I really want to give the Brownstone 5 stars, I really do, but I can't.
You see, they have Texas Queso here people. Yes, honest to god, I felt like I was back in Texas for awhile queso. But, it's only on Saturday's WHEN UT is playing. So, I can't just stop by on a Wednesday when I'm dying for queso.
Now, I can get over the fact that queso is not a permanent fixture on their menu, but their actual menu items.... leave a lot to be desired.
The tortilla soup tasted like straight up tomato soup, blech. The grilled cheese was SOO crunchy on the outside it seriously cut my jaw. The burger was okay, nothing worthwhile. Their tator tots are good but a tad on the greasy side. Their skillet cookie.... the middle was raw. I like raw cookie dough, but at a restaurant, I'm not sure that's quite right.
We'll be back for UT games next fall for the queso alone!

I've been wearing glasses since grade 5. Each year, I grow anxious to see the eye doctor. The headaches start to appear about daily as I continue to squint and feel more blind each day as I stare at distorted faxes and dual monitors running DOS programs at work.
I show up for my appointment rather early, because I was excited and was impressed with the decor. The tests were easy enough and the tech was patient my nonstop watery eyes and anxiety over the blowing/poof machine test.
The optometrist I had was a lovely young woman who again was very patient and even took my blood pressure. She confirmed what I thought was true, my eyesight had really changed in one year. She showed me my old eyesight compared to the new and it was shocking.
I then asked for assistance picking out frames and one of the workers spent a lot of time with me and I ended up finding a pair that I feel is really more my style.
I was there a total of 2 hours but it was time well spent. I will definitely make this my eye doctor instead of just a place to try this year and try something new next year.

I'm in love....with their turkey gravy. The cashier told me it was seasonal two weeks ago, so I bought 5 boxes to be on the safe side. I could drink that gravy and it really is superb on their turkey breast.
Their oranges and pineapple are some of the best I've ever tasted. Their belgian milk chocolate is also some of the best I've ever had and super cheap!
One of their new items is Doggie Jo-Jo's. They look AND smell like real human cookies. My pup likes to hold one in his mouth for awhile and take his time with it. Even he knows they are special! Ah-ha!
My only complaint about the store and it's not even the store's fault are some of the shoppers. They are so dang determined to look at something while right next to their cart so you can't look at the area nor get around them. Ah well. Can't change inconsiderate morons.
The chili, our go-to-appetizer was of the perfect consistency. Nice and meaty and the waitress didn't skimp on portions.
Burgers were made to order.
And now, the prices are even cheaper, hooray!
We barely, ever go out to the suburbs. Wait, let me rephrase, we have been out to the 'burbs, maybe five times in a year and we've been here twice, and it's always just right!

Taco Bell / KFC
Category: Fast Food
Neighborhood: Irving Park
I was all set to drive through the drive-thru. Plan failed. The drive-thru was long and it didn't connect inside the lot. I was going to have to turn around by going out of the lot into Irving Park. Okay. No problem, I'll go inside.
Wow, tons of people sitting and waiting in line at 5:45p on a Thursday. Wow, I guess a lot of people like KFC/Taco Bell for dinner...
There was only one person running the front register and packaging the food. I was there for 25 minutes which seems quite long for fast food.
I came home and the food was okay. The original crispy wasn't really crispy. Sort of soggy and the wedges weren't too fresh.
Eh, I won't be back for a dinner.

Walked in 30 minutes before my appointed time slot. I was given a key to a locker and told to lock up everything except my ID. Once done, I was called to go into another room.
I had to show them my empty jean pockets, put away the calculator I brought to the locker, sign my name just like my ID, and follow the personnel to my station with their approved paper and pencil.
It was nice and quiet, which I greatly appreciated. The chair was comfy. Computer cubicle station was clean.
It was just fine. Never experienced such crazy test environments before but I did really appreciate how quiet it was.

I'm not a fan of how often they run during rush hour. 6:30pm, waited 25 minutes for a bus on a Thursday. 15 minutes one morning during rush hour around 7:30am. Thank god I can track them on the Bus Tracker. However, there have been many times the Tracker says it's 8 minutes away and a bus pulls up. Weird, but convenient.

Pannenkoeken Café

I walked in and felt like I was back in Europe with all the crammed little tables in the cafes. The place has 7 tables, 3 for just 2 people and 4 for just 4 people.
We did not have to wait long, about 10 minutes which was enough time for the hubby to run around and find cash, cash only, meh!
I tried the chocolate pannenkoeken and the hubby had the full order of french toast. I LOOOOVED his. That was by far the best french toast I've ever had in my life. My pannenkoeken was very good and filling. I also ordered a side of bacon and that was amazing as well.
The knick knacks on the wall were really cute and neat to look at.
We'll definitely be back.

We were seated on the third floor. The bread was great. The salad was good. The steak was perfectly cooked. It was seared just right and moist like it ought to be, but.....bland bland bland.
Where's the flavor?! I wanted to salt the bad boy it was so tasteless but I thought that'd be beyond tacky.
Our waiter had forgotten my baked potato so it came out a bit later, but that was well worth it.
The dessert was great. The hubby had a hot fudge sundae and that hot fudge was amazing.
Total with tip, $199. We won't be going back. I've had better steak. If I had to go back, I'd do bread, salad, potato and ice cream, ha.
We agree Harry Caray's still has a better steak and it was cheaper.
