LinQ Buffet

I didn't expect much other than a full gut going into here. Even with such low standards it was a disappointment. The food here is greasy and bland. I tried most of what they had to offer and the only things that had any flavor were the cole slaw (so chinese!),  the sweet and sour sauce and the orange chicken. That's not to say they were good, just that they had some flavor, unlike the rest.

The noodles in the chow mein were flavorless mush and the "salmon" was some form of unidentifiable grey substance floating in oil slick tainted water. Overall I've found more appetizing things growing in the bottom of my refrigerator than what was served here. Disgusting - never again.

 Update - 6/16/2009
I have to agree with Kristinamarie S., the service has gone way downhill compared with what it used to be. The servers I have encountered there lately have all been surly teenagers who don't seem to have the slightest interest in doing their job.

The food is as good as always, but the feeling like I'm welcome and that my business is appreciated is gone. For better service, and good, but somewhat different, food I head to Pho Saigon as much or more than KT lately.

K.T. has incredible food, friendly people, huge portions and outrageously low prices. How can that combination be beat? It's my favorite Vietnamese place by far. I'm a big guy and a single dish is almost more food than I can eat and at most you're looking at $7 for one. Everyone I've taken there has raved about it too.

I've eaten there three times and just hung out a the bar a couple more times than that and have really enjoyed this hidden gem every time.

The pizza is fantastic, as are the other dishes I've had. Most recently I had a snapper that was drizzled with streaks of really nice pesto, yum!

The bar gets a crowd of regulars and is quite friendly too. The vibe is easygoing and makes you feel at home. It has a nice selection of beers on tap, and even more on bottle. There is also a decent wine list.

I'd recommend it to anyone looking for good, casual dining in the area.

It's Peet's, it's good. But after testing it out a couple of times, I don't see any reason why I wouldn't drive across the freeway to the nicer one by Nugget.

Peet's Coffee & Tea

This is my favorite Peet's in the Roseville area. If I lived in Roseville, it'd be a daily habit. As it is I manage to get along with the Peet's embedded in the Raley's in Auburn, which is not as good as a real Peet's, but better than anything else around.

I like it basic - regular brewed coffee. Peet's does it right, strong but smooth.

Very mediocre. My sandwich was acceptable but nothing special. I didn't like the fries much either, they tasted like they were fried in bad quality grease. On the plus side, the drinks were good, but not worth going back for.

Basement Wines

This is my #1 regular hangout. Seriously if I was to tally up the amount of money I spend in here, I'd probably faint.

In any case a typical visit to Basement entails some combination of the following, usually all of them:
 - Good beer on tap and bottle
 - Great wine by the glass and the bottle
 - Good music (via satellite or sometimes live)
 - Fantastic sandwiches, pizza, chili, and other food
 - Intelligent conversation
 - A game of darts (real) or cribbage

Owners Lee and Laurie along with bartenders Mark, Kay, Carrie and Jovanna all help to create an atmosphere that attracts a loyal crowd of regulars as well as occasional visitors from here and there. Next time you're in Colfax looking for food, drink, or just a respite from the freeway, come on in!

The only real highlight to this place is that it has pretty decent beer. The food is typical pre-fab junk that chains like this shovel out by the trough-load.

None of it is worth trying to fight your way through the stacked to the rafters horde of douches that inhabit the place.

La Fornaretta Restaurant - CLOSED

Yes it has closed in Pasadena. But if you're up for a road trip you can check out its homey new digs in bustling downtown Newcastle, CA. Sorry for you Pasadena folk, but your loss is our gain. The food is astonishing! I had read about them coming to town, and ate there for the first time tonight. I had some of the best fresh steamed clams ever on top of great linguini with a delicious red sauce full of garlic and italian parsley. Yum!

The sound and ambiance are great and screen quality is good.

Most of the seats are broken.

I used to like this theater better than any other, but the last year or so it seems like they almost never get any decent movies. If, apparently by accident, they do happen to get one I want to see it's gone in a week or less while utter crap that I wouldn't even watch on video smells the place up for weeks on end.

I have essentially given up on the place.
