Thai Ruby At Lake Sumter

My first visit to Thai Ruby (in The Villages) was better than I expected! The interior is beautiful and clean, and the service was excellent, attention to details exemplary, presentation of food perfect, and the actual meals were amazing. Everything is fresh and cooked when it is ordered.

I ordered Pad Thai, and it was the best I've had. We ordered Chicken Panang as an appetizer and for the life of me I can remember the other main dish, but it was ordered 'extra hot' and it was!

Dessert was an Iced Coffee... the Thai version of Vietnamese coffee. Perfect! Can't wait to return.

Very good Mexican food in a warm and inviting atmosphere.

We ordered a Burrito Supreme and a Chicken Quesadilla ... the Quesadilla was especially delicious IMHO. Service was quick; however, our waiter was hard to understand, pleasant but by no means friendly, and obviously did not seem the least bit interested in waiting on his customers except to get them fed and out the door.

Otherwise, this would be a 5-star review as the food was very good. Restrooms were clean, which was a plus.

Gator Joe's

Another great meal at Gator Joe's. Our choices (there were 4 of us) included Gator Chili, Chicken Salad, Poppers, Gator Chili Cheese Fries, Cole Slaw, and Fried Fish. We sat outside on the deck, looking out over the water (Lake Weir)... you can't beat the deck when there's a breeze blowing, and a rain storm in the distance. Waitress was great; food was served quickly.

Gator Joe's is a very charming restaurant nestled in the sand and over the water, with great views both inside and out. Gator Joe's is a 'must visit' when in or near Ocklawaha. My lunch, a Black and Blue Burger, was delicious, cooked as I requested, and with plenty of blue cheese. I was there at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning, so it was quiet when I arrived, but the parking lot and restaurant filled quite rapidly while I was enjoying the food and the views. Had the weather not been in the 50's I would have been sitting on the deck... next time.

Olive Garden

Our meal at Ocala's Olive Garden was very good. We ordered the Tour of Italy entree, a salad and Pasta Fagioli soup which was served quickly and presented well. Our waiter was okay... not overly friendly or helpful, but got the job done. The welcoming staff at the entrance was very friendly and professional.

Have always loved Olive Garden's bread but was surprised that no dipping sauce was available without paying $3.75 for it. We eat at a great Italian restaurant in the Summerfield / Belleview area and dipping sauce is on the table with the other condiments (no extra charge).

Tiramisu was delicious!

Five Guys Burgers and Fries

Good meat that you can taste, fresh and soft buns, delicious fries and pleasant service. We keep going back!!

Delicious hamburgers every time we go. I'm glad we have to drive a bit to get there. ;-)

I love Five Guys and this location is no exception. Friendly and fast service; clean; and very delicious burgers with flavor, and juicy. The buns are fresh and soft too, and the fries are fresh, hot and real.

Don't miss a chance to eat at Five Guys when you are craving a GOOD burger... or even when you aren't!

Little Joey's Italian Restaurant

Delicious Italian food! Portions are large and beautifully presented. The fresh hot bread is perfect, just begging for a dip in olive oil. We ordered an entree (Joey's Angel Hair Chicken - OMG mouth-watering good) and an appetizer (Fried Cheese) between the two of us, and had food left over for another meal! The tables filled quickly... Little Joey's is obviously very popular, and for good reason.

We plan to make many return visits because of the delicious food, great customer service, and the extensive list of entrees on the menu that we can't wait to taste. Located in very close proximity to The Villages on US 441 in a strip mall, parking is easy, free and convenient. Highly recommended Italian restaurant!! I know wine is served, but do not know if Little Joey's offers a full bar.

Billy's Cafe

Billy's Cafe has fast and pleasant service and a very convenient location on Hwy 441 in Lady Lake. We were seated quickly upon arrival, and our breakfast order was delivered very quickly. My Feta Omelet was good (they were generous with the Feta), but could have been much better if the heat had been reduced, and the omelet cooked slower so the outside of our omelets wasn't a bit 'brown' and the eggs weren't overcooked. A dry and boring biscuit (not hot) was served with our meals. If a restaurant is going to serve breakfast and biscuits, for goodness sake serve good, hot and fresh biscuits ... or just take them off the menu and serve dried out toast! It wouldn't take much for Billy's to start receiving 'more stars.' They do serve butter and/or margarine, which to me is a plus. Presentation of some of their crepes and pancakes looks delicious! I hope Billy's discovers the internet, reads their reviews, and 'steps up to the plate!' If we had enjoyed good biscuits, this would have been a 3-star review.

El Azteca

My friend Gary Davenport and I ate at El Azteca for the first time the other day during mid-afternoon. The restaurant is clean, large, comfortable and very easy to find, and has plenty of free parking. The menu at El Azteca is extensive ... I look forward to many meals there so I can try many of their menu items. Both Gary and I ordered burritos... excellent choice! The burritos, refried beans and rice were delivered quickly and hot (as opposed to cold). Everything was very delicious, and the serving sizes were more than ample. (I took some of my food home as I couldn't finish it all!)

As we were leaving we noticed a Mariachi band tuning up by the bar, and decided to sit and have a margarita and listen to the music. The band, which comes up to Ocala from Tampa, plays at El Azteca every Thursday from 6 'til 9. They are an experienced and talented group, and make for a very enjoyable evening. They (and the great Mexican food) filled the tables before we left!

Alfie's Tavern

This was my first visit to Alfie's, and it was at breakfast time. My cheese and sausage omelet with grits and biscuits was yummy and my friend, who had the same breakfast, agreed. I noticed that Alfie's even keeps your coffee cup filled... and quickly! What could make the breakfast better? The biscuits need to be hot and fresh!

Terrific diner! Service is fast, very friendly, very attentive, and the food is delicious. I was there with a friend for breakfast so I didn't have pie for breakfast, but boy, did the pie look good. (See photos). My breakfast of eggs, grits and biscuits was just as I requested, and the biscuits are huge! Of course I didn't want to waste anything, so the size of that big ole biscuit did not daunt me! Actually, neither of us left anything on our plates when we were finished! Prices are very reasonable, and the whole experience is well worth whatever it takes to get there.
