Peking duck - $24, they gave us the standard plate with skin, mantou, sauce and scallions... as well as all the rest of the roast duck. Sweet! The duck was a little cold and the skin could've been crispier, but flavor was good, not too sweet, just delicious dark meat.
Spicy string beans - Not that spicy, but the skins were blistered and it tastes nice in my mouth.
Whole deep fried fish - I've gotten so good at filleting these! My favorite, but this one was not that fresh (probably not killed when I ordered it) because the bones didn't come right out of the meat. Still yummy though.
Service is not great and these are no lunch special prices. Still, I'd stop by again for duck in the middle of the afternoon.

We ordered:
Saag Paneer - Delicious. There was a slight char on the paneer that gave it an extra chew.
Chicken Tikki Masala - My sister's favorite, I can't really get into white meat (too dry) but the sauce was the perfect blend of tomato and spice.
Chicken Curry - Incredibly good, a little more spicy than the other dishes. Chicken was tender and the bones were mashed up a little, letting you suck out the marrow.
Lamb Kebab - Kind of dry but good flavor.
Mango and Plain lassis - The first was not too sweet, both were perfect for cooling down mouths.
Naan - Fresh, buttery, chewy, soft, fragrant. DELICIOUS.
Everything was served probably around medium spicy, but it builds up when you're stuffing your face.
Prices were mad affordable, for 5 adults I don't think it was much more than $40. You can serve yourself milk tea and it makes me feel like a baby child again.
The best part, however, was probably when I asked this kid coloring a blue cloud at a table if his cloud was raining and he glared at me in response.

Jim Russell Rare Records
Categories: Videos and Video Game Rental, Music & DVD's
Located in the Garden District in an assuming building with blocked up walls, Jim Russell's doesn't look like much. In fact, it kind of looks like crap, even after you walk inside: record sleeves strewn across the crown, 12 inches haphazardly piled, crates and crates of unsorted gems stacked precariously on each other. It's cold inside, the roof is leaking, the Food Network is playing, and Denise, Jim's wife, is smoking a cigarette and talking up different needles with a skinny nervous hipster.
Greatest hits are 10 or 12 bucks, 12 inches are generally 3.50, 45s are less. There are tapes, CDs, and a wall lined with amazing never-opened rarities costing in the three-digits.
Daniel and I stopped by yesterday to fatten our meager collection (I left all my records in California... although of course I remembered to pack the record player). We got Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, the Commodores, the Shirelles, Cash Money Millionaires, Jimi Hendrix, and Billie Holiday... for about $60. Oh, did I mention that for every 2 records you buy, you get a 3rd free?
Well then what're you waiting for??--get your ass moving and pick up some Xmas shit, jazz, R&B, rockn'roll, or whatever else you can pick out from the mess!
We sat at a table and immediately ordered wine and appetizers: the rabbit and duck liver pate and a roast beet salad. My Bellini was great, with the fresh peach really resonating, but Daniel was unsatisfied with his wine (it came in a tumbler like Italian wine... weird).
The pate was the hit of the night! So smooth and rich and buttery, accompanied with Creole mustard, tiny pickles, and 2 fruit relishes on buttery crisp toast. INCREDIBLE. We literally scraped the cute little glass container out. Restaurant August needs to take a tip on pate from Luke because this was seriously superior.
For an entree we shared the moules and frites. Amazing fries, fresh and hot, and a great creamy buttery garlic broth with the mussels (although a few were shriveled and overcooked). At this point we were happily satiated and thus declined dessert... and still, dinner was only $60!
I've come before for the oysters and they are great and ESPECIALLY reasonable for happy hour. Their house microbrewed beers are delicious, although the cochon de lait sandwich I tried before was somewhat dry and bland.
One of my favorite mid-priced spots for a chill delicious dinner. Can't wait to come back.
It is completely volunteer run and thus is only open Mon. 10-2, Wed. 3:30-6, and Sat. 1-6.
I just picked up my bike and I love it. The selection is obviously small, since it's all donated or found bikes that are fixed up by volunteers, but I got an excellently shitty Columbia 3-speed (now single-speed since it's missing shifters and gears, ha) for $50.
One of the raddest things about RUBARB is their Earn-a-bike program for youth. Saturdays are dedicated to the kids, who come to learn how to fix and build their bikes, learning about parts and mechanics, eating snacks, and just hanging out. If you see a kid biking around the 8th or 9th ward, chances are they got it here.
All the volunteer adults that I've met have been really great, extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. This is not a fancy place by any means. They are always in need of volunteers, art supplies, bike supples, tools, etc., so if you've got any extra resources, put them to good use here!
Beer selection wasn't bad but the bartenders were way too rushed and it took forever to get a pint, even sitting at the bar. Decor was cool. I like the crazy chandeliers done up in huge oversized Xmas ornaments for the holidays and the ornate Catholic paintings. Prices were fine but too much compared to the Red Door (although this is Uptown).
I might give it another chance but probably not of my own accord.
One star for not having to pay a toll, though, to get to the West Bank. Another star for.... luck... let's pray these poles can hold me up until they finally finish the widening project.
