So while I'm not traveling in the next 14 days, I do need 5-8 visas for my travel in 2 months. Given the time it takes to get various visas, I knew that I needed to add pages to my passport ASAP (I only had 1 blank page). So, I tried to make an appointment here over the phone and there was NO availability for the next 10 days. I decided to just show up in person instead.
Doing so was not a problem at all. However, because my passport was coming apart a little at the seams, I ended up needing a new one, which required passport photos (they did allow me to skip the line when I returned with my new application + photos).
Regarding Passport Photos, there is a place next door called "Passport Photos". DO NOT GO THERE! They charge $23-29 (I forget what they said) for 2 photos. Instead, walk 1 block West down M St to CVS, where you can get 6 pictures for $8.45.
Finally, two other tidbits of knowledge: 1) ALL services done in person here will incur the $60 expedite fee 2) If you're applying for a passport, or for additional pages on behalf of someone else, make sure you have a photocopy of their Drivers License (or other ID) AND a signed note from them stating that they authorize you to apply on their behalf.
