This is the current apartment for us, but not for long!  The hubs found it last year when we decided to escape the city for our try at suburbia life.

This was the first apartment complex we saw and I was sold.  It reminded me of my fabulous Texas apartment; a luxury apartment with it's own private entrance.

We are currently renting a two bedroom/two bathroom split master floor plan with in unit washer-dryer for $1135.  I LOVE the floor plan.  I love my private entrance.  I love how close it was to the Metra.

We've have some issues with the dryer and AC this past year but the maintenance has always been really fast and quick to fix it.

Why are we moving you ask?  Well, it's April and we seemed to move EVERY April and suburbia is not for us.  I really wish I could pick up my apartment and put it into the city, it's such a great layout.

However, as great renters as we have been, not causing any trouble, always pay rent on time, do not disrupt others, they wanted to raise our rent $115/month!  Dang!

Move-tastic!

Update - 3/25/2011
It's April aka April Serial Mover time for the hubs and I.

We secured our move-in date and I immediately checked my Yelp page to figure out who those awesome movers I used last year were called.  Ah-ha, thank god I yelped back then (I took quite the hiatus) and discovered it was Move-tastic!  Oh, what a silly name, I would have never remembered that!

I put in my request and email right away.  I told them to just pull up last year's invoice as we didn't add any furniture and we were basically moving the same distance (back to the city from Naperville).

When I saw the estimate, I almost fainted.  Last year with tip we paid I want to say $500 and that was for a total of 4 hours to go from Chicago to Naperville.  This year, the estimate was $800.

Uh, we have a one bedroom apartment with minimal things.  I'm quite the minimalist and am constantly decluterring closets and tossing things out.  What the heck was going on with this estimate?!

I emailed the person back many times asking what happened?  They increased their fees and added a travel fee!

I had to pass.  That is just nuts.  I loved them, but man, I'm willing to do a U-Haul and save $620.

This year's move (we are becoming serial movers during the month of April) I left the choosing of the movers up to the hubby.  He checked Yelp and decided that the rest of the Yelpers couldn't be wrong.

Daniel, Tristan and Marco showed up a little before the scheduled time, bonus and immediately got to work.  The three of them, got our two bedroom down the three flights in Irving Park to Naperville and unpacked within 3 hours.  We were quoted for 6 hours of work, and they were done in 3 hours.  That is speed people, especially considering there was a travel time!

I had even packed my car with clothes on hangers and bags of food and after their truck was unloaded, they offered to unload my car, no charge.

So, not only did their speed impress me, but unlike the movers we used last year, not one thing was broken!  AND, they all speak English!  Last year, trying to communicate with the movers was a challenge.

And, lastly, as a work comp insurance adjustor, I just had to ask if they had any work injuries.  They advised me no, and that they practice safe techniques and if they can't lift something, they always get help.  They all had a really good work ethic and seemed really proud of their company.  That's a nice thing to see in today's age, a worker who is proud of their product and their company.

Pandora

I've been in this Pandora about three times.

It all started with wanting a charmed bracelet for Christmas.  The hubs and I didn't exchange gifts this past year, so I decided to use my Christmas money from my parents to buy my bracelet.

I knew exactly what I wanted; a purple corded bracelet with two charms.  You see, I built my two BFFs the same idea, a colored cord with two different charms.  I was going to match with the purple one.  Oh it was going to be so cute.

Well, as this store was very new at the time, the girl who just happened to be working the day I came in after Christmas didn't even know what the cords were, nor how to properly assemble it.  She was tying it all around my arm all ridiculous.  I kept thinking to myself, hmm, I hope this isn't what I got my friends because at that store it looked so much easier and cute.  Well, I was right, this girl had no idea.

I ended up leaving the store with my two charms but on the traditional silver bracelet, which is fine.

Around Valentine's Day I took the hubs and advised I wanted a charm for the holiday.  This time we had a different sales lady and she was informative and nice and all around pleasant.

Last week I decided I wanted my purple cord.  The hubs and I marched back to the store and the original girl was there, again, ack!  And, despite it being 3 months ago, she still didn't know how to do the cord!  I ended up just buying the thing and figuring it out myself.

Now every time I want to go to Pandora I stray from her.  She didn't even remember me and I have a memorable voice.  Blech

I did the usual Craiglist scouring for the annual April move and found quite a dump.  It looked a tad better in pictures, but it was priced right for the property.  Mark emailed me back about showing the place and asked if I had extra time that day to see other places and asked for our budget and so forth.

