I've been twice - both times I've been to Charleston. The first time I had the veggie quesadillas and the second time I had Thai shrimp and beef tips. Those were very unique - served over rice and fresh lettuce.
The wait staff seems a bit overworked, so if it's busy, service won't be too attentive, although our food did come pretty quickly. You can see the action on the line from the dining area, which is a nice touch.
Also a plus: they offer half-orders on some entrees, even at dinner. Perfect portion sizes at half the price.
You'll notice a large dessert menu plastered on the wall, but don't be fooled. It'd left over from the pre-renovation days, which means they don't have all of the ice cream and sundae flavors available.
If you're in Charleston and downtown, this place is worth checking out.

This place ain't bad, especially for the price. It's like Baja Burrito but with more selection and a shorter line. You can get a small burrito and a water for less than $5 at lunch.
They also have a patio outside for seating. The staff is very friendly. The food won't wow you, but you'll be happy you had lunch there.

I like Bongo. I like the idea behind the entire empire. During the school year, this place is packed from 10 AM until the sun goes down. So, plan accordingly. You'll also probably wait in line to order your latte or cup of joe, too.

This is my go-to Sunday brunch spot. The menu is small, but original. They offer a perfect blend of options, from salads to French toast. The staff is great and brunch is well priced. Show up when they open and you'll be in and out in less than 45 minutes. A nice addition is the free cinnamon bread you get.

There's better pizza and atmosphere in Nashville. The slices can be big, so you can get a decent lunch on the cheap, but the vibe is like that of a food court.

I've run this event 6 times (the full once and the half 5 times). I've also run about 20 halfs elsewhere. Nashville has the best crowds and excitement of any race I've done. The hills are a bitch, but the race is totally worth doing. I plan on doing it every year until I die.

The staff is nice and the liquor and wine selection is out of this world. It's easy to find and nice and clean inside. It brings alcohol buying up a notch in Nashville.

Everyone says you need to go here, and you probably should. It is southern-cooking at its best. But, you will sit with strangers and you'll get a ton of food. A TON. Go with a big group of friends after you run a marathon and it will be perfect.

hands down, this is the best cup of coffee in town - if you get it via the French Press. I'll order the large French Press and sit a spell to read or work. They also feature locally made pastries. The vibe is cool - all the woodwork and everything is reclaimed, so they've got a 'green' angle. They also support a lot of local nonprofits. Rachel (founder) is there most days, too, and she knows what she's doing.
