Searched for a kid friendly restaurant nearby & this popped up. I think it has the best food of any "kid friendly" place we've been to as of yet. Yummy, interesting food for adults (really suprisingly good) plus high-chairs, booster seats, sippy cups & friendly staff.  Plus not crowded. Also offered to bring kids food quickly & offered crayons.  Kids liked bread + dipping/dressing sauces that started our meal  (brought very quickly, which is so helpful with little ones). Nice kids menu.  We wanted to try the desserts, but kids were restless by that time, so we'll try that next time.

I went on a weeknight; it wasn't busy, we were served quickly, the food was inexpensive (our total for 2 was $22.50, including drinks) and we liked everything we had - I had the Waimea platter with kahlua pig, teriyaki chicken, sticky rice and mac salad, my spouse had a beef dish with mac and and a green salad (may be substituted for mac for, I think, 50 cents).  They also have keiki/kids meals for under $5.  We'll definitely be going back; it's in our neighborhood, casual, cheap and good.   It's also near Casa de Tamales and a couple of non-chain, good coffee shops, and not too far away from Sully's for breakfast so it's becoming a nice little area in Milwaukie to stop for refreshments.

My husband was raised in New Zealand and misses meat pies, sausage rolles, etc.  We've even had them flown in iced from various US places specializing in such things.  I've tried my hand at making them as well, but having a local company make such items ready-to-go is ideal.  The food is yummy; pricier than in their native land (where they are mass produced and sold in petrol stations), but with fancier/organic ingredients than in their homeland as well.

I've purchased the pies from Milwaukie's Farmer's Market, and it looks like they sell them in a variety of such markets around town.  Please keep them in business so I don't have to pay to overnight meat pies!

I went here on a lovely sunny day, and therefore was able to sit at one of two outside tables to the side of the restaurant.  The restaurant itself is lovely, and the food was excellent - I had a bbq pork sandwich, my friend had one of the noodle specials, and my toddler shared our order along with really, really good french fries.  The server brought extra utensils without being asked and offered an extra plate/napkins.   I probably wouldn't go there with my toddler in the absence of the outside seating because he's just too squirmy for the tranquil atmosphere.  Outside he was able to run around safely behind us without bothering anyone.

The reason to go here, as far as I'm concerned, is the children's play area.  They have a low-walled off area that contains a playhouse, train table, puppet theater and lots of other toys.  There's seating around the outside for parents to sit.  There's also a children's table outside for them to drink their child's hot chocolate and snacks.

There's also computers/internet access, chairs around somekind of fireplace.  The service is friendly, but not real speedy when I've been there, but it hasn't been a problem for me because my toddler was otherwise occupied.  I've only had hot chocolate and mochas, which were fine, but I'm much of a coffee drinker.  They also seem to have a wide range of milkshakes/ice cream.

They have a large amount of options and are very reasonably priced.  A side of mac salad (home made with hard boiled eggs, olives, celery, green onions, etc.) is 50 cents, which makes a good snack for my toddler (it also is one of the options with a boxed lunch).  Most of the shakes and sodas are $2-3.  Although I wouldn't say the service is speedy, the servers take the time with each customer and are willing to adjust recipes/porportions of the various concoctions.

They have little paper sheets to fill out your options for sandwiches.  The first time we went here, a worker asked if my son wanted a balloon and filled one up with helium for him.  The toddler in question also loves the spinning stools - they keep him occupied better than a high chair, althoug I have to keep a hand on him.

This is also a good option if you are looking for someplace close to the Milwaukie's Farmer's Market/Craft Market on Sunday -- it's about two blocks away.

Both times I've been here, I've rolled my son in on his trike - the aisles are fairly wide and it seems fairly accessible.  There store part itself contains a lot of toys, which may be good or bad with kids.  They don't have high chairs or toys out for the kids as far as I can tell, but it still seems family friendly.

Tebo's Restaurant

Tebo's is a cafeteria-style establishment that specializes in hamburgers and assorted related items:  fish or shrimp and chips, various sandwiches, salad plates, dinner specials of the day, soups etc.  You go through a line and order your items, which are generally ready by the time you get to the cash register - you can see the people cooking as you go down the line through clear plexiglass.   Condiments are available separately at the end, so you can fix things the way you like them (onions, relish and pickes, etc).  They do bring some items out to you - coffee, sundaes after the meal.

They do have great pies and a variety of other dessert items.  During strawberry season, they specialize in strawberry shortcake and strawberry cream pie.  They also make milkshakes in a variety of flavors.  The hamburgers and fries are good, but not spectacular -- I wouldn't travel across town for them.  The salads look to be based on iceberg lettuce -- they have pictures out front and samples for perusal.

They also have a take-out section in the front where you can get pies and cakes to go, as well as pints and quarts of salads.  I got a wonderful strawberry cream pie as a walk-in.  I'd give the pie 5 stars.

Tebo's seems to be favored by an older crowd, but it is also a great place for families - automatic doors, wide aisles, not too quiet, plenty of tables, high chairs, changing station in the large bathroom, plenty of off-street parking.  They have a children's menu that includes an entree, fries, a drink and sundae for $3.50.

I'll go back because of the desserts and family-friendliness when I'm nearby and hungry.

Sully's is a few blocks from where the farmer's market is held on Sundays.  Wonderful omelettes, filled with fancy and interesting combinations - this isn't diner food, it's a bit more upscale and fresh, but in a casual atmosphere and with reasonable prices.  The service is very friendly.

There's not much room between tables - they fit all the seating they can get there.  I wouldn't label it as family-friendly, but I did take my child there when he was an infant and could still stay in sling or carseat.  There hours are, I believe, limited -- I just know they are open until early afternoon on Sunday.

Davincis Italiano Ristorante - CLOSED

I love DaVincis, but I've never actually ate at the restaurant.  Someday, I hope to change that, but they have a great take-out menu and they are right on Mcloughlin with easy parking.  I'll stop and get a quart of spaghetti or ravioli or gnocchi, plus a salad and a few slices of garlic bread and it makes a lovely, cheap meal for two.  I also love their fresh minestrone.  A few weeks ago, I had relatives from out of town drop by and they wanted take-out for everybody for a celebration.  We called up a few hours ahead of time and requested a rather large order, including canelloni, meat spaghetti, gnocchi, ravioli, etc.  It was excellent and satisified my Italian cousins.

It's not a fancy-looking place - it's a little box of a restaurant with parking in front and to the side and it is a bit scruffy.  They take take-out orders at the front desk.  I suggest calling ahead of time if you want it all boxed up and ready to go.  They also do individual pizzas, pints and quarts of most pastas, and will do anything on the menu for take-out for a slight sur-charge (i.e., for any item not on the take-out menu).  They also generally have a few different, really good desserts in their pastry case.  I have seen high chairs, so I suspect it's child-friendly; it's more a casual family restaurant than a romantic, everybody-must-be-quiet restaurant.  And it is relatively cheap.

This place doesn't look like it is child-friendly -- the high chairs and booster seats are hidden behind the scenes -- but within a minute of sitting down the server brought us a high chair, whisked the chair it replaced away, and brought us a large plastic bucket full of toys.

The caveat to this place is - either go during off-peak hours or count on a very leisurely pace.  The server was quick, efficient and friendly, but clearly overworked as the place began to fill up for the lunch hour crowd.  Similarly, I suspect the kitchen is short-staffed for peak hours.  However, the food is good and they have a decent selection of teas, chai (dragon fly brand, I think, 3 types), and espresso (which I haven't had).  If you need something quick, ask for a scone, pastry or similar item until the main order gets there.
