But other than that, I say no thank you to the bouncers who can be really aggressive about people wearing hats (because apparently hats are bad news), the craptastic beer on tap and the shrieking, drunken crowds that pour in as the evening gets later.
I was there for a social event, so I was among friends and could tolerate it for a while. But a girl only has so much patience, and I made a hasty retreat as soon as I could, dreaming of an outdoor bar where hats were celebrated and buses don't drop off bar crawlers...
But here's the thing: a lady cannot live like that forever (or at least she SHOULDN'T live like that forever). Plus, the right lingerie can make you feel like a million bucks, and what's not to love about that?
From the moment I walked into the store to the moment I left I was treated to exceptional customer service. Liz and the rest of the staff were attentive, friendly and super helpful in finding me just the thing I was looking for - in the right size. Turns out I was walking around in a bra that was too big for me. And I thought I was so smart. Sigh.
I went in for a convertible bra (that's a bra with straps that turns into a strapless one) and left with two Betsy Johnson sets that are crazy cute. They've got stuff in every color (anyone want to loan me $98 for this awesome pink one?) and size, and it's stuff that will make you or whoever gets to see you in your undies very, very happy.
Needless to say, I "racked" up at Chrysi's Bra Boutique!
That is my dramatic interpretation of me scarfing down one of their cannolis. Lemme tell ya - it was a life-altering experience. LIFE-ALTERING, I say! Creamy, crunchy and flavorful, just like a real cannoli should be.
The only thing keeping me from granting Isgro's the coveted five star status are the prices. Ouch. A little steep for my liking, but I won't complain - it just might be the only thing keeping me from going there on a regular basis. And I am not prepared to buy a new wardrobe to support what my body-by-pastry would look like.

I stopped by last week because they had some awfully cute dresses in the window and I had a promotional offer. My problem had always been that the staff wasn't responsive during my previous visits, but this time I was warmly greeted as soon as I walked in. There were two really helpful sales associates who took my piles of clothes into the fitting room (I think I tried on about 12-15 things!) and they made sure to check in often without ever being annoying.
Even though it got really busy while I was there they never forgot about me or anyone else in the fitting rooms. As a result I bought a dress and a cute pair of earrings. I'm glad I gave South Moon Under another chance!

There is a small, still voice that lives inside of me that really likes a lot of the clothing at South Moon Under. It's the voice of the Rittenhouse, perhaps, or maybe a sign of impending MILF-hood. Who knows. But this boutique has some seriously cute stuff, like the Splendid tees I want to live in and the sexy but not trashy dresses that would be perfect for a night out.
SMU has sweet accessories, too, and there's even something for the boys. I just wish their customer service was better - every time I've stepped foot in the store (including a recent event I went to) I feel like I'm getting the stink eye from the girls who work there. Everyone looks so damn serious! I have an overwhelming urge to just walk up to them and tickle them, just to see if they laugh. In the famous words of Santino from Project Runway: "Lighten up, it's just fashion!"
I'll go back, just like I go back to so many places in our fair city. But will I spend any of my hard-earned money? Guess you'll just have to stay tuned to find out...

Luckily, someone else picked up the tab, so that earned it an extra star. I don't think I'll fall for that trick twice, though. Sorry, 13th Street Pizza. It just wasn't meant to be.

Admittedly, I'm not exactly handy with tools or garden equipment or any of the other things one finds in a hardware store, but the friendly fellows who work there never make me feel like an idiot. And for that, I am grateful. I already have enough issues as it is.

The staff is always friendly and the music is good. And they also have one of the cleanest bathrooms in Old City. Priceless.

Live blogging my Cafe Ole experience:
So here I sit, a non-fat latte in my belly and a cup of hot, freshly-made lentil soup on the table before me. My friend is tappity-tapping on her computer to my right thanks to the free wi-fi and I am doing the same at this great seat by the window (even though every time the door opens it feels like an arctic blast).
It is packed. PACKED, I tell you. And noisy, except that no matter what the decibel level seems to be I can still hear what sounds like Israeli Enya meets techno blaring from the speakers. And I'm not really digging that. But people are lined up for the fresh sandwiches, salads and what looks to be fresh iced tea. Yum.
However, from my perch I just noticed that they have a sticker on their front door that says "People Love Us on Yelp." And it's true. There is a lot of love here for these guys.
Not exactly the place I want to find myself working out of every day, but today it's doing the trick. And my belly thanks them for the lentil soup. Finally, I'm eating something healthy.

Every time I walk in here I fall in love. It's as if someone snuck inside my imagination and pulled out all the clothes of my dreams, then put them inside one perfectly decorated store for me to stroll through and shop in. Their dresses are perfection, and I want. I want.

Sugarcube is basically the closet away from home of my BFF, and she always looks amazing. But she is 6 feet tall, model slim and incredibly striking. I am, on the other hand, 5'5, a size 6 and (aside from the whole black/blue hair & multiple tattoo thing), constantly get told that I look just like someone's sister / cousin / ex-girlfriend. That said, both me and my bestest pal share a love of Sugarcube, and the two of us always find things that make us look terrific even though we couldn't be more physically different.
But alas, I am not made of money, nor do I have a sugardaddy who throws dolla dolla bills my way in the pursuit of dressing me like the awesome chick that I am. If that were the case, though, I would shop here every single day of my whole entire life. Elisa (the owner) just gets what brilliant fashion is about, and she's the kind of person who not only makes you feel comfortable from the second you walk into the store (it's a gorgeous, open space, btw) but she has an crazy ability to find what looks great on you but won't go out of style five minutes from now (ahh, the old "timeless fashion" thing is cliche but true).
So even if you're on the budget plan, go. Look around and get ideas. Drool over the artistry and simplicity of the clothing and accessories (but not actually ON the merchandise - that's gross). And then get a second job so you can come back here and shop to your heart's content. Sugarcube is totally worth it.
But if you order the cheese quesidillas, beware of all the onions inside. They will sneak up on you and terrorize your taste buds. They will wage an all-out attack on your unsuspecting palate, rendering you unable to taste anything else for 12 minutes.
Or you could just heed my warning and order them without onions. That would work, too.

The new space is big, bright and beautiful - just like the IndyHall community. Awww, isn't that sweet?
