UPDATE: I just had the shirred egg in tomato confit with feta, garbanzo beans and harissa. This is AWESOME!

The doors for 144 King Art Cafe open tomorrow but I'm already salivating after spending an hour in there inquiring about the space for a party rental. Formerly of Frisson, chef Michelle Mathews is launching her new endeavor in a gallery space directly across from AT&T park. Mathews will be offering a more thoughtful organic menu in sharp juxtaposition to the heavy sports bar fare of Pedros and Petes. With a 20lb turkey fresh out of the oven, a roast simmering in the pot and a 30lb pork belly slated for tomorrow's opening, I'm already excited for her lunches.

Down with Safeway sushi and frozen food patties! Up with slow cooked deliciousness!

This place is decent and affordable given the other Asian food selections near AT&T park. It's slightly better for curry dishes than the Ozone Thai, but the soups at Ozone are much better. This is a safe bet if you've got a business lunch since there's a decent selection.

I know everyone on Yelp has their issues with Mrs. Dewson's attitude, but after speaking with her son Lance, it's obvious that Mrs. Dewson isn't a horrible person, she's just going through some age-related memory loss and irritability as a result of being a bit disoriented. The kids are now helping out and you'll find that the service is now quite pleasant. These guys have done a great job in offering hats to Halle Berry, Obama's inauguration attendees and the royal wedding.

I just threw a small blogger's summit at SFSU Westfield and it was great. The venue is perfect for bloggers, the wireless was really good and we didn't have to worry about the restrictions that a hotel might place on us. The rooms are barebones classrooms but I prefer that to a cheesy ballroom. Adam and Dania are really great facility managers and keep everything running smoothly. As well, although you have to use preferrred vendors, they have a huge selection. We ordered from Buckhorn Grill, Out the Door and Bristol Farms.

We recently threw a mixer here for 200 people and it was invite-only and open bar. The space was fantastic, the drinks were made with care, Melissa and Michelle were super helpful and the whole thing went off without a hitch. Firstly, when these guys quote you they're right on the money and stick to their word. Secondly, they're extremely attentive, they set up a beautiful space and they totally understand the plight of the event planner. I'd definitely throw another party here.

Jen did an amazing job with my husband. He's the kind of man who puts on an outfit regardless of how heinous or beautiful he looks in it and turns to me for advice like a deer caught in headlights. We did one hour of consultation/measurement and a week later she had a room full of 20 suits ready for him to try on. The complete process of dressing him for our wedding took about 3 hours tops and we bought not one suit, but two. It was a great experience and she even helped us get 30% off at Bloomingdales.

Just came here with a big group and loved the roasted tamarind sweet crab. The spicy crab and drunken crab are ok, but the tamarind is fantastic, messy and really delicious. I'm more partial to the deep fried spicy crab variety at PPQ Dungeness but for those that don't like the fried style, this is a great place to go.

Order the beef combo soup with flat rice noodles and disgust your vegan friends. Every cow in the herd must be in this delicious soup. It's a cross between a Pho and a Chinese niu ro mien with 3 kinds of meat - flank, steak and meatballs and mystery meat sprinkles. Oh and I guess there's also cilantro, morning glory and onions in there. Anyways, it's pretty freaking awesome. Forget the kabocha curry and all that regular thai-ish fare. Besides, where else are you gonna go? Sliders? Ha.

I've walked by this place so many times and I've never been interested. I'd given up on J-town sushi and never knew this place served anything else. To my surprise I've now found a new favorite winter dish. The salmon and salmon roe zousui (japanese porridge) is really comforting and the broth is delicious. It's a combination of big salmon pieces, roe, rice, egg, green onions and dashi stock baked in a claypot. I also ordered a free side of ume boshi (pickled plums). Don't be fooled by the choice of ochazuke. While it's probably good, choose the zousui. It's unlikely that anything could be better. Eat your heart out East Village.
