Grimms Stonecrab

Grimms is the place to buy your crab, you can't eat there, but it is the place to buy your crab.  You can call and reserve what you want, Grimms' advantage is for those passing through to just grab crabs.  It sits just outside of Everglades City down a dirt road where all the fishing boats dock.  Their prices are good, I think for where they are and the quantities they sell, the cracking should be included.

What I did:

I called in and reserved 4lbs. or medium stone crab.  Picked them up at 3PM, and had a real nice picnic.

BDUBS!!  It's an experience to go on a Sunday, their motto is give everyone what they want.  A ton of beer to choose from a ton of tvs to watch a ton of flavors for your wings...  If you are having a mediocre time at BDUBS you should have a chat with someone that works there they can offer great advice on beer decisions, if you can handle a blazin' wing, whatever you want.  Just ask, on Sunday's it gets a little serious, but during the week I've never had a problem asking for a hockey game to be put on.  They even offer little game pads to play poker with other patrons in the restaurant.  This is the closest establishment to make a Chuckie Cheese for adults and get away with it.

Kork Wine & Cheese

5 Stars because there was no one thing where I could say, "That can be improved."

A beautiful retro watering hole in the heart of Downtown.  Parking on Flagler is free with 24 hour security.  Located beneath the Miami Avenue Metromover Station, this place was like stepping onto the set of a movie, the iron bars on the front door give you a moment to feel the transition.  The Main bar is a saloon style space suitable for an afternoon bite.  Kork offers a wide variety of cheese platters, sandwiches, & sweets.

But the thing about Kork is The Cellar...

You will never hear these directions in any other business in Miami, "Check out the
downstairs."  Built into a underground vault/bomb-shelter, there is no true competition for the best wine bar in town anymore.  Two walls full of choices a nice bar and plenty of room, make your choice and have a seat.  The sommelier comes to your table uncorks your bottle, provides a taste, & serves your party.

Have a great time, because you are going to end up going there.

Creme de la creme of bakeries, the reason Sweetness is so amazing is their attention to details and their love for their customers.  The main attraction are their mini cupcakes, with an ever changing pallet of flavors and themes these delectable little morsles will bring a smile to anyone.  The secret weapon in Sweetnesses' arsenal is their gelato, the level of creaminess is worthy of being served in Florence.  Make sure to check their front cooler for miniature dessert shots and pies to mix up your daily fix.  I love this place and could not recommend it anymore then I already do.

Haven brings a sense of class worthy of the ideology of what Lincoln Road should be offering.  This high class ultra lounge presents it's patrons with a very modern ever changing environment with it's animated walls and it's clever methods of presenting it's food and drinks.  Their drink menu is a full of complex unique drinks that might make you scratch your head but in the end leave you completely satisfied with the floral and subdued fruitiness under the fog.  Their ice cream is something serious, not exactly exotic flavors but creative gourmet delivered through cool.  The quarto leche was a creamy dream on a Caribbean beach.

The serving staff was exceptionally helpful with special requests to make your experience that much delightful.  I went with a groupon deal for 4 drinks and a fried appetizer trio.  Since I went after having dinner they offered to change the appetizer trio to a trio of ice cream.  Making a special offer even more distinctive.  Excellence.

Welcome to the gauntlet of the Miami Food Truck scene, Gypsy Kitchen attacks the erupting movement with a fresh and innovative attitude.  Their menu offers the average proteins as well as an interesting duck confit option on a platter of exotic deliciousness.  Naan bread and pita pockets put their sandwiches on a different level of richness.

I went to their debut, it was their trailer and a friendly bunch of already faithful followers.  For being a solo truck event I was very impressed with how much of a party this truck can deliver.  Very excited to see what the future holds for this team ready to redefine the food truck menu.

A Key West institution of food and culture, the outdoor dining with chickens and roosters running all over the place really amplify the "chill out" mantra of the Key's.  The food here is really great and fresh and sometimes test the limits of yummy.

A must have is their Key Lime Pie made with a remarkably high layer of meringue.

100 Montaditos

This restaurant delivers the eating habits and flavors of Spaniard bar food very eloquently.  It feels very much like an upscale Chillis with a more niche atmosphere.  The sandwiches, or montaditos, come in all flavors of the spectrum, my favorite is the duck patte, and anything with chorizo.  Required sides are olives and the patatas bravas.
The house beer on tap is well priced and exceptionally tasty.
Wednesday is the crazy day when everything on the menu is $1, it's a wild dash for tables.

Ultra Music Festival

5.0 star rating
Update - 3/29/2011
Ultra Music Festival is the biggest party in a town that knows big partys.  The grounds of Bicentennial Park were limited in Ultra's 13th installment due to the land being in development for a new museum.  This made things a bit tighter but, that only meant less walking in between different stages.  The musical acts that showed up did their best and rocked all day & night, it was a shame to hear that some cancelled (Mr. Oizo, Crystal Castles, The Klaxons) but the show went on with a bang.

I am curious to see where the show will be held next year but alas if it were to leave Miami-Dade County it would be a shame and a worldwide disappointment.

We are Ultra.

Ultra was marvelous, for some reason I always hear that it's always better as the festival matures. Getting in was easy, no lines even for food and drinks practically. I think they really raised their service level up from last year. My only problem with Ultra is the way they get you with not allowing any outside food or drink. I took a sealed pack of trail mix that was thrown away before I went in. A single bottle of water was $5, i think that's way too much to charge an army of adults that are going to be in need of hydration. But I did not notice any sound or light problems everything went smoothly even driving forklifts through crowds went well.
If you are at all into electronic music or partying your ass off I think Ultra is a MUST, you can regret it after but you will regret it more if you didn't see the spectrum of people that flock to this monumental music experience.  Acts that I watched, The Presents, Infected Mushroom, Cut//Copy, Boys Noize, Deadmau5, & Carl Cox.

Ultra Music Festival is a two day event where Bicentennial Park in Downtown Miami transforms into a Drum & Bass, techno, house, trance Mecca. The grounds are covered in large open stages and tents, the variety of sound is vast and be aware that it does get quite loud. The festival is for all ages, but I would not recommend allowing your under age children to attend, there is a plentiful atmosphere of controlled substances roaming the grounds, as well as the authorities to keep the crowd under control.
Trouble in Paradise:  water & food is quite over priced, there was one latino vendor that at least gave you good quality food for the price of $14 a plate.  Bookbags and video cameras are not allowed.  But security at the front is quite loose, water bottles on the other hand are prohibited.
Tickets usually go for $130 for 2 days and $90 for a single day. It is definitely something anyone that likes to party to try once, and if you like to party you will be returning next year.

Excellent spot to stop at after a long night of drinking, also good after a long day of soaking in the sun.  Their signature toppings are the best flavors to add anything to.

I had the duck pate sandwich and it was incredible, I would also recommend their smoothies.

Great little French Spot for locals and tourist.
