I went here at the suggestion of a friend, thinking I'd get one of my two annual massages. Well, I walked out with a membership. Since I've only been here once, I don't have a lot to say, but I can attest to the following:
- my masseuse was great. She listened to me/my preferences and was very well trained.
- the service is friendly and welcoming (even first thing on a Saturday morning).
- my entire experience was relaxing. From the waiting room to the massage table, I had a soothing time.
Can't wait to go back later this month!
We started with the small plate calamari, which was great as an appetizer and very unique in flavor. My entrée (the lobster ravioli) was de-lish-ous. The presentation was divine. Hubby had a pizza, which was good, but probably nothing to write home about (he doesn't usually venture away from his "regulars").
The service was friendly and attentive and I really appreciated our waitresses willingness to bring me a special order of snap peas in the middle of my meal (culprit: pregnancy craving).
I also really liked the building - it had a lot of character and had clearly been there a while. The art was a bit of a mix, but overall the atmosphere was warm and enjoyable.

Tim had the sausage sampler. Not the best, he says, but to be fair were from TX and our preferences may just differ from the NE. We also split the crab/lobster wontons and both liked them.
Only downside of our visit was service. It wasn't horrible but they were very busy and seemed a bit slow to take care of tables once food had been served. However, in their defense, they advertise a leisurely experience :)
The atmosphere was my favorite thing about this place. I loved the decor and the cozy feel and found it to be a great way to start our trip. If there weren't so many other great options in town, I'd be going back again tonight!

Flip Happy Crepes

Parking can be a tight, and seating hard to find on a busy day, but I'd argue it's worth the wait. The breakfast crepes are huge, and definitely fill you up. If you want something a bit lighter, check out the fruit options. Service is pretty standard, nothing special-nothing horrible.
Still on my to-do list: return for an evening meal and take advantage of the BYOB options

A big THANK YOU to Sarah K, who was awesome from start to finish. I loved her on-line booking system (easy to use, and even sends you a reminder), and I loved her personal style. When she came to greet me, in a way I had the feeling I'd met her before.
The cut was fantastic, and I appreciated all her tips on styling. As many have said, a truly good stylist is one who teaches you how to tame your mane.
On top of all that, Urban Betty offers a cute atmosphere that speaks to Austin's charm. The other staff was super friendly, and the place was clean and orderly. Looking forward to going back (it's so nice to finally be able to say that)!

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

Joined the LBJWC thanks to a Groupon deal and first visited during their native plant sale. It was great getting a discount, and adding a few new plants to our porch.
This weekend's visit was solely to enjoy the gardens. I went with my husband and his mom, and we enjoyed a leisurely stroll through the beautiful grounds. While many plants were in bloom, I could begin to imagine what a rainbow it is during the springtime.
I also appreciated the art throughout the park - whether a statue from recycled goods amongst the gardens, or the old carriage house art display that offers a break from the sun and a blast of AC.
Really enjoyed this visit, and hope to return again soon! Thanks to all the helpful and friendly staff we encountered along the way, I know that my next experience will be just as enjoyable.

Shady Grove

Love the atmosphere (inside or out), and the service is standard and friendly. The food is nothing you'd take pictures of, in my opinion, but is never bad...just not exceptional. Note: The menu boasts a few Austiny "signature" dishes (Hippie Chick Sandwich), so check those out before you decide on your meal.
The bar boasts a solid frozen 'rita, and didn't disappoint on my list visit. Still on my to do list: KGSR's concert series. Check out the line up if you love live music and a shady grove :)

Keepin' it short & sweet on this review: I've never had a bad experience here. The handful of times I've been to Shady Grove, it's been for lunch. It's a fantastic place to enjoy a sunny Austin afternoon - complete with great food and friendly service.

Mighty Fine Burgers Fries & Shakes

(Yah, I realize that joke has probably been made in several Yelps, but in the spirit of the humor I inherited from my father, it had to be made.)
If you like burgers, you won't be disappointed with a meal from here. The burgers are juicy and flavorful, and the crinkle fries are crunchy and salty. Satisfying to my taste-buds!
Love the super simple menu - I don't like to complicate my burger, so the basics work for me. I prefer my burger with "no colors." And like their sister BBQ restaurant, Rudy's, the service is efficient and friendly, with a side of infectious smile.
DON'T MISS: Blue Bell shakes & the hand washing machine!

I met some friends here for brunch last month and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I got there ahead of my brunchmates, and enjoyed sitting and looking out the window while sipping on some lemon mint water. The ambiance is that of your grandmother's house, mixed with a bit of contemporary charm. I immediately felt welcome and "home" when I arrived.
Once we were seated, our server took very good care of us by explaining all of their delicious specials and handing us our mimosas a little before noon on a Sunday. The food itself was divine, and lingered on my taste buds after every bite. I had the Lemon Garlic Grilled Chicken Breast (Brie cheese, spinach, red onion & lemon garlic chive aioli) with the Cool Mint Signature Salad (Organic Spring Greens, Green Olives, Onion & Mint Lemon-Garlic Vinaigrette). One of the days I'll replicate that delicious meal at home, but for now it sits in my memory, making me drool every time I think about it..

I like this hidden gem. Both times I've had dinner here, most everything has been great. I like their style of Tex-Mex (yes, I think there's subcategories of Tex-Mex food), and always had good service.
Their margaritas are good, but only if you order them on the rocks. There's a marked difference in the amount of tequila used. Of course, I can't forget the queso - which is delicious and gets two thumbs up from this queso-lover. It helps that the chip basket is never empty...

I've had several different therapists in the time I've come here, all of them great. It definitely takes a few tries to find somebody that works for your preference, but the staff at the front will always do their best to match you with the best person for your preferences.
More recently I've started receiving prenatal massages. Worried at first that they would be nowhere near as relaxing (laying on your side doesn't seem ideal for massages), I was completely wrong. I've definitely fell asleep to the point of drooling the last couple times I've been in.
I have no doubt that I'l continue my membership here for years to come. And now that I know I can use my FSA to pay for it, I'm even happier!