The night before we were to go out and see the CL place, he advised that a new place just came on the market and fit exactly what we were looking for and we could see it in the morning.

Oh, it was our dream place and that's where we are moving next week.

The process was really easy, Mark negotiated the price and was in constant contact with us.  Highly recommended.

Red Robin

Red Robin is slowly becoming one of my favorite places to go.

First, it's easy.  We've been to this location three times now and never had to wait.  We're always seated promptly and the waitstaff is very attentive.

Second, it's great for quick food.  I love the clam chowder and the chicken fingers and fries.  These are now my favorite chicken fingers out there.  The perfect amount of breading that has a delightful taste!

Third, it's not pricey, very couple friendly.  The husband and I do sodas or teas, a meal each and sometime an appetizer and don't even break $30 after tax.  That's way more affordable than some other places we like to frequent.

I can only comment on the grooming during this review, as that's all we really have done at this Petsmart.

We brought in a grungy looking Lhasa Apso who was shaking quite a bit, but out came only 3 hours later, an awesome smelling and looking dog!  He was very happy and the salon worker stated how calm and mellow he was and easy to cut.  Phew.

I ESPECIALLY liked that we received a little report card of the services that were done and his demeanor noted.  That sure is helpful.

The price was as expected as we had to pay for de-matting fees, but that was entirely our own fault.

A day later and the dog still smells great!

I do love soda fountain types of eateries, therefore, this was a no brainer.

The prices are way higher than I usually pay for a little sundae.  It's a little too expensive for more than once a week, and even then, it's a bit pricey!  But, the ice cream was delicious, two scoops of cookies and cream, hot fudge and whipped cream hit the spot when I was craving ice cream, BAD.

The husband and I enjoyed our sundaes while playing a game of chess on their table boards.  Nice little evening!

I tried out the place down from my work the first day it opened.  I was quite impressed with their selection and the atrium had been smelling wonderfully due to the baking of bread.

One of the workers was showing me how I could order food at a computer and just go down and pick it up.  Well, she scanned my credit card twice, no worky so she gave me my meal on the house.  Awesome.  I'll happily take it as it was QUITE pricey for a salad.

I got the chicken caesar salad to go and it was alright.  It was decent, don't get me wrong but the little piece of bread they put in the salad stole the show.  I wasn't planning on eating the bread but after one bite, I had to gobble it down.  Great flavor.  The salad was good, too, but not sure it was worth the $9 or so after tax.

I'll definitely be back, but as I'm really trying to work on my weight, I haven't dared look at the baked items because I know they have chocolate chip cookies that will just call my name.

Okay, now that I've been to Rivers on many many occasions for work, I got to tell you, if someone offers to take me to lunch, I yell out Rivers just as quick as they ask me the question.

One reason alone, okay, well maybe not, but the charred beef salad, oh my god, I adore it.  I dream about it.  I obsess about it.  I LOVE it.  The spicy chipotle dressing, to the excellently cooked beef, to the blue cheese and the bacon bits.  Oh god, I love it.

And, then the flourless chocolate cake, yuuummm.  I'm got a charred beef steak in my near future.

I find this place a bit meh.

I found myself here due to a client happy hour one day during the work week.  Since I don't drink because I'd rather waste calories on food, I was hoping to have a Diet Pepsi or hand-squeezed lemonade to which they had none, boo.  Ah well.

We had some appetizers.  The chicken quesadilla was quite bizarre.  There was an Ahi-Tuna crispy thing and that was quite tasty.  I should have had more of that, it was delightful.  A plate of crispy chicken tenders were there as well and as a sucker for fried food, oh my, they were awesome as well.

We were outside, and as the time passed, more and more suits came.  I almost felt like it was just too much business and not enough leisure.  I'm glad I wasn't there with the girls or the hubs, because I would have felt so out of place.  So, this fits the bill for work gatherings most definitely.

Our waitress was very prompt and attentive to the big group.

I did enjoy the live music going on, that was pleasant.

Metra-Route 59 Train Station

I agree with the previous poster about the speakers being so inaudible you can't hear what they say and having to walk forever to cross the tracks.  That's kind of irritating.

However, my coworkers scared me into thinking I'd never get a spot, I'd have to be at the train station during the 6am hour just to park, etc.  Not at all.  We take the 7:17 train and there are TONS of spaces, even numbered spaces in the closest lot on the Naperville side.  So, yeah, parking hasn't been an issue at all.

I like how the people are quiet for the most part in the morning and same with the afternoon.  The conductors are all nice and for the most part, we get to where we're going without a hitch.  It sure beats the CTA!
