight back.

Brian was truly a delight to work with and I would without hesitation work with him again.  He has such a wonderful character and it leads to outstanding service.  We had numerous guests and family comment on how impressed they were with Brian both at the wedding and then again when they saw our photographs.

I highly recommend Brian Kinyon Photography.  After my first meeting with him I completely trusted that he would do a fantastic job and even with those high expectations he was able to exceed them.
