Renaissance New York Hotel Times Square
Category: Hotels
Neighborhood: Theater District
Don't get me wrong, the Renaissance is just a few steps away from all this but for the purpose of being in the middle of all the action, I recommend staying at the Marriott Marquis.
The location of the Renaissance Hotel is at the North end of Broadway & 7th, at the outskirts of Times Square. None of the hotel's rooms really have the best view of everything Times Square has to offer, with the front of the hotel facing SE and the other end facing NW. All the activity is towards the SW side of the hotel, where no hotel rooms are facing. My room in particular was a corner room facing North which unfortunately didn't have the greatest view. Looking out my window were 2 huge corona bottles looking back at me.
The best view of everything from the hotel is only from its restaurant. It is located on the 2nd floor and faces the opposite end towards the jumbo tron, where the New Years Ball is dropped. One of the best views of Times Square no doubt! I didn't get a chance to eat at the restaurant but did marvel at the sight it had to offer, which I personally thought was the centerpiece of the hotel.
I am grateful for the bigger and partially separated rooms, which gave it a more homelike feel. I really appreciate you having more available parking spaces on the premises. I bow down to the mini kitchen area containing a fridge and food blaster (sup Michael). Kudos to the staff for their superb, welcoming service. And a final and huge commendation for fresh, soft towels. A slight improvement needed on the gym machines and breakfast buffet selections, which would of given SprinHill a fifth star, but other than that, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
I was very dissatisfied with my stay for all of these reasons:
-rooms were always sold out, they weren't available for my coworkers even those who were platinum members
-freeway seems like its at arms reach from your room, the noise is really noticeable especially at night
-don't get a room that's adjoined with another, you'll hear every noise from next door (I was lucky enough to have a neighbor who loved watching his TV late night at a blaring volume and who didn't turn off his cell phone alarm the whole morning.)
-jacuzzi jets were very weak, my farts can produce more pressure
-gym felt cramped, I couldn't lift a free weight without giving a person in the same room a black eye
-my TV was old and I wasn't able to adjust the brightness level on it
-towels were coarse and in dire need of replacement
My apologies for making this seem like a B**** session but I have one final complaint:
- twice, different staff didn't bother to ask for ID when I had to reset my room key, I could of told them any room number and easily walked into that room

Dalia Therapeutic Massage
Category: Massage
Neighborhood: Tarzana
At the time my back was bothering me and I didn't want to sit thru afternoon rush hour traffic while heading home from work in Pasadena. Then I thought to myself what better way to kill time until the freeways cleared up, go and treat myself to a relaxing massage.
So I called in and Dalia was able to take me in an hour later. I had a basic deep tissue, swedish massage and it was just what I needed. It was great! Dalia had more than 15 years experience so she really knew what she was doing.
Note: The place is hidden and Dalia rents out space in a spa under a different name. The spa is located in a shopping plaza with a Starbucks and Zankou Chicken. No walk-ins, only appointments.
I'm assuming the high reviews come from peeps who havn't tried other burrito shops in the area. I'll admit, I havn't been here for years and I remember the burritos being OK in the past. But the reason why the burritos were good was because it was a late night meal directly after a night of bar hopping. The place is one of very few 24 hour spots, which made it worthy of its 2nd star, but did people forget, anything tastes good after having a few drinks.
There are numerous other TDM's to check out, I recommend the one on Saviers and come here only if it's your last resort.
Tip: If a cab is desired, make sure to give yourself sufficient time. The hotel is away from all the action therefore cabs hate coming out in that direction and if they do show up, they don't have the patience to wait for you. Make an effort to be at the lobby at the time the front desk tells you to be there for your taxi. A minute late and your ride will be gone. Take this seriously, most especially if you have dinner reservations or a show to attend.

Hotel just went through some major renovations this past year and is located directly next to the airport. Parking can be a hassle, the hotel shares itslot with neighboring convention center but everything else about the hotel makes up for this. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Loved the spacious, redone lobby with a pretty descent restaurant next door. The gym was great with a seperate cardio and weight/ machine room. There were at least 30 cardio machines available, that's the most I've seen in a hotel. Really enjoyed my room with its suite style seperated bed and living room area. The flat screen TV had a media hub to connect your laptop or other peripherals. I'll admit, one of the best Marriotts I have stayed at.
