The Palazzo

First off, let me say that I'm very impressed with all aspects of both the Venetian and the Palazzo.

Everything except for one thing: they added $2.60 to each of my drinks at the pool without listing such a charge on the receipt. I'm not one to cry over spilled milk, but it's just a little sheisty, no? A $12 bloody mary with a standard $1 tip somehow shows up as a $15.60 drink.

Thanks, Palazzo!

Custom Hotel - CLOSED

Wow. And to think I actually looked forward to staying at the Custom Hotel.

They Custom Hotel has fine tuned their experience to be hip, chic and utterly disgusting when it comes to the customer. It's the friend at the party who doesn't want to talk to anyone, because they believe everyone else is below them; sure they look nice, but they are an asshole.

Two things businesses should not do: treat your customers like criminals and mess up money transactions. Basics of a business, right?

Whatever you do, don't bring a car to the Custom. They will either charge you an arm and leg ($25/day) to park or they will treat you like a criminal. You see, the Custom shares a parking lot with Ralph's, a southern California grocery store, and a bowling alley. The Ralph's parking lot limits parking to two hours and for "Ralph's customers only." Understandable. That does not mean the Custom needs to have a brodude patrolling the parking lot at all hours of the day, hassling Custom Hotel customers who decided to park in the lot and risk it. We were just running something up to our room. Do not make me move my car or pay for valet. Fuck you.

The Custom also committed the second cardinal sin of hotel stays: botching the payment. My friend and I were splitting the room. My friend was going to put it on her card and I gave her $200 to cover my half. I woke up this morning and realized they charged the _entire stay_ to my credit card (the incidentals card). What. the. fuck. Now I'll have to coordinate a conference call between my friend, the manager, myself and God knows who else.

If you value your time and dignity, don't stay at the Custom Hotel.

I went to this bar after 15 hours of traveling back from Berlin and little bit of sickness under my belt.

The beer selection is great, usually 5-6 beers on tap with more bottles than you can possibly imagine.

The prices aren't half bad for what I assume average Williamsburg prices to be. The fancy bottled beers will definitely break the bank, though.

Lares Restaurant

I have been here twice. This review is the average of my two visits.

The atmosphere here is top notch: small, cozy and authentic.

The food my first visit was also awesome. I can't remember what it's called but it's the first thing under the "specialties" section.

On my second visit, they messed up my order and my corrected food arrived a little chilly. I was crushed; I really love everything about this place.

Also, the mariachi band makes Lares fall into the "Hey, let me take you on this first date where I know this really cool place" category. Despite my bad luck, I'd still recommend this place.

N9NE Steakhouse

While the N9ne has many reviews across the spectrum of Yelp, my dining experience left me with a an overall indifferent feeling for the restaurant.

The food is great. The food is also expensive.

The night we were there, the bar was far too crowded to be of much use to anyone. The crowdation was much past the "hip" or "cool" point of person density.

The mood of the restaurant felt inexplicably dated with a certain polish over the top to give you the impression that this restaurant was built yesterday.

I had the filet mignon, which was expectedly a delicious steak. The steak was not as good as the filet mignon I heard the previous night at the Bellagio steak house. I'd recommend heading over to the Bellagio if you're looking to drop a lot of dough.

Taste of Thai

While a restaurant of this caliber wouldn't stand up to a cozy Thai place in a larger city, the fact that there is Thai food this _decent_ in Everett bumps it up to 4.

Prices are reasonably. The menu cover looks cool, the menu itself does not.

The taste is pretty good. They pass the Pad Thai test and their spicy Red Curry ain't half bad. I didn't care much for the Pad Cashew, mostly because I'm not a big fan of too many veggies.

Overall, a good Thai destination in Everett.

Quite the find for the little town of Leavenworth. Too bad it's a little pricey.

$12 for coffee and a salad is much too expensive for Leavenworth. Hell, that's even expensive for LA. This place is off the main strip, but I recommend checking it out. Their Oriental Chicken Salad is a nice treat for Leavenworth's remoteness.

Service is great and staff is friendly. The place is dead.

Earl's is what it is. Their drinks will have you playing for the All-Blacks in no time.

It's atmosphere feels like a "cool" parent trying to design a bar but falling short on so may levels. It's got dart boards, but they are the plastic kind. It's not dive, it's not class. It didn't feel college, either.

Granted, I did have a very good time when I went there. I attribute that entirely to the company I was with. Go with friends and forget about the atmosphere. Maybe that's why the drinks are so strong...

Red Lion Tavern

Red Lion brought me back to Germany for an evening. The beers on top are respective of what I found while spending a few months in Deutschland. Spaten, Paulaner and a few others (none of this Beck's and Hoegarten Scheisse).

Red Lion is a little on the pricey side, but it's a great haunt to relive memories and drink the finest beers in the world.

I didn't know Lynnwood made places this cool.

Unfortunately, Rock hovers somewhere in between rock god status and hokey impersonation. I think it's the newness and cleanness of the restaurant.

Also, the servers are a bit weird. Food and microbrews make up for it, though. And then you get your bill...
