Great Food, Poor Service

Yes, the BBQ at The Commissary is the best in Memphis! That is for certain. Their ribs are as perfect as they could be. Their tamales are also excellent.

Then, there's the issue of actually having a meal there. That's where the problem is. You sit down in the cramped shotgun-shaped area with chairs smack up against each other. The waitress comes over and wants your order before you even look at the menu. Plus, she wants you to order an appetizer. The trick is that, if you do order one, you get it with your entree, pretty much thrown at you.

Very unpleasant, plus the food is lukewarm. Their whole objective is to get you in and get you out as quickly as possible. Even though it wasn't busy at the time.

Food: Five Stars / Service: Zero Stars

Bottom Line: Get the food for take out and heat it up when you get home.

No Filter, This "Championship" BBQ Isn't!

You can tell that this place has problems since it has three "Filtered" (i.e. fake) reviews. Management is trying to get fake reviews to make up for us actual Yelpers who are honestly patronizing establishments and are reviewing them.

Seeing the Filtered Reviews ticked me off even more since it only doubled down on our experience there! The staff is thoroughly joyless in their service. There is no welcoming spirit, none in the serving, etc. And, the food is also uninspired. In Memphis, you can't (bleep!) around with BBQ. And, you can't have your entire restaurant covered with trophies and then serve beyond-mediocre food.

We got BBQ chicken. It was barely lukewarm, it had a boring sauce that was also sprinkled with whatever spice. It was kind of like they couldn't decide on whether to sauce or dry rub the chicken. Regardless, it just wasn't good.

The only good restaurant in this space was The Pig, which unfortunately left a while back. Natural Born Grillers was there in the interim, and that wasn't good either. Unless The Pig returns, just say no!

Not Recommended. Avoid.

When you see the magic Hot Doughnut sign, that is your cue! Go on in and get a nice glazed yeast doughnut. Plus, they have a few cake donuts, including a chocolate glazed that was very good!

Completely Unique!

This is a great, old fashioned Five & Dime Store! You won't find a lot that's five or dime. But, it's a lot of fun to roam around. Lots of cool stuff! The prices are moderate to a bit expensive. Regardless, you know you will have to buy something! Like Ice Cubes, those great little chocolates. Or, the card game I bought.

Lots of fun! Stop on by.

Not That Great.

Rocky's is a place you want to like. Not a lot of Italian options in Branson! So, you are hoping that Rocky's would be good. The building itself is interesting. The staff is reasonably nice.

But, the food is mediocre to unusable. My wife had the pizza, which was pretty good. My Fettuccine Alfredo, however, was pretty much flavorless and lukewarm. I was disappointed. I even tried to doctor it up with salt, pepper and some Parmesan Cheese. But, to no use. I even tried to take it home in the cooler with me. When I got home, I ended up garbage disposing it.

Okay. But Quirky.

This is an okay place to stay. You will be paying $70/night. That gives you an idea. It is a hotel that has been around for a little while. So, you do hear neighbors' noise, children running up and down the hall, etc.

The Front Desk staff is only helpful to a minor extent. If you have issues with your room, you may or may not get assistance.

I wouldn't choose to stay here again. There are lots of other options in the Branson area. But, the convention I was in town for was there, so that's why I chose to stay there.

Great Church! Nice People!

I really loved coming to this church. We were in town for a convention. And, on Sunday morning before we left, we attended the 11 a.m. service. We were met very warmly and told where everything was. Immediately, we felt good about attending.

We were 15 minutes late, so we missed the opening. But, the sermon by their Assistant Pastor was great. Very much about what it means to be a Christian, and why it is important to help others and treat others well in life.

The closing was a very inspirational musical number by their band. I actually had tears welling up because it was so wonderful! I personally thanked one of the band members after the service.

This kind of modern-day church isn't for everyone. Yes, it is casual. And, yes, there is modern music with regular stage lighting and a minor amount of theatrical smoke. The congregation was quiet and respectful. I didn't get the applause the other reviewer did. If this kind of church is for you, then great! If it isn't, there are many other churches out there for you.

It is good that these churches exist. Many Americans have been put off by religion. This is the kind of church that welcomes people regardless of their religion. I found them all very friendly and very welcoming. I would love to visit this church on a regular basis if they were in my hometown! They do stream their services, however.

Meh.

At Genghis Grill, you essentially get food you could make at home. It's meat and vegetables put on a grill, then placed on top of rice. That's it. I just made basically the same thing tonight and liked it better!

This place is molto noisy! So, if you like a real racket, this is your place. The staff seems like they would much rather be anywhere else than here. And, it ain't cheap! You get to pay a bunch for mediocre-at-best food. The meat was chewy and sinewy, the scallops were almost microscopic, and the rest was thoroughly unremarkable.

Would you call this a positive review? You shouldn't!

Good Work, Proper Service

Ark does a very good job. They are courteous and efficient. And, they know how to operate a business properly.

Both times, a representative came out to inspect our roof damage and provide an estimate. When the work was performed, it was done well and efficiently. The work both times has held up well.
