Since the gym moved across the street to be adjacent to the Yoga studio, it is kind of a drag to work out at.

Previously the gym was inside a house-like building across the street. The ambiance was kind of nice, the experience intimate. Since they moved right across the street the whole place smells of feet and reminds me of a Bally's. Everything is jammed in nice and close and the big windows look right out onto Colfax.

And, awesomely, Colfax gets to look right back in. Blegh.

But, seriously, what is that smell? Can't do much of anything with a headache.

There is also a lack of locker room. There's an area in the back (in full sight of the front door) with cubbies and a few lockers and adjoining bathrooms. Sure, the bathrooms have showers but there's no room to change!

Working out here is like working out in someone's house. Probably because it most likely used to be someone's house.  This location is very different from working out in the big box athletic chains.  This means there is only one of pretty much everything.  However, since it is rarely busy here, I never have to stand next to someone who can show me how much more they can lift than me.

The only drawback is the men's locker room.  It's a little on the small side, so a lot of guys get the idea that it was built for 1 person.  As a result, I've been locked out and left waiting to change into my gear.

Took me about 10 minutes to go through the entire men's section. While there, I didn't find a single piece of anything I would have handed over money for, even at their sweat-shop-low prices.

Every article of clothing that was black had at least three-dogs worth of hair and lint clung to it. Both shirts I pulled of the rack had holes in them. And not the "oh, it's trendy to have holes in clothing" kind of holes, but the "yeah, we really didn't care enough to finish the garment" kind of holes.

What else was there to do but stand around and wait for the missus to finish her browsing? While waiting, I watched a gentleman slip on the staircase and toss his cup of coffee everywhere. He was fine, more embarrassed than anything. The large, ice-looking staircase was rather slippery (even when dry) and the gentleman waited a good fifteen minutes for a custodian to come around, leaving dozens of other customers to negotiate the coffee-covered staircase.

And when the custodian did arrive, he used two entire rolls of paper towels to clean up the mess.

In short, I suppose, H&M is the epitome of waste.

ROCK'n & JAM'n 1

Frankly, I'm not sure why I ever stopped climbing. My last experience with rock walls was at the UNC student athletic center in Greeley, and that was a pretty solid place to climb if memory serves right. Before that? Paradise Rock Gym (which is closed).

Then I graduated and, like, just didn't climb for a few years. And so the resolution began, in 2012 - do more climbing. Which is how I came to be at Rock'n & Jam'n.

This place is big and has a lot of variety. Whether you are just beginning or have grown bored of climbing El Cap, there's something here that will challenge you. And the routes are changed up pretty frequently, so there's not a lot of chance you'll get bored.

Pretty good collection of bouldering routes as well. Upstairs you'll find a full gym with weights, treadmills, etc. Some nights they offer additional classes (free, sometimes a small fee).

Full equipment rental available too.

Some nights it gets busy. Like, super busy. Every route taken up and people standing around waiting kind of busy. So, plan for that.

Ignite is still going through its growing pains. I get that. We wandered down to check it out about a week after it opened. A few drinks priced about where any other place in the area would price them (4-8 bucks, cocktails on the higher end).

Ordered an appetizer that was essentially fried portabella mushrooms. Tasty, but meager. The $6 paid resulted in a small handful of these "fries." If  you're going to make something tasty, at least make it satisfying as well.

Overall, Ignite feels like any other place in the neighborhood. Trendy decor, middle-of-the-road menu. Maybe that will change when the rooftop deck opens for the season? We'll see.

This is definitely the Colfax of Office Depots.

An interior that reminds one of a Saw movie. Staff that is generally inattentive and unhelpful. A parking lot inhabited by Denver's homeless and strung out.

Avoid.

I'm pretty sure I liked this place better when I was still eating meat. Sure, that goes for a lot of places. But the flavor of their blue-cheese stuffed burger pretty much haunts my memory.

That's my fault, not LoHi's. As a recent vegetarian there are still loads of things to pick from .

If you're thinking "hey, this would be a good place for brunch!" You're right! It is. But, for the love of logic, call ahead. Make a reservation. LoHi is a relatively small space that fills up quick. If they happen to have the Bronco game on, some folks will sit around for hours.

CLOSED! Apparently. We wound up going there for the first time on the second-to-last-night they were open before they sold.

So, I'm sure this review will do a hot lot of good.

Tasty. But I'm always left wanting more. They offer up everything on their menu "sushi style" (so you have to order with a pencil)and each street taco is 2-3 bucks. After eating four, I could have easily eaten another 10.

Amazing beer, locally made. What's not to love.

Now, I get that this is a tap-room and not a "bar." But I would happily award the last star if service was a little more swift. Each time I've been here every seat had a butt in it (about 40-50 in total) and there was but one lonely bartender pouring, taking orders, and tending to the tables.

You've clearly got the business, why not add the staff!  It's frustrating to stand at the bar to order for 10 minutes (yes, literally, 10) before someone notices.

Or, maybe I should grow boobs? I hear that always helps.

Delicious, reasonably priced, in the middle of everything.

Why, oh why, did we opt to move outside of their delivery radius?
