Chipotle

Category: Mexican

3.0 star rating

I've been hearing for the last five years about how great Chipotle was, and have never gotten around to actually having it until last night. I have to say, I think that the hype may have built up my expectations a bit too much. The burrito was delicious, but at 7$, the cost to delicious ratio was pushing the limits of acceptability.

The service was fast, got the spicy beef, with white rice and black beans, salsa, sour cream and cheese. The spice to the taste wasn't overbearing to the point where I could not enjoy the food. If you're craving burrito's, but dont have the time or resources to make them at home, Chipotle is a great alternative, but otherwise, I could make something similar at home on the cheap.

Pork Barrel BBQ

Had a weekend lunch experience at the Pork Barrel BBQ, and can't say I was particularly impressed. The dining room area had a minimalist feel to it, with a handful of booths and some more tables, bottled soda's (and beers?) sitting in tin trophs, an open air kitchen(?).

A few questions I had going in, were still lingering as I left. How fresh could the meat be? I didn't smell, nor see a cooker, smoker, grill, or any other apparatus to cook meats on. I did see the pile of pulled pork sitting on the kitchen counter as we came in, presumably had been sitting through the entire lunch service.

Looking at the fancy digital menu board, I was shocked to see the latest news headlines scrolling across the bottom, yet the price of the half chicken had a piece of duct tape over it with a half of a cardboard box announcing the new portion size and price.

First Impressions.
Pulled pork bbq, (about) 6.50 for sandwich only, sides were (about) 2.49 and fountain drinks were (about) 1.50.

There are other options, the brisket lurking in the upper 7$ range, glass bottled sodas and beers would run you 3.50 each.

I went with pulled pork, Monster Mac 'n Cheese and a fountain drink,

First, I will say, southern sweet tea drinkers do not apply. The sweet tea here, was less than sweet (not always a bad thing), but I know many people that think McDonalds sweet tea is the gold standard for Southern Sweet Tea, and the PBBBQ's tea does not live up.

Side- Monster Mac. I imagined that the monster mac n cheese would be Velveta slathered, gooey, and baked. I was wrong. The Monster Mac is a bit watery, reminding me of grade school cafeteria grade mac n cheese. The taste is a hint of cheese with a kick of spice. I imagine, if I were to ask a Canadian to make me "Southern Mac N Cheese" this is what I would get.

BBQ- Plain, the bbq seemed to be slightly fatty, which is exactly how I like my pork shoulder. There seemed to be very little taste (we're talking without sauce). No smoke, no vinegar tart, nothing.
To talk about the sauces, I think we'd begin to talk about a matter of preference. I personally liked the original (more tang) than the sweet (very brown sugar...y).

Hopefully if you decide to ignore this review, your experience is better than mine!

I'm falling right in line with everyone else, and have to say that I shopped around for prices and customer service, and ended up being happiest at Lencrafters. Prices on the frames was the cheapest I had seen anywhere else, and the customer service was pretty good too. 4/5 stars because, while it was a holiday (MLK Day) they seemed to be a little understaffed. I understand that they might have not expected the large crowd, but it seemed like there could have been more planning on that. Good experience over all, I'm happy with my purchase.

Of all of the Cafe's, in all of the towns, it had to be you.

Christmas dinner is supposed to be a special time, where family comes together to enjoy a good meal and to catch up, to enjoy the company of one another and to really remember what makes that family special. Well, my family vacations on Christmas, so we were able to enjoy this special meal here at Chartres House.

We enjoyed the taste of New Orleans as an appetizer, having what we all had agreed was New Orleans...best jambalaya. For some reason, maybe there was something special in the air.

I had the roast beef po'boy which was made with a slow cooked roast beef that was delicious. Wife had crabcakes, which were ok, but nothing compared to the roast beef po boy.

Christmas day, my wife and I were out exploring the magical French Quarter. Happened upon this spot around noon time, and decided on some drinks. The bloody Mary is unlike anything else ive ever seen. Mimosas were great, and the atmosphere was fun, a much more inviting and laid back atmosphere than other places open on Christmas day.

If you're in town, skip the lines at Du Monde, get here early in the morning and have some of New Orleans best Beignets! Hands down, these bad boys come fresh more often than at Du Monde and are served in a much better atmosphere. Family run business that is head and shoulders over whatever the competitors are trying to do!

Didn't have much here to eat besides the Duck Meat Quesadillas. We had an order of those, and few drinks. Some of the most reasonably priced adult beverages in the town, some of the most friendly wait staff in the French Quarter. They're happy to provide suggestions, advice, or just fun conversation. Love this place, just make sure you're not going there with large groups of tourists or you might miss the charm of this small place.

This spot was our choice for dinner on New Years Eve. This is in the heart of Old Towne, down by the water front.

I will say this. Two of the four stars, comes from drinks alone. The drinks are well made, while a reasonable price.

The dinner was OK. I got the chicken breast, wife got the Salmon BLT, we also got hush puppies as an appetizer. The Hush Puppies were pretty good, the sandwiches were average, and the price wasn't too bad.

Mediocre price, mediocre food.

Even if you're not on the mood for food, this is s great place to take a load off, grab a drink and listen to some live music. Great setting, and the ice cream infused drinks are a delicious treat. Drinks can be pricy, running from 4$ for a beer to 7.75 for a mix drink,so be prepared for that.

There is waiter service, or you can get your drinks to go from the window.

Great place if your other options are best buy or target it some other big retail chain. The prices aren't far off of what you'd pay at tigerdirect or newegg, sometimes the deals are better. Ton of selection with good customer service. Worth the drive from inner beltway.
