I should've checked Yelp before I bothered going to the Springfield VW. Let me start my review by saying that I've never experience worse customer service than I did in the 15 minutes I was at this VW in my entire life.
My husband and I went to VW to look at the new Passat and possibly buy one. The salesman who helped us when we walked in was nice enough, at first. My husband, a car enthusiast and well-informed consumer, told him the specific type of Passat he wanted to take a look at. The salesman told us the price. It was about $6-$7,000 more than the price quoted to us on the website.
My husband proceeded to ask why there was such a big difference. At this first (totally normal) price question, the salesman's demeanor changed. He immediately took up an attitude with us. When my husband asked to speak with the manager, the manager could not give us a real explanation as to the price difference either and spoke to us in a very condescending manner. He tried to deflect our question by asking how much we wanted to spend on a Passat, the answer to which must've offended him or something because he got riled up at that point.
As we all walked back to the office to check the website's price and the car's specifications on the site to make sure we were all talking about the same car, the manager got about 6 inches away from my husband's face to "explain" something to him again. My husband stepped away from him and then I said, this is not worth our time -- I wouldn't purchase a car from you anyway, let's get out of here.
We started to leave and my husband turned back and asked for the manager for his business card. At this question, Kevin (his name apparently) refused and told us to leave. He then walked over to the door, opened it and told us to get out. I've never been kicked out of a place where I could easily spend $30,000. Ridiculous. I wouldn't patronize this place even if they paid for the car themselves.
Look at the other reviews of this place -- something's strange here. Get your VW somewhere else.
