Neehee's Indian Street Food
Categories: Indian, Vegetarian
There are times when I crave Indian food but my hubby is not always on the same page. Neehee's makes it so I can get my fix anytime I want - in & out...street food. Now I don't have to wait until he's in the mood - hurray!
I have so much to learn about what they have to offer. My first visit I tried the #12 - Aloo Tikki (2 pc). It was pan fried potato patties topped with chutneys, yogurt, onions and a little cilantro. It was so incredibly flavorable. I was lost at first bite. It had just the right amount of heat - the kinds that makes your mouth tingle and then subsides but yet you savor it for the next few hours.
Oh, and it's extremely affordable. My lunch only came to $4 + change. I'm keeping a "master menu" so I can work my way through it and try all sorts of new things.
Neehee's: Thank you thank you thank you for landing in Canton!
This morning I had the breakfast tostada that was built upon a bed of hash browns with a corn tortilla followed by a refried beans, chorizo, roasted corn, black beans, jalepenos and chiles. Topped with a scrambled egg and then a nice poblano salsa. Delicious. Hearty. Enough for lunch/snack leftovers.
Glad to now have this as one of our go-to breakfast-out options. Just wish they served mimosas. Then life would be really good!
It was a beautiful summer day and we satoutside at a small bistro table, got served wonderful food, and had an incredible (catch up with an old friend) conversation - for as long as we liked. The best part was the peole watching...Ann Arbor at it's finest. It was like sitting front row at a parade of diverse, creative, interesting people. So go here to kick back, relax, sit outside, enjoy great food and people watch. It will make your day.
BTW - check out the Robot Supply & Repair store next door. Very cool. Awesome tee's.

Northville is located just outside downtown in a lot across from the racetrack. It's sometimes crazy to get in/out of the parking area, but patience is a virtue. There is almost always a spot or two in the back. I refuse to park across the street - who wants to lug a flat of plants all that way? I'm a dropper....but a few things, drop them off at the car....go back for more!
The market is just about the right size...not too small (bigger than Plymouth) and not too big (smaller than Pontiac). It's 100% outdoors, so weather is a huge factor in when I'll visit. They have a good variety of vendors. Bakeries, fruit/veggie growers, plants, herbs, shrubs, organic produce & food, some jewelry and soaps. There are food vendors too, though I very rarely indulge (kettle corn, almonds, lemonade).
Hours are 8-3pm on Thursdays.

In the past two years I have bought: Purple Sand Cherry, Red Twig Dog Wood, Black Lace Elderberry, Snowball Viburnum, Holly, and multiple other shrubs whose names escape me. The trees are equally impressive and reasonably priced.
Early in the season I was able to score gallon sized perennials for $3.50! Spiderwort, daisies, and 3 different kinds of hostas.
They may not have everything, but the sure have a lot of stuff that makes me smile.

I love love love this place. Do not try to go here on the weekend though - only go during the week (preferably during the day). The prices here are sooo reasonable - I'm always astonished when I can get out of there with only using the $20 in my pocket and have food for the entire week. Occasionally they will not have something I need (like bean sprouts or cilantro) but usually they do. And when you pay $2 for cilantro at a grocery store and .39 cents here - it's worth the hit or miss.
We tried the Detroiter pizza - it was fantastic. Nothing too elaborate...it had a basil tomato sauce with pepperoni and brick cheese, then topped with parmesan and baked. Simple but oh-so-good. I'd highly recommend it.
It's nice to have a place where you can rely on getting a seat and consistent food. Yay for Buddy's.

We were there on a Tuesday night - "open mic night" and the 2 person band wasn't bad. They played Hiatt, Stones, and other folksy/rock stuff. A young budding comedian took the stage for a few minutes - and while it wasn't really my kind of comedy, I give him a ton of credit for trying..."you go Man!"
Tuesday also brought 1/2 off bottles of wine and $5 apps. The sliders were very good! As well as the roasted garlic platter. You could make an entire meal out of the appetizers alone. I *heart* a good happy hour...we'll be going back!
I will be buying all my stuff online for now on. Too bad. I'd prefer to help out a storefront and give my support locally.
We had the chicken/lettuce wraps and they 90% veggies & sauce and 10% chicken. Fairly flavorless. Served with extremely (dripping) wet head lettuce. Pass on this next time.
K had the General Tso that was pretty good. But just ok. I had the szechuan noodles with chicken (which our server could not describe). We both ordered medium and they were wimpy, at best. The noodle dish was basically a stir fry with a lot of sauce over some toasted noodles. Minimal flavor, unfortunately.
Besides the fact that the dishes were so-so, the server didn't have any knowledge about the beers available or how to describe the dishes. The fact that my plate had a very large chip in it, didn't help.
Not so sure we'll be returning. I really wanted to try some more exotic things, but if the "norm" isn't compelling, I'm not sure I'd venture out.

The menu was the old menu, and according to the waitress they are changing it, soon...however I doubt that there could be any improvement as the overall quality of food is bad.
It was crowded, but we could get a seat (booth with a TV playing the World Series) easily enough. The service was OK. It is just that the food, the atmosphere and the smoking made it an extremely unenjoyable experience.
I agree that it's a shame that it didn't get upgraded, have a new menu and better food. We pass by it all the time and will have to continue to do so. Bummer.
