One of the most healthiest places I've ever dined! From salads to soups, to their rice pilaf, turkey dinner all of it is just sooo fresh!! No excess grease or salt, and what a variety of dishes!! I won't begin with their Breakfast, but yes please come here and visit and compare to IHOP, DENNY'S, even Gunther's down the street and you'll see what I'm talkin' about!! The bar drinks are pretty decent, and so is the service!! Just watch out for that old cougar waitress late nights, she looks like STACEY Q lol The fact that they're open 24/7/365 is just another plus!!

Man this place is GHEEEEEEEEEEETO!!! But do you expect on the southern end of the strip, next door to the ADULT motel, for $40-ish, on a Monday? one star for the guy at the window. he was pretty nice.
We stayed in #19. The sheets were stained, the bed was all lopsided and broken, there were only two itty bitty towels, the toilet was missing its tank lid and the tub was a grimy nightmare!! I didn't take a shower there or sleep under the covers... ack ack ack RALPH EARL!!
This place should really be spelled YUCKA.
This is about the ONLY place where really good MENUDO is served... seriously... I haven't tried anything else here except for chorizo, and that was even delicious... The tortillas are made from scratch, and they sell nixtamal, which is a plus!
This place is pretty small but the owner is very nice and he has a ton of pics on the wall of himself with all sorts of known folks. He sells a wide variety of herbs, candles, barro, molcajetes, metates, dulces... The best time to come is on the weekend, early in the morning... for the MENUDO!!!

The fraud alert that I filed with my bank consisted of a 60 day investigation, in which they immediately credited me my $140.93 and threw the ball in San Jose Furniture's court.
At that point, Long Phan et al. could've fought it or ate it. They ATE it. Yeah. Exactly. What a bunch of thieves.
The police report was helpful in the investigation, in that (at minimum) it demonstrated that my dispute was SERIOUS and that I was not going to take San Jose Furniture's or anyone else's shady shit!
Still feel like smacking that fucker LOL

****FRAUD ALERT**** Watch out for "LONG PHAN"! If you pay with a debit/CC, he'll swipe it again later for $$$. In my case, it was around $140-ish. This happened to me a few weeks ago an hour after I bought a bunkbed. When I came back to confront him with bank statement and receipt in hand, he denied the transaction, saying that I probably got the wrong "San Jose Furniture" because there is another one in Campbell. WTF??
First of all, this was the only one I visited. Secondly, the fraudulent transaction lists "San Jose, CA" on the bank statement. Dah!!!
I called the police right then and there. When they showed up, he gave the same story but then promised to have his "accountant" (another PHAN) meet me the next day. When I came back, there was no such "accountant", and he continued denying it (while a couple other vietnamese guys were giggling in the back). I so wanted to smack that fucker. I filed a police report, and fraud alert with my bank. typical shady asian businesses fucked with the wrong indigena!

They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and this place would not complete without a full bar and only the best beers on tap (i.e. NEGRA MODELO, WIDMER). The staff are very friendly and they WILL remember you, if come back :) The prices are reasonable so have no fear.
The only thing I could complain about the Wooden Nickel is the pictures and newspaper clippings of the owner's daughter. You can find her on almost every table. Um, I would not be plastering her face and her life story everywhere like that... even if you do know your regulars... too many creeps.

While paying, my husband casually mentions to the cashier about the missing cranberry, and apparently the manager standing near by, over hears this and begins to ask about it. Visibly agressive, he tells us that that is one of his "pet peeves" and angrily asks me why we didn't say anything. My husband stepped in and told him to chill because in the end, it wasn't our fault. He then sighs loudly and storms off toward the kitchen.
Listen you middle-age crisis having, stuck in the 70s lookin' mf. If we were annoyed, we WOULD HAVE said something, you obviously haven't had the pleasure of experiencing my wrath (or my husband's for that matter) when we get crappy service, and in this case my friend, the only crappy aspect of our dining experience that day was YOU!
