My mother and aunt also ordered dresses from here for my wedding. My aunt ordered a baby blue qipao with an open part at the neck with an odd looking fabric and I thought, "Oh my, this is gonna look pretty bad," b/c the style seemed too young and the fabric seemed so odd. But when she wore it to the wedding, it looked great! I was very surprised.
My mom also ordered a red and gold dress in a western style but qipao collar. I didn't think it would look nice either from the fabric sample and the style, but again I guess Anna and Peter were right as usual.
When we came in for the fitting, Anna showed my mom a green western gown she just made. When my mom tried it on, it was AMAZING! It was so lovely, just fit perfectly and sparkled everywhere.
As a repeat customer, Anna and Peter are so great! They remember you and treat you like you're their best customer.

I searched all over Las Tunas in San Gabriel for a nice Chinese dress for my engagement party and all I saw were a small selection of dresses for rent at photo studios. I then went to OC to find a tailor too and couldn't find a good one and couldn't find any good fabric. After searching all over the place for a good tailor and nice fabric, I found VinShop down the street from me!
Walking into their shop, you see high quality, colorful and beautiful qipaos hanging everywhere. The prices start around $180 or $190 for lovely custom dresses. It's kinda weird because they don't let you try anything on. I browsed their fabric samples (they've got tons of beautiful fabrics in a range of colors to choose from) and ordered a red dress and they measured me everywhere and placed my order. They rushed it within a month for me (which they do not recommend, they suggest ordering 2 months ahead). My red dress cost a little more probably because it had a fancy gold threaded part (see photos) so it was $290 (under $300 for sure).
I was kinda chubby when they measured me but after dieting that month, I lost a couple inches and Anna sewed it tighter for me within 10 minutes. It was kinda tight but great because it made me diet some more the next two days and the day of my party, I was looking marvelously svelte!
This place is top notch for custom Chinese dresses! Everyone was oohing and awing about my dress, about how it looked so expensive, and how it fit me like a glove, and talking about how beautiful I looked. I was really happy!
The dress was kinda hot because it has extra lining unlike the inexpensive $20 dresses in Chinatown. You can really see the quality in the fabric, the thick embroidery of the designs, when compared to the cheaper $20 Chinatown Chinese dresses next to theirs.
When you pick up your dress, Anna always takes a picture with you for her photo collection.
My sister also came in with her cheap Chinese dress to alter the waist for $20. They of course did the alterations but I think since their items are of such high quality comparatively, they kept harping that she should buy a custom dress from them.
Things To Know:
* They probably won't let you try anything on - kinda weird but oh well
* They discriminate against cheap Chinese dresses, ahaha
* If you order here, you'll have a high quality custom qipao that you'll be very happy with
The guys are really nice too. When we walked in, it seemed like a club b/c the customers were all dancing. That's the first time I've seen that before at this type of place. What a fun place that night was!

Once you put a down payment, she'll mock up the centerpieces for you so you can get an idea. She also provides table cloth rentals and chivari chair rentals for a really good price.
Her customer service is a little different because she is Vietnamese-American, so if you're used to Vietnamese customer service, your experience will be great. But if you're not used to it, I can see how one could get a little annoyed over minor things.
I was super picky and hands on designing the centerpieces (since I'm a designer by profession), and Kim Chi didn't even mind me bothering her every week. I think I went into her shop 5-6 times to see things and do things and glue things, etc. She'd work with me to adjust my designs and give me ideas to make the wedding theme even better.
I ordered tall manzanita trees decorated with red roses and candles, blue vases with red rose balls of flowers, feather bouquets on eiffel tower vases, navy blue table cloths, chivari chairs, my bride's bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, boutonnieres, etc. with Kim Chi. Everything was amazing and blew me away on the day of my wedding. The centerpieces were way, way more beautiful than the mockups. They were above and beyond my expectations. Everyone was very impressed by the quality and beauty of the centerpieces.
My bridal bouquet was an all red roses bouquet and Kim Chi made it gigantic! It was so huge, bursting with so many roses!
The boutonnieres and bridal bouquets had some strange green leaves
but that was my fault because I wasn't too specific about the design and didn't give her any photos to reference.
I would highly recommend Kim Chi as a wedding florist, especially for Chinese or Vietnamese-American brides in the area.

I ordered grilled pork with egg rolls over lettuce. They give a lot of meat and the egg rolls are nice and crunchy and delicious! I ordered this dish three times in three days and its consistently spectacular.
Super good! I couldn't find a good pho restaurant for the longest time in my area and I've finally found one! This is my new pho / Vietnamese food spot!

They have a free breakfast in the morning which is really convenient for business travelers. I ate toast with jelly, made a waffle, bagel with creme cheese, a green apple, a muffin, orange juice (they have apple juice too), coffee, and a hard boiled egg. They have two types of cereal too. Too bad no scrambled eggs and bacon, that'd be super cool but oh well.
The staff was nice whenever I interacted with them (not that much). I booked a room for 7 days through Expedia and I ended up only needing the room for 2 days. The Expedia receipt says no refunds but when Expedia asked them if I could have a credit / refund for the unused days, they said yes. I was very happy to hear that.
The room is decent. It's what you expect for the money. It's comfy like as if you were visiting an older aunt who's had her furniture for a while.
The shower is a little old, but fine with me Reminded me of the aged bathrooms in the West L.A. apartments I used to live in during college days. My dad said not so kind words, that basically he wouldn't be able to tolerate the dirty bathroom if we stayed any longer.
Overall, a decent inn that is great for business travelers and those looking for an inexpensive hotel option.
