The Monterey Crispy Chicken sandwich is okay - not terrific. The cheese is this kind of "goo" rather than a slice. My daughter loves it. Me? I would prefer the same good ole' chicken sandwich.
My favorite remains the Bacon Cheeseburger. Wendy's (as I've said before) definitely has McDonald's and Burger King beat as far as taste is concerned. They could stand to streamline their ordering/order filling (and have employees care just a touch more) - otherwise - it's quite good.
Wendy's is as close to the real deal as it gets. McDonald's is completely fake, and Burger King is wildly inconsistent.
Burnt Bacon... not good.

The "standard" Barleycorn burger was quite good. Good service and we didn't have to wait too long. Tip - if you like pot roast or "French Dip" sandwiches, you have to try the one here - it's terrific...
Quite good - and the chicken deals they ran for October were unbeatable! The pot roast sandwich (French Dip) is the best thing ever.
Here's the thing about this place - the food is good, the service is mediocre to terrible. So if you're reading all these reviews and thinking, "why does he keep going back?, it's the food, definitely not the service.
Good food, service a bit slow. Table wobbled badly, I stuck the menu under it (you would think they would fix that). We only go to Don Pablo's when there's a deal.
We made a return visit after the last fiasco - this time to the Hyde Park location. They did much better (although the server could be a tad friendlier).
This was terrible, truly terrible. We were there for two birthdays, had guests with us, and spent *90* minutes there, then left after we STILL didn't have our order, and only had seen our server *4* times during the visit. She rushed through taking the order, which we wound never seeing (I'm sure it would have been wrong) - the table next to us waited 45 minutes to pay their check, another table over 20 minutes to order... my guess is she had 6 tables, three were parties of 6 or more. If she was new, she should say so - the manager certainly didn't when I got up to go get him and complain. We wound up leaving - the manager never offered to "make it right" or comp anything or even explain what was going on with this server. She was SO oblivious when she saw us walking out, she said our food was up (it probably had been sitting a LONG time) and when I told her "I've spoken with your manager, she said, "oh ok" as if we were fine to leave.
The other complaints here about service are justified, since I've experienced first-hand the sheer negligence of the staff at this location, manager included.
Definitely not worth your time, and I will be complaining to the senior management, I assure you.
EDIT 07/02/2010: Posted to Twitter: Just sent message to Paul Seidman, CEO/President of Don Pablos about this, let's see if he cares: http://ht.ly/26kjm
EDIT 0715/2010: Upgrading this to 3 stars (from 1) - Received a personal phone call and a FedEx'd letter of apology and assurance the upper management of Don Pablos will be visiting the Newport location soon, and will be taking measures to fix what people have experienced and detailed in these reviews. We will give it another shot in the future after they've had a chance to improve. I've never heard of a company sending the response letter via FedEx.
EDIT 07/17/2010: Posted to Twitter: Don Pablos upper mgmt will be fixing the issues in the Newport KY location - they do care, impressive mode of response... http://ht.ly/2cZcR
Went on free tea day - their tea is quite good. I've eaten here before, and they do a better job than Panera Bread which is in the same plaza/town center.
Good location, plenty of seating.

We were put in the back of the restaurant, which must be Siberia. The service was incredibly slow. While the portions at this location are very generous, you pay for it other ways - a server that forgets a lot of things, takes forever to come back... It must be one of those cosmic things that is happening... whenever I visit Cheddar's, there always seems to be some kind of problem.
Cheddars has improved since my last visit. I stopped going for a while due to issues with cleanliness and service. I didn't see those issues on this visit.
Not that there isn't room for improvement...

I keep doing this... Oh, McDonald's. If only the term "fast food" meant that you were actually fast. I know - why do I keep going back here if there's problems and poor service? It's the name - my kids are completely brainwashed into the McDonald's paradigm. And I am a little bit too. It's like playing the lottery - one day, you think you're going to win.
This location as a two lane drive thru which comes down to one line. Twice now, it's been so unbelievably slow, I think I could fare better walking into the restaurant and ordering.
Why have two lines into one if you can't keep things moving along? There's a clock inside over the drive thru window which clocks how long a customer waits.
...it's always blinking red.
They raised their prices. Boo.
BIG order for a birthday party...Colleen did a great job!
Much better service this time around, but the order was still screwed up.
Slippin' guys. Turn on the nice.
Consistently average. No surprises this time out.

Is it me or is Abuelo's in a slump lately? We went on Valentine's Day, and the place was almost deserted. The food quality wasn't what we usually expect.
...have to see if this improves and survives.
The new pork dish is excellent!
Visit 10/26: Server Chuck did a good job - still getting the same thing, they do so well with it - have to try some other things on future visits.
Fantastic lunch! Server did an excellent job, food was terrific!!
Excellent! The sour cream enchiladas are the best. Sometimes there is a wait for this restaurant, but it's worth it. The decor, especially the ceiling in the main part of this location is excellent!
It's open like a courtyard that's inside. Every part of any visit we've made to Abuelo's has been nothing short of top notch!
"wherever I go, there I am."
