I met my boyfriend of 2 years when he was a bartender at this bar... if it wasn't for On The Rocks, I wouldn't be with him! HAHA! Anywho, chill atmosphere and a great set of bartenders.  They have heavy hands, and the prices are right.  If you're a fan of karaoke, this is the place for you... if not, it's entertaining anyway.  Interesting clientele always leads to great people watching. :)

Sushi. Challenge. Worst idea EV-AR.  Of course I didn't have the guts to try it, but a group of  9 friends (boyfriend included) did... for $30 you get 4 lb of sushi (any speciality roll you please), and if you finish it in under an hour the meal is comped... if you could call it a meal.
My boyfriend had the Rainbow Roll... there was so much rice it was disgusting.  He finished in 35 minutes and got his picture posted on the wall... impressive ;) Out of the 9 people who tried, only 3 succeeded in finishing the 4 lb sushi rolls... yowza.
I sat on the other end of the table and ordered a Sashimi bento box... it came equipped with rice (that I gave away), a CA roll (that had WAY too much mayo in the crab salad... blah), 7 pieces of sashimi (very fresh, tasted good), salad with a NASTY dressing, gyoza (good!), and miso soup (also good)... it was quite a bit of food but I left wishing that I had ordered a roll or two like some friends.  No one complained about their sushi being BAD, but no one really said that it was amazing, either.  This place was 30 miles from my house, and just mediocre... since the bf already won the challenge, I think it's safe to say that we won't be back. Haha.

Oooh Beach Hut... which I lovingly refer to as Beach Slut. Such a great establishment.  This was my first time @ the Fair Oaks location (surprising, as it's a mile or so away from my house).  I was insanely hungover, and ordered a small Surfin' Bird... SO GOOD. The cashier even brought our food out to us... very nice.  This is definitely my favorite sandwich place.  Fun ambience... but I must ask one thing: WHY do all the girls that work there look 16 years old... not that it's a problem... but they are serving alcoholl!!

Hmm... was a little skeptical to try this place, because I never knew much about it.  A friend organized a dinner here before an ice skating adventure. :)
Was pleasantly surprised to hear that at the time we were there, they were offering $2 pints.  I tried Pete's Wheat which was a Bavarian Hefeweizen- it was tasty but not what I expected.  I definitely could smell (and taste) the banana in it.  I tried my boyfriends IPA and that was DEEEEELISH. I'll get it right one of these days. ;)
I ordered the Bistro Chicken Salad with a fat free raspberry vinaigrette. TASTY!!! It was kind of skimpy on the chicken though, and there was a lot of red onions (not a problem for me, but some may complain).  It was a decent sized portion, too.  I was impressed.  Boyfriend got the Mediterranean Burger... he said it was DELISH and came with a heaping side of fries... but the fries SUCKED.
Other members of our party were all happy with their pizza, fettuccini alfredo and knots.
Server was funny and VERY PATIENT when we asked to split up the checks in a very confusing manner..
It's not #1 on my list but it sure as hell beats Spaghetti Factory (BLARF) and I would return :)

I decided to take up a new hobby... RUNNING.  After using the shoes that I had purchased a year or so ago for the elliptical, I noticed that my hips and joints were hurting and aching.  I had been recommended to Fleet Feet by several friends, so decided to go in there. A very nice guy named  Kyle took a look @ my footsies and helped me find a pair of Asics that would help prevent injury while running.  The staff is VERY helpful, and the prices are competitive.  I would recommend this store to anyone!

Hands down, the best dinner I've ever had.  Now, I'm not sure if that's because I haven't been to that many "classier" establishments in my 26 years on this planet, or if my boyfriend just made the occasion THAT special.  
Anyyyway... boyfriend & I went this weekend for my birthday.  We had reservations for 7 PM.  The hostess told us that she would retrieve us as soon as the table was ready (we walked in a little early).  We decided to go to the bar.  He ordered a Sierra Nevada & I got a grey goose martini... it was delicious, and garnished with two blue cheese stuffed olives-- OM NOM.  
Shortly after we received our drinks we were escorted to our table.  Sitting on the table was a bottle of wine and a card.  The server also put down a pretty little orchid for me :)  Our server happened to be someone the boyfriend knew from years ago-- he was very helpful and described the menu wonderfully.  We started out with a wasabi seared ahi appetizer and a crab &  lobster bisque combo (SO good)...they were both delicious.  My boyfriend decided to go with the skirt steak and I had a seafood cioppinno.  The server was awesome and barely bugged us during our romantic dinner.  For  dessert we got a blackberry sorbet.
I thought the food was delicious, couldn't ask for better timing with the courses and the price was VERY reasonable for the wonderful service and food we received.... 5 well deserved stars, Scotts!

