I can't help but compare them to Roast down the road. I prefer Gimme 2. Gimme 2 is how a sandwich shop is supposed to be: you can watch the cooks making the sandwich, and they wrap up the heroes rather then put them in a plastic container.
I'm a pretty big fan of Gimme 2. Just opened up, the staff is always cordial and enthusiastic about their food. So far, sandwiches like the hangar steak, pastrami, and roast beef are all very good, and I'm especially fond of their french fries and super rare Bassett's ice cream. The prices are extremely reasonable - sandwiches come in 2 price ranges: $3.75 or $6. I keep finding more things I like about Gimme 2.

I don't usually order from the menu - although today I ordered a carne asada torta, and I was very impressed (heres the description: sandwiches made with refried beans, mayo, lettuce, tomato, avocado, fresh cheese and jalepeno).
I believe there are two people who speak english fluently there. And if that fact doesnt make it legit to you, eat there.
I usually order from what they have in the front. There are generally around 5 dishes, with at least 2 kinds of rice, refried beans or pintos, yuca, and possibly plaintains or other sides. The main dishes change daily, everything seems fresh. I have no idea most of the names of the dishes, or even if there are names.
The burritos are very large and less expensive than Chipotle. Today I had a delicious Columbian style empanada - sent by god! There are always new things popping up - I suggest you try everything .
The first time you go, the ordering process may be tough. You have to persevere though. You may even not like it the first time. Come back though. The food is great quality, changed daily, and won't hurt your money clip at all.
Another thing to mention: They have all the authentic Latin American drinks that you may want. The south american cokes, the tamarind drink, the jarritos, and others.
This is one of the few genuinely authentic places still operating on Long Island. They just opened a Chipotle a few miles away. You choose.

I still love this place. It's pretty reliable. A few women are at the counter, and I usually get vegetarian items like the "rellenos". These are basically stuffed things... like peppers or other vegetables. All the shit I said in my review 2 years ago are still true, except it's not the biggest I've ever seen anymore. Just checking in.
The first empanada de platano I believe I've ever seen. How do they make it? It's a platanos based shell with some creamy goodness inside and sugar coating on top. oooohhhhh mann. That's some wild shit.
Another crazy concoction I've only seen here: Salvadoran Chicken Sandwich or Pan con Pollo. It is one of the greatest sandwiches in history. Order it and the process starts in front of you. It is a hero roll with some sort of mayo on it topped with chicken stew. Then they add cole slaw, a beet, cucumber pieces, yuca, tomato, and a whole egg. THEN they top it off with juice from the chicken stew again. Wow. It even tastes better than it looks with all the juices from the stew and coleslaw and other elements absorbed into the bread. All for $3.50!! Unbelievable.
Huntington Station, my eyes dart around looking for that authentic Latin American food that I know is everywhere. Cardiolo's Pupuseria, is one of the nicer ones I've been to on the Island. It's located in a mini-mall with a clean green sign linked to the rest of the business on the lot. Makes me fear for gentrification.
Fears clear, I'd be surprised if this El Salvadorian foodery caters towards the white man's vision of burritos or chimichungas. There are so many items that are new to me here. Every time I go, I stare at the selections for minutes, always letting at least one person go ahead of me. My stomach growling as my eyes weep.
The counter is probably the largest I've ever seen. The hot foods account for around 10 feet across while 5 feet on both sides are dedicated to latin food accessories such as the mango slices I've been missing since Red Hook of yesteryear.
There is much more in Huntington Station. This is just the tip.

This nation was founded on fast food. I'm relegated to local fast food, which is fine, but our grandfathers are dead to me.
That being said, the staff is always really nice here.
