Great homemade, quality food. We passed through town on a midwinter Sunday just after the noon hour, and turned off the main N/S drag a half block on Washington Street. After the other couple left, were the only diners. Our lone hostess/cook/server/dishwasher was attentive and frriendly. The beer and wine list was good and we opted for the Belgian White. The Sunday menu is quite limited, with three salads and gyro with chicken, beef, or lamb. She mentioned that there was zucchini soup. The soup was delicious, and the greek salad was fresh and featured kalamata and feta in abundance. The gyros were good as well. Overall the cost was medium high, but we were happy to get the high quality ingredients, correctly and promptly prepared, and friendly staff in sleepy, American farm town Burns. I felt like downgrading them a star for very limited menu but I understand the economics are challenging here. We don't get through here often but will try them first when we come back.

Community Farm Store & Corfield Coffee Bar

I have only visited once, but I will be back. I was looking for decent baked goods and coffee in Duncan, on my way South toward Victoria.

Corfield Coffee is associated with the Community Farm Store and faces the old rail terminal/Cowichan museum and totem park along a main promenade lined by two busy streets... an easy location to find off Highway 1. It is in a lovely old multistory building and sits just inside an shallow atrium with stairs to the upper floors. A few tall tables and stools sit just inside the door to the outside, and a small cafe area sits in an open room just inside the atrium, opposite a hallway from a similarly-open new/used bookstore. Further down the hall is the Community Farm Store (which had lots of specialty and earth-friendly products... great place in itself).

It was a Wednesday, early afternoon and the place was busy. I lined up about 4 deep at the counter, and eyed the pastries, cakes and cookies in the display to my right. There were good wheat-free options and everything appeared decadent and homemade. I expected a wait, but they processed the line and got to me in only 3-4 minutes.

It is noisy and bustling with patrons inside the cafe room, and the tables in there were full, so I opted for the table and tall stool just outside. I'm happy there was adequate room despite how busy the place was.

I had selected the daily drip for my 20 oz. thermal mug, and a medium-large cinnamon bun. The bun was amazingly fresh, slightly buttery, soft (more on the doughy side than cakey/crumbly, but cooked through), with just the right bit of crunch of sugar, sticky caramel and freshly ground cinnamon. I rarely have a cinnamon bun - they are so big - but this was a special treat, and I am picky. I must honestly state, I have never had better.

The drip coffee was delicious and fresh - I'm a snob for my coffee and they were doing it right despite everything being so busy. I settled in with the front section of the newspaper. My companion also loved the coffee and her pastry.

Top quality... I will make sure to stop here again.

My dining companion and I dashed in here at 7pm on a Thursday evening. The decor is colorful with neon accents. Despite a lot of traffic we were seated right away. The menu was Tex-mex. The food was fine... nothing too fancy.

Great local Thai fusion cuisine, and a great bar. Delighted this is in my neighborhood within walking distance (longish walk, but not bad). Service is prompt, quality of food is excellent. The prices are not a steal, but not unreasonable. Drink options are highly creative and tasty.

My first experience is five stars... delicious pizza ordered over the phone, ready for me when I arrived 15 min later, hot and perfect and full of delicious organic flavor. The band onstage sounded pretty good too!
