For those that don't know, I left Yelp three months ago.
Not the "I didn't sign in for three months" kind of leaving, but the deleted account, question-mark orange head for an avatar, click on my profile and get the "This user requested their account be removed" kind of gone.
*poof!*
I was gone.
Now obviously, that didn't last very long as I'm writing this review today. But, as I've figured out in the past three months that Yelp is a part of me (as glorious or pathetic as that may be), I'm going to use this review - this review on Yelp itself - to document the pre- and post- Yelp hiatus reviews. (Not that it really makes a difference, but hey! I like being dramatic and Yelp embraces drama, if you know what I'm talking about.)
Why did I leave Yelp? That's a question I'd rather not address. For those that know me, who still kept in touch during my months in limbo, you know why I left - there's no need to spread that news around any more.
Why am I back? I think that's an even more important question.
Yes, I was annoyed at not being able to sort reviews by friends or by total votes.
Yes, I missed not having my beloved 200+ bookmark list at my disposal.
Yes, I was frustrated because I couldn't respond to Talk Thread topics or act as thread police when there were duplicate thread topics floating around.
But what's the real reason I came back?
Yelp = Real people.
What, did you think I wanted to spend all my disposable income on a 15-course meal? Did you think I wanted to see my gut get bigger and bigger as each month goes by? Nope - as much as spending craploads of money on food and complaining about weight may appeal to some of you, I have to say the yelpers, the real people who I've met time and time again, are what keeps me coming back to this site.
(...Okay, I'm not gonna lie, I have nothing to end this review with. I guess I'll just have to end this review all stupid-like...)
Yelpers - 5 stars.
DONE.

Today was a cereal kind of day at Scoops.
Maple white chocolate with Fruit Loops.
Toasted rice with Rice Krispies.
I was angry that they ran out of caramel toasted corn with Corn Pops - I would have been all over that like...well...like I am over Scoops normally?
Considering how many times I've been to Scoops, I'm starting to forget what flavors I've tried. So now, I will update each and every time I go to Scoops to chronicle my flavor adventures here.
Today, I also learned a very valuable lesson - don't order two scoops (i.e. four balls) at once. It's too much ice cream for one person...or maybe just too much ice cream for me. I'm full, happy and disgusted with myself, all at the same time.
Flavors for today:
- Argan oil = Wikipedia says that argan oil has a "distinctive, nutty flavor"...I agree.
- Pistachio and sour cream = I loved it, but then again, I always love pistachio flavored ice creams. The sour cream added a richness/smoothness to the ice cream.
- Butternut squash = Tastes like pumpkin pie filling, but with less spice.
- Peanut butter and ginger = Too much ginger for me. It was also my fourth scoop of the day (I'm so full!) so I left it more or less untouched.
**SEE PICTURES POSTED**
NOW I GET IT.
I get all the reviews. I get the Scoops-mania. I get it all.
Scoops deserves the hype.
Why is it so far away? Why didn't I know about this before?
SCOOPS, I LOVE YOU.

As you may already know, I work for The Man. Not just any man, but THE Man.
The Man is mean. He makes me work late from December to April and won't let me leave my desk. Right now, I'm lucky - I get a window next to my desk! But most of the time, I never get to see the sun...
But I really can't complain too much because at least The Man feeds me. And not always from that random place down the street, he feeds me real food! From almost whatever restaurant I want! I just go on http://LABite.com and order food and an hour later (after my stomach has already half-eaten itself in anticipation), food is delivered to my desk! (And then I work some more...)
Honestly, I have no idea how much it costs to order from http://LABite.com. The other reviews say it's expensive or that there's a minimum order but I don't care - The Man pays for it and I get food.
Now back to work I go...

If the portions here were as large as the bowls in Daikokuya (http://www.yelp.c... )...Man, we'd have a problem. I might have to drive out here instead of Little Tokyo and I just can't afford the gas for that!
After seeing the UYE posted for this place and reading about it on rameniac, it boggles my mind that I didn't try Chabuya before. I mean, I went to the Lollicup next door all the time yet never step foot in here! What was I missing all this time? I was missing out on good ramen.
Damn good ramen.
Too bad the bowls are so damn small.
I ordered the classic with pork chashu with miso and have the following comments/statements:
- The broth is as meaty as Daikokuya's, and is fantastic if you add the chili pepper to it. My friend says her's was bland and flavorless so I'm thinking the miso added the extra dimension. Either way, I polished off my broth like that *snaps fingers*
- I like soft noodles and the noodles here are soft. Some would say they're too soft but I think they're perfect just the way they are.
- The pork is not as tender as the one at Daikokuya, which makes me sad. I've been spoiled by tender, melt in your mouth pork that when I tried the tough pork here, I was a bit disappointed (but of course, I still ate it).
- The decor here is very typical LA - the ambiance is really really snazzy for a ramen house, but considering it's located on the Westside, I guess it's understandable.
I don't know about wait times or parking here as I arrived around opening hours for lunch, but from the food itself, I'm definitely satisfied.
Yum yum yum.
"I want to go to there."
