I had a very delicious and satisfying bowl of phò with rare beef and brisket here. The broth was perfect, noodles were just right, and the beef slices were thin enough to be slightly cooked by the hot soup. Perfection. My only complaint would be that there was only a very tiny amount of brisket in my bowl, but I am sure that more can be had for a price. We had one of the friendliest and most helpful waitresses I have ever encountered anywhere. She alone might just warrant a return visit. Great service with a smile goes a long way.

A hole in the wall joint with tasty food. Carry out only. As of this review, they don't have a driver so are unable to offer delivery. Barbecued ribs are good, but when ordering a family meal good for 4-5 people, the sides were extremely tiny. The potato salad and coleslaw portions would have fed one or two.

Kiku

I always thought Japanese food was all about subtlety and presentation and all that jazz. Kiku is where you take your drunk college buddies that would normally be turned off by such delicacies as raw fish. The non-cooked maki rolls are OK but the others are breaded, deep fried and drowned in so many sauces and present such a jarring contrast of flavors and textures that they really should not be called a Japanese restaurant but more of an Asian fusion. The staff were friendly and helpful enough, but the decor and view out the window were pretty much uninspiring. Prices were a little high as well.

Ordered the Wonton soup and fried rice here yesterday. The broth in the soup was super hot, almost like molten lava, but soooo delicious and full of perfectly crunchy bok choy bits. Filling and meaty wontons, that almost take two bites to get down. And the fried rice was perfection. Best rice this side of Chinatown. Made from fresh rice with lots of egg, a decent helping of bean sprouts, and lots of yummy Chinese barbecued pork. None of that frozen pea/carrot crap, and no partially cooked onions either. Just pure heaven. Might even be better with a hit of Sriracha? Hmmm. That may be tempting the fried rice gods....

A staggeringly large collection of dishes at this buffet that tries to be all things to all men but only does some of them right. I would actually rather go to a place with smaller selection of well prepared dishes. A lot of the chicken, pork, vegetable offerings were pretty good. The appetizers were hit and miss. Dumplings seemed to be frozen and then overcooked. Decent sushi, and freshly made too. Very good assortment of soups. And the strawberry ice cream to finish off was a nice touch. Look for discount coupons in the Chicago Reader.

I love this place. It's a very tiny family-owned restaurant that takes me back to the time when I worked as an English teacher in Korea. I first came here for lunch in 2008 and my friend and I were the only ones here. The other night it was jam-packed with college students having a late dinner. The soondubu tofu jigae (spicy stew with seafood) was delicious, filling and not overly spicy. My friend ordered the bibimbap (mixed vegetables with rice) and she said it was great, only wished that they had the dolsot (hot stone bowl) variety. My favorite neighborhood joint for now.

Yep, this is definitely a mom-and-pop joint. The menu was very authentic, but as one reviewer pointed out, a little bit limited. It still reminds me of so many small places I ate at in Seoul.

I had a very good dish of kimchee jigae, and my friend had bibimbap. We also got some kimbap to share. We were both happy with our orders and the couple running the place were super friendly and helpful. The bill came out to about $24 all told. I heartily recommend this place.

A good selection of dishes, when I went here with my sister for a lunch buffet. The staff kept bringing out more fresh food and there was a good dessert selection as well. Extra entertainment was provided by the owner giving her son a long lecture in Mandarin about behaving in school. Good thing this place is near Amtrak so I could make my train back to Chicago on time.

Good food and an inviting atmosphere. Pity that they close so early. I had barely finished my almond soda with chocolate ice cream when we were basically being rushed out the door. Maybe it would be better if they were open until 11 or 12?

A good deal for lunch, their $6.95 buffet had about 6 or 7 items on a steam table, 3 kinds of soup, and a rotating selection of freshly made sushi rolls. The layout was kind of interesting since you have to walk back past the sushi bar to a tiny narrow balcony area where the food is kept. And most of the dishes seemed to be room temperature. Anyways, the garlic tofu, cashew chicken, and pad Thai were a-OK. Nice sushi too. Just wish they would change the CD.... the same songs over and over the whole time we were there.

Nice location and friendly staff, but very, very greasy food. My toast and hash browns were sitting in a lake of oil on the plate. Good coffee and scrambled eggs with cheese.