Pho Bac... YUM... so much better than Bo Bo, which makes me sad- becaue Bo Bo used to be so damn good. Anyway... decided to get some grub with the better half today.  We were both horrendously hungover and were craving some good food.  
Service was a LITTLE slow, but they were very polite and our food was great.  The fresh shrimp & pork spring rolls are SO good.  They're cheap and on the appetizer menu.  Boyfriend got some Pho (he always does), but I got some vermicelli with charbroiled shrimp.  Delicious.  A little heavy on the vermicelli, but that's ok.  I also ordered a lemonade which appeared to have been made from scratch as there was a spoon in the glass.  It was WAAAAAAAAY too sugary for me, I could only take two sips. Blargh.
Also, there were multiple flies chillin in the restaurant.  So although the food was tasty I am deducting a couple stars for the gnarly lemonade, excessive rice noodles and the flies. ;)
We will return, though!

I'm impressed! I hadn't been to Sunflower since I was a wee little thing, but I went with a friend last night... she had hyped it up so i was super stoked to try it again.  Plus I love healthy eating! I ordered a tostada, she had the infamous nut burger, and my boyfriend had a bean burrito.  I didn't try their food but my tostada was great!! Beans, tomatoes, a corn tortilla, sprouts, a little cheese and a little bit of sour cream! YUM! For two iced teas, the burrito and tostada it came to $17, which was a little pricier than what I had expected, but worth it!! I read that everyone says it takes a long time to get your food, but we were served within 5-8 minutes!

I will definitely be back to sample more stuff off the menu and get a fat free froyo shake... woohoo!

First of all... when I go to a sushi bar I want a mom & pop "hole in the wall" feel... AND THIS PLACE HAS AN ATTACHED NIGHT CLUB that offers booths and VIP status? What the hell is that crap? Really? Haha. Blech.

We sat at the bar because it was Happy Hour and they had some specials.  Boyfriend & his friend ordered some discounted rolls and I decided to try the sashimi sampler... becauses I LOOOVE me some sashimi.  

Female bartender had the personality of a banana slug... very unattentive, too.  I got the sashimi and it was SO nasty... really rubbery, and I could tell that the fish wasn't fresh because it was stinky.  The sashimi plate I ordered came with a "chef's pick," and they decided to choose OCTOPUS out of alllllll the different options they had.  Gross.

We had been here a few times previous to this experience, and it was always mediocre... we won't be back. :p

The only reason this place is getting 2 stars, and not 4 is because of the obnoxious service. I lovelovelove me some soup, salad & breadsticks. :) I can eat sooo much of that salad & minestrone soup. Delish.

Decided to go to OG with two girl friends (and their babies) a couple weeks ago.  For some reason we got THE most obnoxious server EVER.  We all ordered the same thing (soup, salad, etc.) but we ordered three different soups.  She said "mmhmm, excellent choice" to each one of them.  Shut up, lady.

We ordered our soups first, so I didn't assume that she would bring out the salad just yet- but she did.  I felt bad, but I asked her to bring another one with low-fat Italian (umm... I pig out on that salad... if I didn't order low-fat it'd be like 23048 grams of fat).  So she did... like 10 minutes later.  

After she dropped the salad off she stood in the "cashiers section" which was conveniently located RIGHT  NEXT to our table and eavesdropped and watched us the WHOLE entire time while making faces at my friends babies. WHO DOES THAT!??!! THEN she came to drop the check off and said that she is "done having kids" (obviously, cuz she's like 55 years old), and that she is "not ready to be a grandma, because her daughter is smart and going to college first" which I found KIND of offensive, because my friends are both young mothers-- is she implying that  they hadn't gone to college?  

Ugh. Whatever.  My bill was only $9 so I gave her a $3 tip (whatever 33%) just cuz I felt bad that I ordered something so cheap. I'll make sure to avoid her like the plague next time ;)
