Oh wait, I already said that! But seriously- the 3D city scape walls make me smile while I wait for my HUGER than huge paper masala dosa! The house ice tea is the perfect complement for my palate (sweet & salty is my way to be!), and the samosas are cute as a button.
Totally beyond reasonable prices, and great to share lots with a friend!

After a cold day of shooting outside, we headed in for the richest vegan hot chocolate with sweet and sarah marshmallow pieces. It was like art. in a cup. that makes you believe in singing snowmen. Do you believe?
I do.
I've been craving it lots lately!! (not only the vegan pizza, but the macaroni and teese bowls, I need you!) so it's a bummer if this is the case.
Would love an update when you're back up and running. miss you! :) :)

DEEP DISH VEGAN PIZZA. say it with me- DEEP DISH VEGAN PIZZA. This stuff calls my name... and is even better the morning after.
They have an amazing crust with chunky tomato sauce plus Teese or Daiya Vegan Cheese and Upton's Sausage, Pepperoni, or Chorizo (yes, I'm vegan food brand name dropping)! All in a super cozy laid back dive bar/pizzeria atmosphere (complete with Simpsons on the tube), crazy nice waitress/owner, and not too far from home. I think we have a winner.
PLUS a tip from the owner-
If you're getting Daiya cheese the stuffed is worth it, but if you're doing the Teese- deep dish is what you'll want (and it's cheaper too.)
And shh! Word is, more vegan options coming soon!

Karyn's on Green

So Karyn's Cooked had been in my top 5 chicago restaurants for a while. When I heard Karyn's was opening a new location my curiosity peaked. What will the theme be? price point? genre? ambiance?
I kept thinking- what Chicago needs... is a gorgeous dressy vegan restaurant (like Green Zebra but actually vegan/vegetarian, and with more room to eat without rubbing elbows with your neighbors), one for special events, that makes you feel like monogrammed robes are waiting for you back home, strawberries magically appear in champagne glasses by your bed, and that dreams really do come true.
so I held my breath. we decided to go on whim the first saturday after opening. and voila! This is karyn's and more. the salmon delicious. dessert sensational. and ambiance- ah-ma-zing. thank you, karyn's! It's strawberries, monograms, and dreams coming true & so much more.

Our server was the gosh darn nicest but not in a- stop talking to us I'm here to spend time with my date not with you- way. In a- wow, he's so genuinely kind and thoughtful and gives us space too- way. Predicted our every move, super laid back, and really fun too. Fantastic.
The sweet potato tempura rolls (our always favorite) is superb here. The atmosphere is delightful.
A+. And you heard it from a girl who eats Japanese once a week.

Situated in Korea Town, which for y'all who don't know- is really NOT that far from downtown or the northern neighborhoods (10-15 minutes from Logan Square via cab/car, right next to Little India) this is the real deal... private rooms with large booths & your own massive books of English, Korean, and Asian songs to sing to your hearts content!
This could be one of the most fun group outings available in Chicago!
But before you book that room- AN IMPORTANT TIP!
You'll probably have a large group with you, have drinks flowing into the room, and you'll probably not be in the clearest of mathematical talents at the end of the night, so I suggest you'll want to determine the splitting of the check methodology PRE- intoxicated singing. I recommend everyone splits the room bill (whether they sing or watch), and then have everyone count what they drink and pay their own.
