Synergy Spa

Shamim & her crew are very efficient when it comes to threading.
I got a full facial threading and was in & out in 20 min with no appointment. The lady was quick, thorough, my eyebrows are finally neatly shaped, and my skin is beaming. The price is right too - $25 for full facial threading & $7 for eyebrows.
Verdict: Threading is the new waxing. Shamim makes it look easy. Come when you need to look good in under 30min!

Coquette French Brasserie
Category: French
Coquette is a cute French inspired restaurant although the food wasn't quite French enough. It tasted like southern food trying to be French which was a bit weird. I had the croque madame which was just ok. Nothing interesting going on with the cheese and ham or bread or even the egg on top. The wine was blah and waaaay too tanny.
The desert was fantastic though. I highly recommend the clafoutis.
Verdict: Expensive for mediocre "French" food. Come only for the desert. For actual French food that's worth the price, go to Saint Jacques.
For a restaurant that's blown up all over the foodie world, my experience of the food here was below standard.
I had the shredded pork with collard greens and black eyed peas. Everything was ok, certainly not amazing and definitely nothing to write home about. I found the bbq to be bland and lacking in smoky flavor which was an absolute shock. I had a taste of the fried chicken and I've had better at Bojangles to be honest.
I will say that the sweet potato fries were delish.
Verdict: Forget the Pit's hype and go to Cooper's or even the Lowe's Foods on Capital Blvd. for real NC bbq.

Humble Pie
Categories: Tapas Bars, American (New), Lounges
Humble Pie is a very, very good restaurant. The outdoor patio (minus all the annoying flies) was very relaxing and nicely set up. There is a "scene" here but it's nothing to really worry about.
I had the tertiff cheese with a red grape reduction and fried lavosh. This was seriously one of the best things I've ever eaten. EVER. The portion size was perfect, and I savored every bite with my malbec.
The malbec, the least expensive wine on the menu, was one of the yummiest wines I've sipped in a long time. It had hints of cotton candy (weird & awesome at the same time) and cherries. My friend said that the shrimp & grits was delicious as well.
Oh Humble Pie! How I love thee. But -1 star because the desert was definitely not up to par. Had the chocolate cake and it was dry and not sweet enough.
The service was standard and I had no problems with the host or waitress.
The verdict: Come here for the small plates, wine, and scene. Skip desert.
This place is New Raleigh at its best.
I had been looking forward to trying out this restaurant ever since I saw a huge crowd outside for happy hr while doing some shopping @ Gena Chandler. I went with a friend and we sat outside. While the service was excellent, the food was beyond blah. We shared a meat and cheese plate which was ok save for the flies that kept coming around (can't be helped, I know).
But the entrees were really disappointing. I ordered the short rib panini and it was simply not good. The meat was tender but tasteless, lacking any sort of spice. The pasta salad that came with it was bland bland. My friend ordered the pizzette and said it was fine but only ate half of it before giving it back to the waiter.
All in all, I think this place is overhyped for its food. I may go back for happy hr but there are other places (Busy Bee, Raleigh Times, the Oxford) that I'd recommend.

Hereghty Heavenly Delicious
Categories: Desserts, Coffee & Tea, Breakfast & Brunch
This is a fantastic place to unwind after work or grab a late night desert on the weekends - Fri. & Sat. open til 11pm although the kitchen closes an hr earlier.
It's a joy to go to this gym because it's so comfortable but also designed so that you actually workout. There are ample spaces to do your own workout from the outside green to the group x rooms if no one's in there.
At $49/month, you definitely get all the luxury you pay for. I highly recommend. And for those that care, there's a kid daycare open in the evenings.
I ordered the chicken w/ rice noodles Mon.special for takeout. It was ok but had too much basil and not enough lime in it. Not sure if this restaurant provides typical Thai condiments for those with more discerning taste.
Service is excellent though. I'll have to try this one again before giving it more stars.

I have never had a good massage before. This one hit it out of the park. Bridgette did exactly as I asked, really loosening up my tight muscles with a tremendous amt of pressure as a deep tissue massage should. 2 days later, I feel incredible and my muscles are limber as if I've done hrs of yoga.
They even followed up to make sure I was happy with the service, which was thoughtful of them.
-1 star because the add on exfoliation treatment was something I could have done at home.
Verdict: I urge you to come to this spa. Worth every dollar.
