Love the store. Love their lines. Wish I could justify their prices. Nonetheless, this is a great place to go for inspiration and to, perhaps, pick out a few very quality pieces...

Staff is very friendly and helpful, and I look forward to when they move to their permanent location. (Right now, they are temporarily on the second floor near Sephora.)

This place used to be kind of cool, but since they renovated, it's like a ghost store. There is barely anything in there, and 50% of the store is dedicated "gallery space."

I've been in the store three times, and each time, the person working has barely acknowledged my existence... sometimes not even looking up, let alone saying hello.

As with many of the stores in the area, they sell things that can be found easily online... for much less money.

Too bad about their renovation, though. As I said, it was better before.

This place definitely has some cool items... I enjoy walking through here, but very often I will just take a photo of the item that interests me and try to find it online through the original vendor. The markup on items here is insane and I just can't justify spending the money they charge when you can buy the exactly same things for half the price elsewhere.

Whomever prices their inventory definitely needs a reality check.

Staff is also incredibly rude and smug... I was interested in a ring, but was unsure about wanting to spend the money, and she acted like it was a hassle to show it to me because it was taking away her valuable computer usage time.

If you're going to charge those prices, you should learn some level of customer service.

I hadn't been into this store until recently, despite having been in the area several times. For whatever reason, they were always closed, even when their hours said they should be open. This past weekend I got a chance to finally go in.

I can't say as though I was too impressed. There was nothing really cute or fun, or even worth looking at... I agree with another poster who stated that this place seems to cater to middle aged women, and not so much to contemporary young people that populate the Broad Ripple Shopping district.

I will likely never enter this store again, as the idea of being there bores me to tears.  lol.

Chelsea's

Chelsea's has some cute/interesting items... Including some unique-ish jewelry pieces, but much of the store is filled with cards and knick knacks that have no real value (but that are somehow priced like they are precious metal or something).

It's kind of a weird amalgamation of items, and once in a while you'll find something fun, but most of the time, it's just a way to kill a few minutes before doing something else in the area.

Also, agreed on the weird salt and pepper shakers, and whatnot. I'm pretty sure the store is run by an old lady who has no concept of what people in the area want.

P.S. Their cat may look cute, but it is evil... it hissed at me from ten feet away, and old lady sales clerk acted like I should have known better than to look at the cat (in the wrong way, I guess), as she said to me kind of scoldingly/rudely, "He's blind so you shouldn't get close to him." The store isn't that freaking big... If your cat is a hell beast, leave it at home.

I like the IDEA of this store, and I alway go in when I'm in the area, but unfortunately it doesn't seem like their merchandise rotates very often... I wish there was more of a selection... just more to look at and discover.

Unfortunately, they are also a little bit pricey... which I understand for quality made goods, but some items are clearly manufactured and marked up significantly.

Arts A Poppin, while nice enough, just doesn't seem to do it for me... Though I will agree with another poster in saying that the staff always does seem friendly.

Great selection. Lots of fun stuff to look at... Owner is very helpful, and the prices are reasonable. I also pop in here when I'm at the CIty Market to take a look around, as she seems to get new things all the time.

I also like that she seems to be a bit moveable on prices, and that you can find some truly unique pieces if you take the time to look.  :)

When I was making a list of things to do on my visit to Nashville, I was SOOOOO excited about The Cat Shoppe. It did not disappoint in the slightest. I love the idea of this place, and the implementation. I love feeling like my purchases help animals.

I encourage anyone looking for a cat (or even just some special gifts for your current pet) to check out The Cat Shoppe. It will absolutely brighten your day!

Full disclaimer: *I*, being the exception, left crying... because cats without homes make me sad... and I really really really wanted to take Smooshy Nose Cat home with me.

While visiting Nashville, two friends and I stopped here for dinner. We didn't have a reservation (and didn't even know we needed one, as it was an idle Thursday and the website made no reference to it).

Unfortunately, we were immediately met by a "host" who scolded us for not having a reservation (despite the fact that the restaurant was basically empty at that point.) He seated us, but his attitude had already put us all off. Our waiter came and collected our orders... We started off with appetizers and soup, unsure if we even planned on staying. (We did ultimately end up leaving without ordering mains.)

We heard another table scolded because a member of their party was late and she was told that they wouldn't have enough time to eat if the person didn't show up soon (this was 5 hours, at least, from their closing time)... Basically they were just saying that they had booked the restaurant in such a way that the "schedule" of eating must be adhered to strictly...

Personally I hate that idea in the restaurant business. If I am paying for a good meal, I want to be able to sit down and ENJOY it. I want to savor my food. I want to enjoy the people I'm dining with. I don't want to be on a tight time budget because you have overbooked your restaurant to the point where your diners are being rushed out the door. Seriously, how greedy can you get?

For what it's worth, however... From what I tasted of the menu at Yellow Porch, I think they have the food chops... But what they lack completely are customer service skills and management to be successful.

I would have enjoyed exploring their menu, and likely would have made a point to visit whenever I was in Nashville, but now I will never go back... Because while I love good food, there's so much more to having a successful restaurant that culinary skills.

Hotel Indigo Nashville

I had the opportunity to spend a couple of nights at Hotel Indigo Nashville on a recently girl's weekend. I will begin by saying that the hotel was in a great location for me... There was great access to many areas of the city, and it felt like it was easy to get around from this centrally located hotel.

The interior of the hotel is (predictably) music themed, and even offers live music in the bar area in the lobby most evenings. The art and decor consisted of many contemporary furniture pieces mixed in with musical history items and paintings.

The rooms were large, and clean... and our room had a great view of downtown Nashville. We were also on the same floor as the "roof deck," which allowed you to sit outside and enjoy the view while relaxing or using the internet.

The beds were comfortable, and the staff was kind. Parking was a bit pricey, and we decided to pay the extra just to valet...

I was happy with my stay and the only caveat was that the hotel seems to be losing a bit of its "sparkle." Wall scuffs need touched up, floors cleaned, some furniture freshened or replaced. If the Hotel Indigo Nashville wants to be seen as a "luxury" hotel, they have a bit of work to do to get to the level for the prices they charge.
