Finally made it all the way down to this place a few weekends ago.
This is easily the best/most comprehensive used record store in Chicago.
I went down there because they are known for their extensive stock of old 45s, and they did not disappoint. Just about every title I looked up they had in the stacks at the rear of the store. Use the catalogs in the front as a reference. A fella named Randy was real friendly and helpful.
None of the records on the floor are marked w/a price tag, so I was afraid to pick out too much only to find out they're demanding exorbitant prices at the cash register. Randy told me not to worry, all the 45s (except for some rarities behind the register) are $4 -- great deal in my opinion! Some of the records I got were probably worth less than that, but some I'd have expected to pay more. I forgot the fixed price of the LPs, but it was cheap/reasonable.

only found out about this place a month ago and immediately added it to my regular lunch rotation. i'll have to update this review if i ever try another, but i'm completely devoted to the il parma (proscuitto, mozzarella, tomato, basil, oil) and probably won't be able to order another sandwich.
some yelpers are griping the prices are a little high, but i think the quality of the meats and cheeses is worth it, and to compensate, the sides are cheap (and also tasty).
UPDATE-still love the parma. I also recommend the pesto tortellini, potato salad, and tuscan bean salad. top-ranking espresso drinks too. this place rules.

I really want to find a good hole-in-the-wall type Mexican place downtown. As far as I know it does not exist.
I read great things about Zacatacos locations in other parts of town, so when I finally caught wind that one had opened in the former Oasis stall at this dumpy food court, I got a little bit excited.
I ordered the most basic thing: carne asada tacos w/cilantro & onion. It took a little longer than it probably should have, but more importantly the steak was not cooked to order, served tepid scooped out of a warming pool of sorts. I've only been once, and I understand that maybe if I visited at peak lunch time I might get hot food (and an even longer wait), but I'm not keen to return to a place that's already served me junk once.
Worth checking out for the horchata, a hard-to-come-by drink in this part of town.

CARNE ASADA TACOS here are neck and neck with la pasadita.
brought my cousin and his family here last night: i told them i think it's just a notch below la pasadita (1140 n. ashland location), but they all thought las asadas is better. not only that, they preferred the neat 'n' tidy atmosphere to pasadita's finely honed griminess.

just had the spicy falafel sandwich here for the first time in about a year and it is just passable. i think i might agree with the recent reviewer who remembers the falafel being tastier. or maybe it was never that great.
when i lived closer i used to eat here more and frequently ordered the lamb shawarma / yellow rice and that was always pretty good.
but i must say...
hidden gem here is the lentil soup!!
they used to stock lychee fruit juice in a can? didn't see it there on last visit. -1 star.

I think this place could be classified as a Greek botanica? Not sure. I'll call it a straight-faced occultist's/witch's supply store. And it's open to the public!
Honestly shocked this place only has a half-dozen reviews. Other reviews give a good description of the merchandise.
Last visit I saw a guy STOCKING UP on "Contra la ley" votive candles. This place is no joke.
Definitely worth checking out after your next Greektown brunch outing.
