i've lived in this neighborhood for about 9 years, and this place has consistently the best fast-food style chinese food. they use better ingredients than most, like fresh veggies and healthier oils. the employees are always very nice and if you call in a order, it's ready within 5 minutes to go pick up. there are plenty of other chinese spots on nostrand avenue nearby, but we've tried them all and this is our favorite.

i have been coming here for over 4 years, at least once a month, with a friend i meet for lunch during the work week. the food is consistently good and the service is also wonderful. even when the place is hopping busy you still don't wait around for your check or get ignored, everyone's very friendly. i highly recommend the grilled cheese, it's one of my favorite food splurges there, as well as their ceasar salad, which is big and delicious. also, their french fries are fantastic and i always get them. it's a great fast midtown lunch spot.

i went with a big group of people yesterday for dinner, and everyone thoroughly loved the food. I got the aloo gobi and it was delicious and well cooked. this beats most of the manhattan indian food joints i've visited in the past 9 years, and i will definitely be going back. the wait staff were particularly nice and helpful, and the host was funny and joked around with us and recommended the perfect foods for everyone. we were served quickly and everyone was pleased.

having to see a G.I. doctor is *not* fun. it can be downright scary. after two not very good experiences, Dr. Mohajer was recommended to me. He is very bright and well spoken. he sat with me for quite a while and explained everything to me and answered all of my questions. you can tell he really cares. i highly recommend his office.

I've been here a total of 4 times now. each time, we've had  a great experience. I've also been with a large group, and everyone was excited and happy with their meals. the portions are good and the prices are especially reasonable for the neighborhood. this is a great place for vegetarians and people with dietary restrictions.

Dr. Alpert is actually an Osteopath.
I was at a loss as to how to fix my extreme fatigue and losing battle with an autoimmune disease. she is so smart, a great listener, and has many unique and useful ideas. She is currently treating me and I will go out of my way to continue seeing her because she's made a real difference in how i feel. her office staff are very friendly also.

The Health Nuts

i work right next to the UN and love going here for lunch. Most midtown take out spots and food shops are so expensive, but The Health Nuts is very reasonable. being that i have very strict diet restrictions because of health issues, this place is a like a mecca for me to find the things i can actually *eat*, and at the same time, those things taste *good*. the store has it's strange moments, like when you can't get through any of the aisles because they're stocking the shelves and they're all blocked off, but it's a tiny place, what do you expect? everyone that works there is friendly and very helpful, especially if you need help selecting supplements.

their hot food/soup choices are AMAZING. i highly recommend the edamame and tofu dish they have once a week or so. it's SO packed with protein and delicious, i get it every single week and after 2 years, still haven't gotten sick of it. in fact, sometimes i get double portions so i can share with my boss, who also loves it.
they also have a great body care section, bulk goods (their quinoa is cheaper than anywhere else i've found in NYC!), frozen foods, a juice bar, and a big bunch of snacks i can't get enough of. if it weren't for this place, my macrobiotic lifestyle would be starved for attention during the work week!

Safe Haven Bar & Grill - CLOSED

after our experience with this bartender, i am nostalgic for the last bartender everyone here is raving about. the one we dealt with was NOT nice at all. we left feeling uncomfortable and sorry for the bitter man behind the bar.
we showed up here Saturday night figuring, why not have a few drinks somewhere cool since it's so ridiculously hot right? i sort of wondered why the bar was totally empty. Literally, there were two other people there and it was after 10 pm. But oh well. We ordered some food which was so-so. the mac & cheese was runny and my boyfriend said the wings were gross. but my friend really liked the chips and salsa. after a little while, a few people showed up with  a musician who started playing some really cool acoustic/electronic tunes in the back, so we decided to stay for the long term because he was really good.

the two people there were saying it was a bit loud but they really liked the music. the rest of us agreed it was good.

about 10 minutes into his set, my friends hear the bartender go over and start B*TCHING to him (the musician) about how bad his music was and  he used the term "jerk-*ff" to describe the music. The poor musician was dumbfounded, obviously they'd heard the music and set the show up on that basis, but i guess this particular bartender was too "COOL" to give him a chance. i guess since all he was playing was radiohead the entire time before the live show started, he was thinking this guy would just play radiohead. He had a sourpuss on his face and b*tched through the next two songs until the poor guy gave up playing and left. the funny part is, no one was left in the bar after that, because everyone there stayed to hear the music, and the mean awful bartender scared him off.

i've never heard anyone be so caustic or rude in my entire life. i thought *maybe* when the bartender was snotty with us he was just trying to be funny but failing miserably. only after we heard him talking to the performer did we realize he was just a complete JERK. we were there with someone diabetic and he commented 'why are you here if you're not drinking?". what a d*ck right???

we will never go back there again. who can support a bar that treats musicians like that? it was so uncomfortable and embarrassing to watch this go down. I guess the bartender thinks he's Mr. Music Critic. too bad he's just an over the hill loser who lost a bunch of would-be repeat customers because he can't be nice to save his life.

Dr. Dushkin is a great M.D., he works in a holistic natural medicine sense using homeopathic medications and other natural remedies. i have had a lot of experience with natural physicians and Dr. Dushkin is the most effective one I've seen in the Northeast. I've been seeing him for a few months and it's made a dramatic difference in my energy level, attitude and overall health.

we have visited this restaurant once, but get delivery from there all the time. this is one of my top indian restaurants, and i'm so thankful it's in our neighborhood. the staff are so friendly and the food is consistently delicious and delivered in a timely fashion.
