The San Mateo Whole Foods sells this now! It's in the hand lotion section near the bottom shelf :)

    Holy Grail status. SERIOUSLY.

I've been trying to switch out Neutrogena Norwegian Formula hand cream for something more natural and without parabens.

This winter my hands were super dry and the area around my thumb was cracking and peeling. I tried lots of hand creams at Whole Foods and my criteria was that 1) it didn't have a strong scent and 2) it wasn't greasy. I liked Earthscience's Purfection Hand Cream, but it was still a little too greasy for me.

A friend recommended Awakening Mineral Skincare's Mineral Moisture Hands Therapy (she's a teacher, loves to garden and washes her hands constantly) and gave me a tube.

As soon as I rubbed it into my hands, it soaked in quickly and my hands felt soft and moisturized afterwards. I put some extra cream on my thumb and the redness went away. I liked that it wasn't tested on animals and paraben free. It contains essences and extract of ginger, cinnamon and myrrh. The scent was slighly cinnamon-y but that didn't bother me.

I called customer service to ask a question and they were more than patient with my questions and feedback. It's obvious that Customer Service is important to them and it shows.

I haven't seen this in stores in my area so I ordered some online: http://www.awaken...

It's not as cheap as drugstore hand creams but for my super dry hands it's worth every penny. You only use a pearl sized drop and it lasts through a couple washings.

I highly recommed Awakening Mineral Skincare's Hands cream for anyone suffering from dry skin this dry winter.

I've heard a lot about Korean food trucks but have never personally tried one....until KoJa was at Mobile Gourmet Food Trucks in San Carlos.  I'm so glad I suggested Aaron I. go with me to try this food truck because this is at the top of my food truck list! We odered the combo ($12.50):

1. Korean BBQ Beef KoJa - Korean BBQ Beef (Bulgogi) with sautéed onions, Japanese seasoned romaine lettuce, drizzled with our signature sauce and served in toasted hand-made rice buns

2. Kamikaze Fries - Crisscut Fries topped with Korean BBQ Beef, kimchi, green onions and drizzled with our signature sauce and Japanese mayo

The BBQ beef was tender and flavorful, LOVE the signature sauce.  I expected the toasted hand-made rice buns to be more like Yaki Onigiri (crunchy) but with the line at least 30 people deep it would probably be hard to make.

My favorite dish was the Kamikaze Fries, definitely getting that again, and I'm going to make space for the mochimisu....that looked soooo good. I'm going to stalk them on the Peninsula, whether they're at EA or Mobile Gourmet Food Trucks!

I've been looking for some local San Mateo county honey, found some at Whole Foods but didn't want a huge bottle without trying it first so I found BeezSoap which is located in Redwood City.  I ordered a small bottle of lavender and their local raw honey and wow...they were delicious!

Package came in a timely matter and they even included some heavenly smelling soaps!!!! I will definitely order from them again.

Gelatogelatogelatogelato!

Can you tell I love gelato?!!!

Cafe Sapore doe not only have gelato, this cute cafe has great panini as well. The decor inside is warm and has an extensive collection of wine in the front (hence the wine bar at night).

I went to lunch here and ordered the Parma Proscuitto Panini (proscuitto, tomato, mozzarella and pesto) and butternut squash soup. The panini came out piping hot with melted cheese and crispy bread; butternut squash soup was the way I liked it - not *too* creamy but still retained the butternut squash flavor.

After lunch we had to try the gelato and the ower kindly suggested pistachio and hazelnut. I'm a hazelnut fan so of course I had to get that and chocolate. The hazelnut didn't taste cloying and the chocolate tasted like real chocolate and non chalky. 2 flavors of gelato for $3. Not bad at all!

I really liked Cafe Sapore - I will definitely be back as it's an alternative to the usual suspects on Burlingame Ave, plus the parking around there is easier and the meters are longer than an hour which is great because you can go walk off the calories shopping on Burlingame Ave.

I likey!

Went to Mobile Gourmet on an overcast and chilly day. I had to have my weekly sushi fix so went straight to We Sushi's truck and ordered Crispy Lobster Crunch roll (Lobster salad, Cucumber, and Avocado in Lightly Fried Soy Wrap) and Jacinda C's recommendation of their butterfish nigiri.

