Nicely decorated & very clean, the new location is a nice spot for lunch or dinner. Lunch specials are $7.95 for an egg roll, soup & an entrée. Dinners don't include the egg roll & soup, but the portions are very large, you wont go away hungry.

If you are out for a day of shopping at Tyrone Mall or staying at Madeira Beach try this restaurant  for lunch or dinner.

Sloppy Pelican

The Sloppy is located right at the mouth of Blind Pass, which separates St. Pete Beach & Treasure Island. The restaurant sits right on the water & has a great  view of the waterway. The seating is outside but covered & well mannered pets on a leash are welcome. Across the water is a small beach where the locals tie up & let the dogs play. There are new docks at the restaurant & the water is deep enough for a fairly large boat to tie up.

The food is decent & the portions are large. They have a little bit of everything on the menu & a full bar. The whole family should be happy here. It is a great little spot to have lunch or dinner.

Very casual seafood house with several simply prepared menu items. There are no suprises here. The menu is a basic offering of dishes that makes dining with the family simple. If you are on vacation with the kids you will like this restaurant. There is something for everyone & the prices are affordable..

Two thumbs up to the Steamer Bucket, which contains Snow Crab legs, shrimp, mussels & clams. There is enough for two people & it comes with two sides so you dont have to share the french fries.

Two thumbs down for the mushy crab cake (broiled) & the tasteless buffalo shrimp. Both appetizers were a dissappointing choice. The service is painfully slow. The waitress chatted with coworkers & patrons at the bar while we waited to order, waited for our meal, waited the cocktail sauce & waited for the bill.

In the big picture I could only recommend this restaurant to those of you who have to accomodate a party with children. I will not be back.

Bern's Steak House

Obviously Berns is already famous & well reviewed, but for those who don't dine their often here are a few sugestions that may make your experience even better.
1. Start your evening with a drive along Bayshore Blvd,  the longest continuous sidewalk in the US.
2. The French onion soup is amazing!  The ceasar salad is made at the table & is very good, but I prefer the house salad with the creamy white balsamic italian.
3. If you like your steak cooked medium to well done ask for a steak that is fresh not aged. It is likely your waiter will give this recomendation anyway. which brings me to:
#4...Listen to your waiter. They know what they are talking about, all of the waiters have worked their way through the kitchen to become a part of the wait staff.
5. Order a dish of the Lobster Mac & Cheese for the table to share. The cheese blend is delicious & the pasta is perfectly cooked. I promise everyone will be impressed.
6. Order a nice bottle of wine, the selection is endless. See #4 if you are not sure what to order...
7. Take time to tour the wine cellar. Bring a camera, Its a great photo opportunity (do as I say, not as I do....). You get a tour of the kitchen too which is also impressive.
8. After the tour visit The Dessert Room. The portions are large. I recommend getting a selection for the table to share. You won't be disappointed!
9. Allow enough time to enjoy the entire experience. Three hours would be a good guesstimate.
10. Enjoy!

The new location is in historic Jungle Prada. The building itself is worth the visit. Built in the 1920's. it has loads of archtechtural eye candy & history.
Arrive before dark, take a walk on the pier & enjoy the sunset over Boca Ciega Bay.  Then sit down for a leisurly dinner. If you're in a hurry this is not the place to book your dinner reservations.  The steaks are very good, as is most of the other food, but the service is slow.
After dinner dust off your dancing shoes & visit Carl's Piano Bar in the back of the restaurant. Carl plays Thursday Friday & Saturday evenings. The dancing crowd is older, but fun.
This is a great choice for an evening if you are visiting the area.
