I did grow up in Korea and my mom's an excellent cook, so I think I can recognize proper Korean flavors and most of dishes. :)
Also, I often do have a hard time finding places that would make the dishes spicy enough for me, but this place does do well on that as well.
Their stews & soups are very good, and they actually have one item that you can easily get in most Korean restaurants in L.A. but not in SF, it's called Chadol Baegi, which is thinly sliced grilled beef (not marinated) that you grill at the table served with thin rice cake sheets and pickled turnip. You make a little "burrito" out of these items, it's fun to eat and delicious...
If you're looking for a replacement for one of those BBQ places such as Brother's, this isn't the place for it, this place great for more extensive authentic menu....

Friendly, creative bartenders put out some tasty drinks that are created from high end liquors and many of them are even quite unique. My friend and I went on a Wednesday night to get one quick drink here and ended up staying for three hours and trying out 4 different drinks each! They were all very smooth and yummy. :)
I loved the white sangria they had (with cucumbers, which works really well), and my favorite drink off the menu was Boca de Rio, but they have a ton of drinks they can make that's not on the menu, so I'd suggest try being adventurous. :)
I do live right around the corner from this place, but I'd still come here if they were 30 miles away... (I may only be able to come here once a week if they're further away than that :P)
Also, I think it's a great place to bring a date, it definitely has a romantic and somewhat majestic atmosphere...really love the decor...and their tapas were pretty good too, I liked their salmon tartare a lot.

So, I've been to this place at least 4 times or so, their small plates are pretty tasty, and the atmosphere is great, however, their wine flights...not so tasty.
I have met up with different groups of friends, wine experts and not-so-expert wine drinkers, and all of us agreed that their wine flights just don't really work that well. Both reds and whites...
I would much rather go to Hotel Biron, which is located right on the other side...

This place is very casual and it's all vegetarian, not as fancy as DOSA, but their dosas and Uthappams are super yummy and very reasonably priced. The portions are pretty large as well.
Their paper thin large dosas are pretty neat to look at as they're about 2 & 1/2 feet long! I have not ordered one yet, but I think I will try one next time.

I believe they call their house bellini "Belota", and what's so unique about it is that it's got the licor 43 and fresh strawberries muddled in it. It's not that sweet either, so you can keep drinking one after another (which I have!).
Me and my friend hung out at their lounge section before sitting down to have our dinner, and I'd have to say that it's a nice comfy lounge and the cocktails are definitely interesting and yummy.
I do also really like their food. I know that it's pretty pricey for Indian food, but the place is pretty darn classy, great service, and the portions are actually very large!
Their butter chicken sauce is more complex than most I've had, and I think it is definitely one of the best items on the menu. However, they do have some interesting items that you don't normally see in typical Indian restaurants.

What a cute little place with unique decor and some excellent small plates of food, desserts and wine! The wine list was short, but it was a very decent one.
I started my meal out with some champagne and baked brie (came with some tomato based sauce, very good), then I had the seared scallops. They were both delicious!
I would definitely be coming back to try out rest of their menu...

It's dark, it's young, it's hip, and down to earth, I think this place is great for people in their 20's & 30's that enjoy hanging out at wine bars rather than dive bars.
They also have cheeses and fresh fruits and nuts, which goes oh so well with wines they offer.
The only thing is that since the walls, floor, the ceiling and everything is brick/concrete, it can get pretty loud in there.
I live in Union Square/Financial District area, so I don't generally hang out in Lower Haight, but I was surprised to find such a nice place with reasonably priced wines and mouth watering food. They even had a pizza that my VEGAN friend could eat!
I would definitely have to go back there and try out their meats and cheeses as well as digging deeper into their Italian wines....

They do take their customers' feedbacks quite seriously, which is really cool. They did make some changes to the dish and now it's much easier to eat (bite size)! :)

Great selection of wines of all price range and a comfortable, sassy lounge with some yummy food and desserts...
A new concept for the area and a quite a little neighborhood gem.
I do admit, I do know the owner, however, I'm going to write this review as a customer, not as a friend. :)
First off, the little wine lounge upstairs:
It has mixture of comfortable cushy sofa seating that can seat a few sets of groups as well as some soft individual/couple seats. The decor is very tasteful and modern, but most importantly, it is comfortable.
My girl friend and I decided to sample some small dishes (tapas style) that they had with the wine pairing recommended.
Overall, the wine pairings were excellent, the dishes were very good, but some needed improvement.
Our favorite was the artisan cheese plate. There were four different kinds of cheese that came with four different wine pairings for each cheese. We both thought the wines went very very well with the cheeses. The only thing we wished that they included were some fruit slices or fruit chutney/honey in the artisan plate. But even without it, I would highly recommend it.
My other two favorites were the seared ahi tuna pocket and the tamale. Tamale was actually pretty spicy, but really yummy, I'm usually not even a fan of tamales.
Then lastly, the desserts...
Oh the chocolate, it wasn't too sweet and the texture was just right, excellent chocolate cake. Their signature dessert, which is the honey lavender ice cream particularly went well with the late harvest viognier, which tastes somewhat like icewine.
The only thing on the menu that I didn't care too much for was the hoisin beef. It's supposed to be a finger food, but without anything wrapped around the beef, you have to actually touch the meat...it's not something I'd like to do in a wine lounge. I do love eating with hands...but perhaps when I'm at an Ethiopian restaurant. It just wasn't easy to eat, especially for a finger food. It's low-carb though! Perhaps if they made it into something you can eat with a knife & fork, or if it was actually one bite size, it might work better.
As for the retail, I really like their selection of the wines, and especially in the affordable section! They have a decent selection of under $10 range wines as well...People thought this was:

Date

Everything I had there was pretty tasty, and the spicy level wasn't watered down either, there was definitely some beading of sweat on my nose... :)