Wow. I loved both....the lobster crunch had big chunks of lobster and really good flavor but I loved the butterfish more. The fish was fresh and literally melted in my mouth. The rice was a teeny bit soft but that didn't bother me since it didn't break up when I picked it up with chopsticks.

I will get the chirashi next time - if their fish is as fresh as their butterfish, that's a double thumbs up from me.

St Charles Church

I came here on Christmas Eve for family mass at 4pm.  Apparently it's one of the biggest Catholic churches in the Peninsula as evidenced by the impossible parking situation before mass. I  thought showing up 15 minutes beforehand would at least get me a seat in the back pew but it was, as expected packed and it was standing room only at the back wall.

Father Dave was understanding that being a family mass, there would be lots of families with crying babies and toddlers running around. The mass was beautiful and touching and for me, especially meaningful.

Definitely a great church for all Catholics, non Catholics and lapsed Catholics such as myself.

CUN took over the other half of what was left of Gator's. The first time I had CUN was in front of the Gazillion office in San Mateo. Although I enjoyed my deconstructed samosa, I preferred eating it in a restaurant setting as opposed to on the curb or in my car.

Along came the B&M! Yay! Since I'm a big chicken when it comes to spicy food, I end up ordering the same thing: Thali with chicken tikka masala and Saag Tofu. I also get a rose mango lassi.  Thali definitely has a kick to it and the mango lassi helps to cool off my burning mouth lol.

The last time I was there my eyes started to water and I was wondering if I was allergic to something but I think they were either cutting peppers or cooking them because the whole restaurant cleared out  - everyone's eyes were watering! I guess the hood fan wasn't working?

Even though I cried, it's not going to stop me from getting my CUN fix.

I've been using Swanson's products for many years. In my ginormous grandma purse I carry parsley pills http://www.swansonvita...

They're great for natural breath fresheners, especially  important when eating Italian or Korean food. Pop one before AND after a meal and in a couple hours you're no  longer humming or sweating garlic from your pores.

I also like their 5mg Biotin pills, great for hair and nails http://www.swansonvita...  My hair and nails grow really fast! (great for growing hair out, not so great for mani/pedis).

Shipping is always prompt and their prices are very affordable. I am a longlife fan.

In my quest to find more natural products that aren't tested on animals or contain parabens, I was referred to Beauty 360 (almost hidden next to CVS and a step up from Ulta) - they carry the 100% Pure line with is vegan, without petrochemicals, chemical preservatives or any other toxins. YAY!

I was looking for the 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Blackberry mascara, which my friend used and she had me smell hers. Oh boy that mascara smelled good, almost edible good!

They didn't have any available but Liz, the really helpful and friendly SA told me that they were reformulating it and will get some more sometime in January. She even told me that she could get my name and number and call me when it comes in.  Liz was very knowledgable about the products and ingredients which was surprising to me, actually. I'm on a lot of makeup and skincare boards and feel that a lot of SAs lack the knowledge that Liz has.

I had no idea that this store was here in Foster City, and from my experience with Liz I will be a repeat customer.

JenniStylez Hair Design

Yes, my dirty secret is that I cut my hair once or twice a year.. "What?!" you say? "How can that be?!!!" Unfortunately I am one of those Asians with wavy hair and every day I beat my hair into submission through hair drying and ironing so I can have straight hair. As a result, I get split ends.

With that in mind, I decided to use my Groupon for Jenni's services. Sola Salon houses stylists with individual salon space - a very cool concept and Jenni's studio in right when you walk in the door. I like this because you don't have all the distractions that a salon has with the loud hairdryers, gossip, and people walking all over the place that a salon has.

I sat down with Jenni and explained that I needed to chop off a couple inches of my hair. She suggested layers but since my frizzy hair doesn't respond well to layers I told her I'd like to keep it simple. She wasn't pushy and listened to my request.

She proceeded to cut my hair and after she blow dried it, it looked really good! I liked that she didn't talk nonstop during the cut - she respected that if you needed a few moments to yourself, she didn't blather away about her life, bf, family, etc.

I really love my haircut and I am happy to say I've found my new stylist! I will be back!
